The Sea Queen of 1985

Chapter 305: Chapter 305: Because I Love You

Yang Zhigang nodded. ”Yes, there is something. In principle, Brother Liu thinks your suggestion is excellent. This way, anyone with a Jinshan Bay household registration can receive a share of the profits per person every year. It’ll be a steady, long-term stream of income.”

”We originally wanted the villagers to contribute money too, to pool our funds so they could also own some shares. They’d be able to get a larger cut of the profits that way, but right now, they’re not optimistic about the project. They don’t object to you using that large plot of village land as your investment stake, but they’re unwilling to put up any cash.”

”We initially estimated we could raise at least one million yuan from the village. But now, aside from me, Brother Liu, and a few other village cadres, plus a couple of the more well-off families, we can only scrape together five hundred thousand at most. That’s all we can get!”

Han Xiaorui thought for a moment after hearing this. ”Actually, even with one million yuan, the shares wouldn’t be that much. Since that’s the case, let’s not make it so complicated. As long as everyone agrees to the land being used as an investment, they can have a 15% share of the profits.”

”According to the original plan, the total investment, all things considered, will be around 50 million yuan. I plan to phase the construction over four years. That way, the profits from my ornamental fish farm will be enough to cover the costs.”

”Once the commercial properties are built, I can sell them to the public. That will also help me quickly recoup the funds, making things less complicated.”

Hearing Han Xiaorui’s proposal, Yang Zhigang nodded. ”Given that the villagers are unwilling to contribute money, I also think your approach is better.”

”I have some savings now, so you can let me know if you’re short on cash. Not only do I have savings, but I also have a large boat that I can use as collateral for a bank loan.”

Han Xiaorui smiled and nodded. ”Okay, I’ll let you know when I need money. I don’t need any for now; the ornamental fish farm’s accounts are flush with cash. I happen to be free tomorrow, so let’s hold a village meeting and finalize this.”

Yang Zhigang agreed. ”Alright. The sooner we settle it, the better. Best not to let things drag on and get complicated.”

At the village meeting the next day, not only did Han Xiaorui attend, but she also invited Director Xu from the design and construction company to explain the plan, the estimated cost, and the timeline for completion.

In addition, Chen Nanyang, the lawyer, came over with two notaries.

Because various interests were involved and the sums of money were enormous, everything had to be formalized in writing to avoid future disputes.

When everyone learned that the project required 50 million yuan, they realized their 15% stake was worth 7.5 million yuan.

In other words, that piece of village land had effectively been sold for a full 7.5 million yuan. Once the project turned a profit, dividends would be distributed, and everyone in the village would get a share.

No one had ever imagined that the low-lying plot of land, which no one had even been willing to build a factory on, would now be part of such a massive development.

It wasn’t just a school being built, but also a park and a coastal economic belt. In short, it was all incredibly positive.

For them, it was a win-win situation with no downsides.

Many people started brainstorming ways to take advantage of the large-scale development and start their own businesses.

Because Han Xiaorui had given them her assurance, and with a capable and trustworthy person like Yang Zhigang also involved, the entire village had complete faith in them.

Having all come from fishing families, they believed in both fortune and ability.

This was why boat captains held so much prestige in the past.

A captain could not only lead everyone to a good catch but could also use their vast experience to guide them out of danger when they encountered perils at sea.

Han Xiaorui was undoubtedly the most outstanding among the younger generation. Basically, any venture Han Xiaorui took on was guaranteed to make money—and a lot of it.

The ornamental fish farm, with its frequent foreign clients and the large trucks that often came to haul away shipping containers, was all proof of Han Xiaorui’s sharp vision and strong capabilities.

As the old saying goes, if you follow a capable beggar like Zhu Yuanzhang, you might just become a high-ranking official one day.

It was a simple principle of survival that everyone, unless they were a fool, understood.

Thus, every villager aged eighteen and above signed their name and added their thumbprint, indicating their consent.

After organizing the documents, Chen Nanyang had them notarized in the presence of the notaries and officially established the Jinshan Bay Investment Co., Ltd.

Han Xiaorui’s total investment was 50 million yuan, giving her an 85% stake. The Jinshan Bay village committee and all its residents contributed the land as their investment, holding the remaining 15% stake in the joint development.

This document was also filed with the district authorities, officially recognized, and legally binding.

When Ye Feng returned from his business trip, he learned that Han Xiaorui had become the majority shareholder of this new investment company.

Ye Feng gave Han Xiaorui a thumbs-up. ”It’s only been a few days, but you move really fast!”

”Things are developing so quickly, changing every day. Time and tide wait for no one, so we must seize every moment. We can’t afford to waste time.”

”Director Xu from the construction company says they’re short on construction workers. You could tell your old comrades and have them bring their fellow villagers out here to work. They can start by learning the trade and maybe become foremen in the future.”

”That way, they can not only earn money but also help lead their hometown folks to prosperity. They’ll gain prestige back home, along with a greater sense of honor and accomplishment.”

Ye Feng’s eyes lit up when he heard this. ”That’s a really great idea. Shencheng and other coastal areas across the country are undergoing massive construction right now and need laborers from the inland regions.”

”In his letter, Liu Zhan mentioned that some of our comrades are back in their villages, full of strength but with no way to earn a living. They’re also very blunt and straightforward, which often makes it hard for them to fit in locally.”

”I can’t speak for other places, but here in Jinshan Bay, I can guarantee no one will dare to delay their wages.”

”Okay, I understand. Thank you,” Ye Feng said with a smile. ”Thank you for doing so much for me, for always thinking of me.”

Han Xiaorui smiled. ”It’s nothing. Your comrades have been to war and shed blood for our country. They deserve to be treated well.”

”Also, we shouldn’t just look after the able-bodied ones. For those who were disabled by their injuries and are facing financial hardship, we should help them as much as we can. But you don’t have time for all this, so you’ll need to find someone trustworthy to help.”

”We’re making so much money; we should make it count for something meaningful. Otherwise, all your hard work will start to feel pointless, and you’ll lose your motivation.”

”Thank you!” Ye Feng hugged Han Xiaorui tightly and wouldn’t let go. ”How can you be so good to me!”

”Because I love you!” Han Xiaorui declared her affection openly and directly, her bright smile as brilliant as the midday sun.

Ye Feng was a more reserved person emotionally. Touched deeply by Han Xiaorui’s declaration, he replied, ”I love you, too.”

Their two hearts drew closer, their bond deepening.

Whenever the weather permitted, Han Xiaorui would go out to sea. Each trip brought back a profit of at least a hundred thousand yuan, sometimes over three hundred thousand, allowing her to rapidly accumulate her initial capital.

Even the day before her wedding, Han Xiaorui was still out on the ocean!

When she returned to the docks, snowflakes were drifting from the sky.

Ye Feng, dressed in a thick down jacket, stood on the pier holding a bouquet of flowers, waiting for Han Xiaorui to return.

Even so, aside from his worry, Ye Feng didn’t have a single word of complaint.
