The Wealthy Tycoon's Game of Life

Chapter 141: Chapter 118 The Youngster is No Longer to be Seen_3

“Ha!”

Ding Yi suddenly burst into laughter, as bright as blossoming flowers.

“Hmm?”

The two had walked silently for a while without speaking. When Ding Yi suddenly laughed, Zhou Wang looked over in confusion.

“It’s nothing, I just remembered… When we were about to leave, my friends were all filled with resentment.”

“Why would there be resentment?” Zhou Wang was puzzled.

“Because they were already hungry! They hadn’t started eating since they were waiting for you. And then you went off chatting with me, so they had to wait longer, of course they were upset!”

“I hadn’t thought of that… But when I left, I already had Young Master Zhang arrange the food, so by the time we get back, it should be ready to eat.”

Zhou Wang chuckled.

“But I guess there’s another reason for their resentment.”

Ding Yi suddenly stopped, turned her head, and gazed at Zhou Wang with bright eyes.

“What?”

“Seeing such a handsome guy appear like that and not from the circle, yet I ‘snatched’ him away… That’s why!”

Ding Yi emphasized “snatched” and looked at Zhou Wang with a playful smile.

There she went again…

Back in freshman year, it was this very demeanor of hers that captured Zhou Wang.

Feeling a bit nostalgic, Zhou Wang tried to keep a straight face, “Haven’t I always been handsome? Why didn’t you ‘snatch’ me earlier?”

Zhou Wang retaliated, stressing his words too.

“Ha ha ha, back then you were only handsome for a while, Cai University Chen Guanxi!”

Hearing his old nickname brought up unexpectedly by Ding Yi, Zhou Wang felt a bit embarrassed.

But over time he had developed thicker skin, so Zhou Wang just cleared his throat lightly, “I can’t compete with you. After all, there were Cai University Daniel Wu, Cai University Li Xian, Cai University Xiao Zhan all vying with me, but you, ‘Cai University Zhang Yuxi,’ stand alone.”

Hearing that, Ding Yi also blushed a bit.

She was generally outgoing, but this was one of those rare things that embarrassed her.

The reason was that some overly dramatic guy, who was probably a fan of Zhang Yuxi, had unfurled a banner proposing to Ding Yi on the school field and wrote “Cai University Zhang Yuxi” on it. Somehow, it ended up online and even trended once.

That was one thing, but the fact that Zhang Yuxi herself liked the post and commented, “The younger sister is so beautiful,” really did it.

So, Ding Yi more or less became the officially acknowledged “Zhang Yuxi 2.0,” and this nickname stuck with her for some time.

When Cai University clubs initiated a campus beauty contest on their website, they often introduced her with similar comments.

This series of events had troubled her, making the once vibrant her even inclined toward introversion for a while.

Because even though the other person was a celebrity, Ding Yi’s personality wasn’t one to live under such a shadow.

And in all fairness, their features weren’t particularly similar, only that noble aura with a hint of mixed heritage was alike.

“Zhou Wang, just how many things have you kept from me?”

They both tacitly skipped this topic, Ding Yi turned to ask, “I know you’ve changed, but if you can make Zhang Zhiyuan go to such lengths to arrange this for you, it seems my information’s a bit outdated!”

Indeed, when she saw Zhou Wang show up, Ding Yi was surprised, but she wasn’t just any girl. Given what happened at the last birthday party, she quickly accepted this fact.

And with it came an even stronger curiosity.

“There were some serendipitous elements, made a little fortune in the crypto world.”

Zhou Wang was now well-versed in using this line of explanation.

Ding Yi was a bit stunned, she blinked, then leaned in slightly, smiling as she asked, “Now that you’ve gotten more handsome and richer, are you better at wooing girls?”

“What are you talking about? I’m not that kind of person.”

“But, you did fool me…”

Ding Yi lowered her gaze, sunset dappling her smooth face, Zhou Wang couldn’t see her expression, only heard her softly murmuring.

Taken by surprise, Zhou Wang wasn’t sure if she was referring to something specific, or if she just recalled their past flirtations and his subsequent distancing. For a moment, he didn’t know how to respond.

Thankfully, Ding Yi soon looked up again, her face still lit with a cheerful smile, “I think I’m hungry too, Zhou Wang, let’s go back to eat!”

“Almost forgot you were the biggest foodie.”

Zhou Wang laughed, “I’ve never figured out how you can eat six meals a day and still keep such a great figure.”

“It’s all-natural beauty, can’t help it!”

Ding Yi boasted, suddenly stretching her white hand out to Zhou Wang.

Zhou Wang looked over curiously.

“Let’s walk holding hands for 200 meters, it’s what I owe you~”

Ding Yi smiled like a flower, her dark eyes sparkled in the twilight.

Zhou Wang was startled, only then recalling a long-ago promise between them, a reward for Zhou Wang’s diligent studies back then, Ding Yi still owed him that hand-holding.

He didn’t say much, just took Ding Yi’s soft and warm hand.

As they neared the restaurant, Ding Yi suddenly turned back and looked at him.

“Zhou Wang.”

“Hmm?”

“Someone saw us.”

At first, Zhou Wang didn’t catch on, until Ding Yi blinked and pointed to the second-floor window of the private room.

When Zhou Wang looked up, he just caught someone retracting from the window, faint laughter seemed to drift from the room.

Before Zhou Wang could react, Ding Yi had released his hand and, with a smile, playfully nudged him from behind, pushing him forward.

“Quick, quick~ I’m starving!”
