The Wealthy Tycoon's Game of Life

Chapter 1244: Chapter 474: ”Subway Stalking Incident” (Part 2)

”About seven meters to your left, wearing casual clothes, jeans, a baseball cap, and sunglasses, holding a book.”

Zhou Wang glanced down at Gao Xing’s description, then adjusted his expression, pretending to look left casually.

With Gao Xing’s direct indication, Zhou Wang quickly spotted the person this time.

He... no, it’s her.

Because of the hat and sunglasses, the face wasn’t visible, but from the figure, it was clearly a woman. She was mingling among the chattering college students, holding a book, and was glancing up at the subway line’s stops.

This fleeting glimpse allowed Zhou Wang to see her fair neck, confirming beyond doubt that she was female, and probably young.

No wonder Zhou Wang hadn’t noticed her earlier. First, because she blended seamlessly with the college students, and second, because her youthful age and gender didn’t fit the image of a ”stalker” or ”assassin.”

”Are you sure it’s her? Could it be a mistake?”

After a few glances, seeing no attention from the other side, Zhou Wang couldn’t spot anything suspicious and couldn’t help but send another message to Gao Xing.

”No.”

Gao Xing replied simply with two words, offering no explanation.

Zhou Wang was momentarily speechless but didn’t press further. He trusted that Gao Xing had his judgments; after all, he was the professional. Zhou Wang’s theories were based on fictional expertise, and there were undoubtedly discrepancies with reality.

”What should I do now?”

”Up to you.”

”What do you mean?”

”I can take her down at any time.”

Zhou Wang understood immediately upon reading Gao Xing’s response.

He was only responsible for the action and Zhou Wang’s safety, but deciding how to handle the situation or whether to act, even timing, was for Zhou Wang to weigh.

”Can you tell if she has any intention of harm towards me?”

”... No.”

It took Gao Xing a few minutes to respond with those two words, suggesting he was slightly exasperated.

Zhou Wang felt a bit embarrassed too. Damn it, this was what happens when you read too many novels, using terms like ”intention of harm.”

While discreetly observing the mysterious woman, Zhou Wang pondered.

She had been following him since the airport...

This indicated she knew something about him or had prior information, tracking his life details meticulously. He couldn’t think of a reason for this except that she came with ”ill intentions.”

Wait, a woman... Could she be the remnants of the Xue Group, Gao Xuelan?

But that didn’t seem right either, as the woman’s age was evidently not that of someone in their forties or fifties, and Gao Xing had seen Gao Xuelan’s photos. Even with disguises, she shouldn’t have evaded his eyes.

Then who could it be?

Zhou Wang racked his brain but couldn’t think of anything.

Forget it, since he couldn’t figure it out, he’d just ask her directly.

However, taking action in public was obviously a bad idea. She might be armed, endangering innocents, and there was also a slight chance Gao Xing could have been wrong...

Zhou Wang thought for a moment and quickly came up with a win-win strategy.

He took out his phone and sent a message.

...

After a thorough disguise, Qu Peining looked up at the subway station map, seeming absent-minded, but her dark eyes occasionally glanced, from beneath her sunglasses, at the young man casually leaning in the corner of the car, seven or eight meters away.

She knew she was crazy, caring so much that she impulsively came to the Magic City to look for this man named ”Zhou Wang.”

Qu Peining had a moment of regret when she impulsively boarded the plane.

After all, whatever the case, it was Jiang Mo and Zhou Wang’s private matter, and she seemingly had no reason to intervene.

But remembering Jiang Mo’s silent expression when questioned by her, Qu Peining’s determination returned.

Having grown up somewhat cynically due to life experiences, Qu Peining lacked friends, with Jiang Mo being the first and possibly only one. She couldn’t just watch her fall into a pit; while it might still be possible to stop her, helping Jiang Mo was a must...

The first step was to see for herself what kind of man Zhou Wang was.

Right at the airport, when she first saw him, Qu Peining knew she had made the right decision.

She couldn’t believe there was such a scummy man in the world, managing to encounter three different women in the same place...

What shocked Qu Peining the most was that of these three women, two of them she knew or had seen before.

One was the granddaughter of the Xia Family, the other the capital’s acknowledged number one talented woman, the Ding Family’s pride...

Though not often circulating in the Beijing Circle, having lived among a different elite group since her teenage years, Qu Peining was well aware of these outstanding peers.

After all, there was a time when she, too, was often talked about alongside them.

In summary, seeing Ding Yi and Xia Xiwei publicly fighting over the same man made Qu Peining feel as if the world was going mad.

... Or was it that she had been removed too long and the outside world had warped so much?

Ultimately, Qu Peining attributed all this to the man named ”Zhou Wang.”

She didn’t even know why she followed Zhou Wang; it was just a strong sense of unwillingness.

While she hadn’t figured out the entire plan, Qu Peining was confident in herself, believing she could easily handle this youth who, although muscular, was just a facade.

As for the man’s handsome appearance, Qu Peining simply disregarded it.

She never judged by looks, and had no interest in ”pretty boys.” Her preference was always for rugged real men.

And Qu Peining’s confidence was well-founded.

Bzzz!

Her phone vibrated.

Looking down, Qu Peining saw it was a message from someone with the codename ”11.”

”Peining, I’ve sent the materials you requested to your email. The content is miscellaneous but should be comprehensive. Also, while I don’t know what you’re up to, you’d better be careful. This Zhou Wang may not be simple...”

”What do you mean?”

Zhai Peining replied curiously, quickly opening her encrypted email to check Zhou Wang’s various details.

”I’m not too clear either. It’s just when I used the internal system to check him, my login account received an alert from the system. Luckily, I used some techniques and didn’t log in through my own account...”

”System alert? Are you saying this Zhou Wang has another identity and receives special protection?”

Zhai Peining read with some bewilderment, incredulously questioning her partner.

”It’s hard to say. I couldn’t find anything significant from the data. It might be due to insufficient account permissions, but that’s unlikely. In any case, you should be cautious...”

Zhai Peining frowned but didn’t take it quite as seriously after careful thought.

Given Zhou Wang’s age and wealthy status, some attention was quite normal.

”Understood, I’ll be careful. Also, I might stay out for a while. If the leadership or my parents ask, please handle it.”

”Come on, given your status and transfer to a civilian post, who’s really going to track your whereabouts?”

The person codenamed ”11” replied, ”You’ve been tense for too long. Consider this a holiday, take some time to relax. I’ll handle any issues.”

”Okay, thanks, remember to delete our communication records. I don’t want to involve you.”

”Don’t worry, I’m even more cautious than you. Contact me if needed, but I won’t reach out to you.”

After a pause, seeing no further response, Zhai Peining exited the encrypted communication software, then set aside her phone.

At that moment, the subway arrived at the station. When Zhai Peining looked up, Zhou Wang, who had been leaning in the car corner, was gone. Startled, she scanned quickly and saw Zhou Wang stepping out of the car just as the doors were closing. She hurriedly followed him as well...
