The Sea Queen of 1985

Chapter 329: Chapter 329: The New Project is Secured

Wu Lingling smiled brightly. ”Thank you, Third Granny. Ziqian, this is Aunt Zhang, and this is Aunt Yang...”

Wu Lingling introduced him to everyone chatting at the village entrance, pulling candy from her pockets to hand out.

And just like that, everyone knew: Wu Lingling had a boyfriend again.

However, judging by his accent, he wasn’t a local. Recalling how angry the Wu couple had been recently, they guessed what was going on.

Still, for the young man to come all this way showed he was sincere.

Along the way, she greeted every adult and child they met and gave them candy. With these actions, Wu Lingling was showing how much she truly liked Yao Ziqian and that she was willing to properly discuss things with her family for his sake.

Wu Cuicui was at home with the child, keeping her parents company, even though her younger sister had already promised to break up with Yao Ziqian.

’But when it comes to young love, can things ever be severed so easily?’

Wu Cuicui was worried her parents would let their imaginations run wild. She was also concerned about their frail health; if one of them were to fall, she could get them to the hospital quickly.

Yang Shunshun couldn’t talk yet, but she could laugh, gurgling and cooing. She was a very beautiful little girl.

Yang Jianming wasn’t much of a person, but you had to admit his daughters, who all took after him, were truly beautiful.

Wu Cuicui had been raising the child since birth and considered her her very own daughter.

Uncle Wu and Aunt Wu also treated the child as their own granddaughter. Having her around greatly lifted their spirits.

Just then, Wu Lingling walked in with Yao Ziqian. ”Dad, Mom, look who’s here!”

The Wu couple and Wu Cuicui looked over to see Wu Lingling and, behind her, the tall, refined, and handsome Yao Ziqian.

Today, Yao Ziqian had specially changed into the clothes Wu Lingling had picked for him: a white shirt, black trousers, a new leather belt, and a pair of brightly polished leather shoes.

Yao Ziqian’s hair wasn’t long, but it was neatly styled. He looked like the very picture of a refined and talented young man.

”Who’s this?” Wu Cuicui asked quickly, her heart skipping a beat.

”This is Yao Ziqian!” Wu Lingling announced.

As soon as Wu Cuicui heard the name, she knew it was her sister’s boyfriend. ”Didn’t you two break up? How did you end up together again? Yao Ziqian, my sister is not marrying someone far from home, so you can just give up on that idea!”

”My parents haven’t grabbed a broom to chase you out yet, so take your things and leave now. If you make them so angry they pass out, you and Lingling will have no chance at all.”

A wave of dizziness washed over Uncle Wu. He never expected this boy to show up at his doorstep.

Seeing his younger daughter, Wu Lingling, smiling so happily, he knew she hadn’t gotten over Yao Ziqian.

Aunt Wu could only wipe away her tears. ’This wolf cub has come all this way just to snatch my daughter away!’

Yao Ziqian knew the Wu Family was against their relationship, but he hadn’t expected them to be so vehemently opposed. No wonder Wu Lingling couldn’t take the pressure and wanted to break up.

”Uncle, Aunt, please rest assured, Lingling won’t be marrying far from home. I’ve come to Shencheng to settle down.”

The Wu parents thought they had misheard, unable to believe their ears.

Wu Cuicui was skeptical. ”How could you be willing to leave your hometown and move to Shencheng? Even though you’re a man, you’re the only son in your family. You’re not trying to trick us, are you? What if you marry her, have kids, and then just whisk my sister away!”

Just as Uncle Wu and Aunt Wu were calming down, they grew agitated again. ”We refuse! We still refuse!”

Han Xiaorui had returned from a trip out to sea last night. When she woke up this morning, she was craving plain congee with red fermented bean curd, but she was all out!

Han Xiaorui had a real craving for it, so she came over to the Wu family’s home to ask Aunt Wu for some.

Aunt Wu’s homemade red fermented bean curd was delicious. Paired with plain congee, Han Xiaorui could eat two large bowls in one sitting.

Before she even reached the gate, she heard crying and shouting from the courtyard.

Worried something was wrong, Han Xiaorui rushed in. ”What’s going on? Huh? Yao Ziqian, what are you doing here?”

When Yao Ziqian saw Han Xiaorui, his face lit up as if he’d just seen a long-lost relative. He had finally run into someone he knew besides Wu Lingling.

”Ms. Han, please, you have to help me out. I’m willing to settle down in Shencheng, but Uncle and Aunt won’t agree. They’re even calling me a liar.”

Hearing this, Han Xiaorui was surprised. ”For real? You’re really moving here?”

Yao Ziqian nodded, his face etched with anxiety. ”It’s true! If you don’t believe me, you can ask my master. I already had Lawyer Chen help me buy a house and a shop yesterday. Of course it’s true! Please, convince them to calm down. I’m really afraid they’ll get so worked up they’ll fall ill. If that happens, it’s probably over for Lingling and me.”

Seeing how sincere he was, Han Xiaorui spoke up loudly. ”Uncle Wu, Aunt Wu, calm down! All this shouting and arguing won’t solve anything.”

”A visitor is still a guest, and as the bride’s family, we should show some courtesy. Let’s all talk this through clearly so there are no misunderstandings.”

”If you don’t listen and keep getting this worked up, what if this young couple decides to die for love? Wouldn’t you regret it even more then?”

Those words were enough to make Uncle Wu and Aunt Wu calm down.

Just last month, there had been a young couple whose parents were enemies and forbade their marriage. The two were deeply in love, so they jumped into a river and died together.

Yao Ziqian wiped the sweat from his brow and set down a case of Maotai. ”Uncle, Aunt, let me explain everything from the very beginning...”

Everyone was dumbfounded, staring at one another in disbelief.

Han Xiaorui completely forgot that she had come for red fermented bean curd. She hadn’t even eaten breakfast, but she was too engrossed to notice her hunger.

’This love story is really something else,’ she thought.

”Is feng shui really that powerful?” Han Xiaorui asked. She’d never encountered it before and knew nothing about it.

Uncle Wu scratched his head. ”Isn’t that just feudal superstition? I’m a Party member; I don’t believe in ghosts and spirits!”

Yao Ziqian smiled. ”It’s not feudal superstition, nor does it involve ghosts or spirits. To put it simply, it’s about altering a magnetic field to better suit a person’s needs. The process is just rather complex, steeped in thousands of years of Hua Country’s culture.”

Hearing this, Han Xiaorui’s thoughts turned to Fengshui Fish and feng shui fish tanks. ’This new project... I could partner with a feng shui professional like Yao Ziqian.’

”Yao Ziqian, what you’re saying makes sense. But let’s put that aside for a moment. I want to ask you, are you certain you want to settle down here?”

”I’m certain. My master has read both my and Lingling’s charts, and our ’bazi’ are compatible.” Yao Ziqian didn’t dare mention that they both supposedly had ’hard fates’. ”Plus, we’re in love, so I came. My parents have also agreed. I told my parents they could give half of the family assets to my sister and brother-in-law. They’ll take care of my parents, and I’ll send money home for them every year.”

Hearing this, Uncle Wu and Aunt Wu were still unconvinced. ”Your parents only have one son. How could they possibly agree? Either you’re lying, or there’s something you’re hiding!”

Seeing her parents still objecting and not wanting Yao Ziqian to be cornered any further, Wu Lingling blurted out, ”It’s because Yao Ziqian has a ’hard fate’ that brings misfortune to his family. Three days after his wedding, his wife choked to death while eating. Three days after my wedding, my husband was hit by a car and died. We both have hard fates. We’re a match made in heaven.”
