Stellar Slacker: I Thought This Was an Idle Game!

The air above the front yard of Solitude Spire tore apart with a sound like ripping silk.

Prince Kenneth’s Tier 5 spellblade mana erupted in a blinding halo of sapphire fire.

His boots gouged the gravel as he broke sound speed. His body became a streak of azure lightning.

This was his signature, pinnacle martial art: the Nine-Fold Astral Comet Thrust.

Nine distinct supersonic vortexes of compressed wind-light spiraled around the tip of the Heaven-Slicing Rapier.

Gravel beneath his path ground into fine white dust. An ozone-choked vacuum trailed behind his strike.

”Witness the pride of the Silverwing Clan!” Kenneth roared, his voice distorted by supersonic shockwaves. ”Die with honor, peasant!”

Ten yards away on the porch steps, Lyra Ashford’s heart seized in pure terror.

Her hand gripped the hilt of her rapier, her body instinctively lunging forward to intercept the lethal blow.

”Senior Brother, look—!”

The shout died in her throat.

Lyra froze mid-step, her eyes widening as an overwhelming wave of realization washed over her.

Wait... * Lyra scolded herself in frantic inner panic. Why am I panicking for Senior Brother?! He has already compressed a burning sun into his chest!

He has foreseen this strike since dawn! He is simply allowing this arrogant child to display his full technique before delivering the divine judgment of the Void!

Lyra slowly stepped back, holding her breath in breathless reverence.

Meanwhile, on his low wooden stool, Felix Vance was dealing with a massive crisis of his own.

It had nothing to do with the supersonic sword screaming toward his forehead.

It had everything to do with his screen.

On his AetherDeck screen, Felix tried to navigate menus. He wanted to claim an offline milestone chest.

Suddenly, the cursor refused to move right.

Instead, the virtual pointer began drifting aggressively toward the upper-left corner of the screen, vibrating like a caffeinated flea.

A bright crimson warning box flashed across the screen:

[HARDWARE WARNING: INPUT SYSTEM ANOMALY]

Left Analog Rocker: SEVERE AXIS DRIFT DETECTED

Calibration Offset: -42.8% [STICK DRIFT ACTIVE]

Packet Latency: 520ms [CRITICAL PING SPIKE]

Input buffer clogged! System struggling to register commands.

Recommended Action: Clean debris from potentiometer or tap

device firmly against a solid surface to reset rocker axis.

Felix’s eyebrows twitched with pure, unadulterated gamer rage.

”Are you kidding me right now?!” Felix hissed under his breath.

”Stick drift?! On an ancient enchanted brass slate that fell through the void?!”

He mashed the right directional button with his thumb.

Nothing happened.

The cursor froze in the corner. The help menu flashed six times while the ping counter flashed red: [520ms].

”Cheap, unoptimized indie garbage hardware,” Felix muttered through clenched teeth. ”Every single console in every universe has the exact same joystick drift!”

In sheer, instinctive reflex, Felix did what every frustrated gamer on Earth had done since the invention of plastic controllers.

He gave the edge of the obsidian slate a sharp, authoritative smack against his right knee.

WHACK.

To clear the sticky button, Felix jerked his right elbow upward and backward. The movement was pure reflex.

This was no martial technique, nor was it an ancient palm strike.

It was just an irritated, twitchy elbow adjustment born of three thousand hours of gaming frustration.

However, Felix had forgotten a minor detail.

Inside his dantian, nestled behind his ribs, sat a 1.0-Earth-Mass celestial body rotating at fifteen million Kelvin.

Felix jerked his elbow. The reflex was backed by six sextillion kilograms of dense planetary mass.

The space around his elbow warped.

Light bent into a microscopic optical ring around his frayed hemp sleeve.

A razor-thin localized gravitational shear wave—silent, invisible, and absolute—rippled outward through the air.

At that exact millisecond, Prince Kenneth arrived.

The glowing, supersonic tip of the Heaven-Slicing Rapier struck the space directly beside Felix’s right arm.

Or rather, Felix’s upward-jerking elbow casually clipped the flat side of the meteoric star-silver blade.

CLAAAAAAANG-SHATTER!

It did not sound like a sword clash. It sounded like brittle crystal striking an unstoppable asteroid.

The Sixth-Tier Heaven-Slicing Rapier—an ancestral relic celebrated across the Eastern Skies for cutting through enchanted granite—did not bend.

It did not slide off.

It snapped under the sheer, violent vibration.

CRACK-SNAP-PING!

The four-foot blade violently shattered into three distinct, spinning segments:

The sword tip snapped off and shot into the sky. It whistled like a firework and buried into a pine trunk.

The middle blade fractured with azure sparks. It spun sideways, neatly slicing wild dandelions in half.

The base of the blade snapped off flush with the crossguard, disintegrating into a cloud of glittering silver dust.

The kinetic backlash hit Prince Kenneth like a freight train.

The shockwave tore through his silver gauntlets, shredding the metal into twisted foil.

His sapphire silk cape was instantly ripped to ribbons, fluttering across the yard like blue confetti.

”GURK?!” Kenneth choked, all the air violently blasted from his lungs.

Kenneth flew backward through the air like a ragdoll. He skidded fifteen yards on his chest, landing outside the fence.

Silence descended over Solitude Spire.

The only sound was the gentle rustling of the cabbage leaves in the morning breeze.

On the porch, Felix looked down at his AetherDeck.

The screen gave a crisp, cheerful BEEP:

[HARDWARE STATUS: RESTORED]

Analog Rocker Axis: RE-CENTERED [CALIBRATION 100%]

Stick Drift: RESOLVED

Network Latency: 38ms (Optimal)

Claiming Offline Milestone Chest... SUCCESS!

Rewards: 500x Idle Coins, 1x Mythic Cabbage Seed

Felix let out a long, satisfied breath, his shoulders relaxing.

”Oh, thank god,” Felix murmured, gently rubbing his thumb over the brass rocker. ”Percussive maintenance never fails. A good whack against the knee fixes any controller.”

Meanwhile, fifteen yards away, Prince Kenneth was slowly peeling his face out of the gravel.

Blood dripped from his scraped nose.

His immaculate silver armor was dented, covered in chicken feathers from his earlier griffon crash, and coated in gray dirt.

His right arm was completely numb, vibrating with residual kinetic shock.

Kenneth stared down at his trembling hand.

He was holding a bare, useless sword hilt.

The blade was gone.

The fractured rapier lay three paces away in the dirt. Its azure runes were completely dark and dead.

Kenneth’s pupils shrank to needlepoints.

His jaw dropped open so wide that several loose pebbles fell out of his mouth.

*My... * Kenneth’s mind screamed in sheer, paralyzed horror.

*The Heaven-Slicing Rapier... passed down through nine generations of the Silverwing Clan...

Shattered.

Shattered in a single heartbeat.

Then, Kenneth’s brain began to process the physical details of what had just occurred.

And the moment he did, his entire reality collapsed into terrifying, awe-inspiring madness.

He... he didn’t stand up, Kenneth thought, his breath coming in ragged, wheezing gasps.

He didn’t draw a weapon. He didn’t circulate mana. He didn’t even look at me!

He was staring at his sacred obsidian divination slate!

When my supersonic comet thrust reached his domain, he didn’t even deem it worthy of a hand strike! He merely... twitched an elbow!

Kenneth stared at the three pieces of broken steel scattered across the yard.

Why three pieces?

Why not dust? Why not two?

A blinding thunderclap of spiritual revelation detonated inside Kenneth’s soul.

Three pieces! Kenneth thought, his eyes welling with sudden, overwhelming tears of religious ecstasy.

Past! Present! Future!

The tip of the blade represents my past arrogance! The middle represents my present flawed technique! The broken base represents my future liberation from material attachments!

Senior Brother Vance didn’t just parry my sword... he severed my karmic shackles!

He saw that I was trapped in the shallow cage of weapon dependence! He saw that my soul was chained to a piece of meteoric steel! With a single divine twitch of his elbow, he broke my false sword to bestow upon me the True Formless Sword of the Heavens!

This is... the Dao of the Broken Edge!

The supreme sword art that transcends physical steel!

Kenneth began to tremble violently.

Cuts, bruised ribs, and ruined armor faded away. Kenneth felt only awe before this sovereign’s boundless compassion.

Kenneth scrambled onto his knees.

He didn’t care about his royal dignity.

He didn’t care about the Blade Spire.

Kenneth slammed both hands into the dirt. He bowed until his forehead cracked against sharp gravel.

”Master Vance!” Kenneth sobbed, tears cutting clean tracks through the dirt on his cheeks.

”Senior Brother Vance! This foolish disciple was blind! I was arrogant, blinded by mortal steel and ancestral vanity!”

He slammed his head against the ground a second time.

THUD.

”You saw through the rot of my sword heart with a single glance!” Kenneth wept loudly.

”You shattered my reliance on material weapons to awaken my Formless Sword Intent! You have bestowed upon me the Dao of the Broken Edge! This disciple shall treasure this lesson for ten thousand lifetimes!”

On the porch, Felix paused mid-stride as he stood up to stretch his legs.

He looked down at the hysterical prince currently groveling in the driveway, violently smashing his own face into the rocks.

Felix’s Inspector HUD blinked:

【Target: Prince Kenneth of Silverwing】 【Status: Severe Psychological Break / Spontaneous Enlightenment】 【Threat Level: Harmless Confused NPC】 【Inspector Note: Suffered an extreme logic loop error after his brittle pay-to-win weapon broke on your elbow. Has completely rewritten his internal lore to rationalize his skill issue. Recommend shooing him away before he stains the porch with tears.】

Felix rubbed the bridge of his nose, thoroughly exasperated.

”Look, kid,” Felix said, his voice flat and tired. ”You broke your own sword because the metal had micro-fractures and zero tensile strength. You bought a brittle glow-stick.”

Kenneth lifted his dirt-caked face, his eyes shining with manic, holy enlightenment.

”Yes! Exactly as Senior Brother says!”

Kenneth cried out in reverent agreement. ”Mortal steel is but a brittle glow-stick before the eternal radiance of the True Dao! Your divine words pierce straight to my marrow!”

Felix stared at him for a long, quiet moment.

”Right,” Felix sighed, turning toward the kitchen door. ”Whatever helps you sleep at night. Just pick up your broken metal scrap and get off my property. You’re tracking dust onto the front steps, and Lyra just swept.”

Kenneth gasped, deeply moved by Felix’s profound ascetic simplicity.

He demands no treasure! He demands no blood! He merely asks for clean steps and humble discipline!

”This disciple obeys!” Kenneth shouted with fierce devotion.

Scrambling on hands and knees, Kenneth gathered the broken sword pieces. He clutched them like holy scriptures.

He bowed three more times while backing away on his knees. Then he dragged his griffon toward the clouds, eager to study the Formless Sword.

On the porch, Lyra watched Kenneth vanish into the eastern mist.

She turned to Felix, her eyes shimmering with absolute, terrified adoration.

With one flick of his elbow, he humbled the Blade Spire’s prodigy! Lyra whispered in awe.* Senior Brother’s mercy... is truly terrifying.*
