The Wealthy Tycoon's Game of Life

Chapter 1240: Chapter 473: Head-to-Head 1.0

”Which ’her’?”

Zhou Wang’s expression froze, instinctively starting to play dumb, hoping Ding Yi was just testing him or had misspoken.

But he quickly realized his thoughts were too naive.

Because the voice answering came from behind him...

”I think Yiyi meant me, the ’third party’ that shouldn’t be here, right?”

The voice should have sounded a bit playful, but to Zhou Wang, it was mixed with a biting cold wind.

He stiffly turned his head, only to find Xia Xiwei, who should still be wandering in the dessert shop, was already standing behind him.

She wasn’t holding a loaf of bread or ice cream, just carrying her LV travel bag.

She was still wearing a mask, but had taken off her sunglasses. Fortunately, the parking lot was relatively empty, and the chances of her being recognized by a passerby were low.

Seeing Xia Xiwei appear here so quickly, Zhou Wang realized he’d oversimplified everything.

Not only did Ding Yi notice something, but Xia Xiwei also picked up on it.

Yet, Zhou Wang couldn’t understand how they discovered each other’s presence. He felt there were no obvious flaws...

Just then, his phone started vibrating in his pocket again, obviously not Xia Xiwei calling him, but someone else trying to contact him.

But Zhou Wang had no time to care about that now, as he, feeling a bit irritated, pressed the mute button and quickly recalled the scene before, suddenly realizing something.

”Perfume...”

”Yes, it’s the perfume.”

Xia Xiwei laughed first, giving Zhou Wang a playful glance, ”Hmph, you big flirt, I smelled it when I hugged you. You have another woman’s scent on you... White musk, lily of the valley, hmm, and a hint of cedarwood, which seems to match Yiyi’s pure and innocent style!”

When Xia Xiwei said ”pure and innocent,” she emphasized the words.

Ding Yi frowned but soon relaxed, smiling likewise, ”Berry mixed with vanilla, Sister Xiwei, you’re still very ’sweet,’ but that cedarwood scent should be yours, which is a bit of a flaw!”

”Cedarwood? I don’t have...”

Xia Xiwei sounded puzzled.

Zhou Wang’s head was spinning from their conversation. He hadn’t considered the scent would be a giveaway... mostly from his lack of experience in dealing with such situations.

Seeing the two continue to argue, afraid they’d analyze out Jiang Qingkui’s existence, he hurriedly interrupted Xia Xiwei:

”Ahem, well, it’s my fault today, my fault, for not arranging your schedules properly... Why don’t we talk about it on the way back in the car?”

”How can it be your fault?”

Ding Yi shook her head lightly and said, ”If anyone’s at fault, it’s me for being tactless, or I shouldn’t have exposed you earlier. I just didn’t expect the woman pestering you to be Sister Xiwei. So... when did you two become so familiar? I thought you only met recently, right?”

Ding Yi maintained her smile, her eyes wandering between Zhou Wang and Xia Xiwei.

Ding Yi’s tone wasn’t sharp, so Zhou Wang didn’t detect anything, but to Xia Xiwei, each word was piercing.

What do you mean by ”I’m pestering Zhou Wang”?

She immediately raised her eyebrows and said with a smile, ”People also have their magnetic fields. Some never meet but feel like old friends at first sight, while others, even childhood friends, are merely familiar strangers... Yiyi, what do you say?”

Xia Xiwei’s words evidently struck a sensitive nerve in Ding Yi’s heart. Having known Ding Yi for so long, Zhou Wang saw for the first time her expression almost losing control. But it was only for a second; Ding Yi soon calmed down.

She smiled but didn’t argue with Xia Xiwei anymore, instead looking at Zhou Wang, who was momentarily dazed.

”That’s right. It’s me making it difficult for you, insisting you come to pick me up. I really should give such time to Sister Xiwei... Zhou Wang, long ago, I fell behind, and I don’t mind continuing to be last after her, right?”

Ding Yi’s question carried a sense of sadness, leaving Zhou Wang momentarily speechless.

He recalled Ding Yi from the ”audition rounds,” that pure and clear girl, the kiss, and the forgotten promise, an inexplicable guilt began to envelop Zhou Wang’s heart.

”I... I’m sorry.”

”Shh, why say sorry!”

Ding Yi held up her slender finger, gently touching Zhou Wang’s lips. She shook her head with a smile, sincerely saying, ”Why don’t you leave with Sister Xiwei? I have relatives in Magic City, I can have them pick me up...”

What a clever retreat!

Standing by, unable to stand the sticky sweet exchange, Xia Xiwei, seeing Zhou Wang was clearly moved, rolled her deep black eyes, stepped forward to wrap her arm around Zhou Wang’s, and laughed:

”Yiyi, what are you saying? Zhou Wang came to pick you up, how can you leave on your own? How about this, Zhou Wang, you send Ding Yi with this car, we’ll wait for the next one, and if necessary, I don’t mind taking the subway back with you~”

Xia Xiwei’s words sounded fine, even made concessions, but directly put Ding Yi in the ”guest” position. And with the intimate posture she displayed with Zhou Wang, Ding Yi’s recently calmed emotions became difficult to suppress once again.
