Stellar Slacker: I Thought This Was an Idle Game!

Night fell over the floating archipelago of Aethelgard like dark velvet.

High above the clouds, two crescent moons drifted across the starry sky. One moon shone pale silver.

The other glowed cold azure. They cast pale light against the soaring marble spires of Radiant Dawn Academy.

On the other six spires, the lights had long been extinguished.

Rumors of the morning disaster had spread through the dorms like wildfire. Arch-Inquisitor Valen and his disciples had been found seven miles away.

They hung from the branches of a giant cloud-cedar with their flying sword bent like a horseshoe. Their silk robes were scorched to ribbons.

Valen had refused to speak a single word. He locked himself inside the Fifth Spire shrine. He rocked back and forth, muttering about the silent hand that moves the stars.

As a result, no one dared look toward the dark silhouette of the Seventh Spire.

To the academy, Solitude Spire was no longer just a neglected junk heap. It was a dormant volcano of unspeakable malice.

Inside the small timber cottage, Felix Vance sat at the pine table. A glass kerosene lamp filled the room with warm yellow light.

He wore his favorite faded hemp tunic. A pair of warm wool socks protected his feet from the chilly draft seeping through the floorboards.

In front of him, the pine table remained perfectly level and rock-solid. The nine-dragon Sovereign Heart Seal held it firmly anchored beneath its wobbly left leg.

Felix took a sip of warm jasmine tea from a chipped mug. He set it down without spilling a single drop. Then he tapped the obsidian screen of the AetherDeck.

【Item: Chipped Ceramic Mug】 【Grade: Common Earthenware】 【Inspector Note: Has a small crack near the rim. Holds warm jasmine tea admirably well. Sells for 0 copper coins to the junk vendor, but possesses infinite sentimental value for lazy mornings.】

The screen did not open to the usual retro dungeon crawler.

Instead, a series of bright golden notifications flashed across the display:

[AETHERDECK OS: MILESTONE NOTIFICATION]

Player Level: 10.0 REACHED [TUTORIAL COMPLETE]

Accumulated Idle Energy: 50,000,000 Cosmic Watts

Core Chamber Status: UNLOCKED / UNINITIALIZED

[MANDATORY EVENT]: CLASS AWAKENING / CORE CONDENSATION

The system requires a central power pivot to automate

future idle rewards.

Select Core Template:

[A] Standard Mana Pearl (10 Mana / 1x Idle Multiplier)

[B] Elemental Runic Crystal (50 Mana / 2x Multiplier)

[C] Custom Physics Sandbox: Celestial Body [UNSTABLE]

[PRESS BUTTON TO CONFIRM SELECTION]

Felix leaned back in his wooden chair. He read through the three options with narrow, calculating eyes.

”Option A: Standard Mana Pearl,” Felix muttered aloud. ”A tiny biological marble. It gives ten mana and a one-times idle multiplier. Total starter trash.”

He looked at the second option.

”Option B: Elemental Runic Crystal. A two-times multiplier. Still absolute garbage. What gamer settles for two times when building an automated idle engine?”

His thumb hovered over Option C: [Custom Physics Sandbox: Celestial Body].

Felix chuckled softly.

Back on Earth, Felix had logged over three thousand hours in space physics sandbox simulators. He knew orbital mechanics like the back of his hand. He understood density, gravitational constants, and planetary mass.

In traditional Aethelgard manuals, core formation was treated with religious dread.

Disciples spent twenty years meditating in freezing caves. They swallowed hundreds of expensive purifying pills. They prayed that their mana would condense into a delicate seed the size of an apricot pit.

If their concentration slipped for a single second, the mana collapsed. Their meridians tore apart. They spent the rest of their lives coughing blood.

Stolen from NovelPhoenix, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.

Felix looked at the screen and shook his head.

”Why do fantasy writers make core formation so needlessly complicated?” Felix said to the empty room.

”A core isn’t a fragile glass bead. A core is an engine. You need something heavy and stable to anchor your stats.”

He pressed the [C] button.

The obsidian slate chimed happily.* Ding-ding-dong!*

The screen shifted into a high-resolution 3D wireframe interface.

A floating virtual sphere appeared in the center. Sliders surrounded it on all sides: Mass, Core Density, Gravitational Constant, and Thermal Output.

A flashing red warning prompt popped up on the display:

[WARNING: STELLAR IGNITION DANGER]

G-Type Main-Sequence Star ignition requires 15M Kelvin.

Thermal radiance will incinerate organic fabric within 5m.

Extreme solar flare venting hazard detected.

Choose Core Configuration:

[1] Thermonuclear Star (High Heat / Extreme Hazard)

[2] Dense Rocky Planet (Heavy Mass / High Stability / Safe)

Felix looked at the fiery star option and instantly recoiled.

”Fifteen million degrees in my stomach?” Felix muttered, shaking his head in disgust.

”Are the developers insane? I’ll start small with a heavy rock planet so I don’t burn my clothes off.”

He tapped the second option: [Dense Rocky Planet].

”Let’s see,” Felix muttered, his fingers flying across the directional rocker. ”We’ll grab that sack of twelve hundred compressed star-iron ore cubes from under the bed. That will give us a dense, rocky gravitational foundation.”

He tapped a prompt: [Import Inventory Asset: 1,200x Compressed Star-Iron Ore].

Beneath his bed, the heavy burlap sack vanished into thin air.

On his screen, the wireframe sphere gained incredible, condensed density. The gravitational mass calculator ticked upward rapidly:

[Core Mass: 5.97 × 10^24 kg (~1.00 Earth Mass)] [Surface Gravity Anchor: 100.0G (Extreme Compression)] [Thermal Profile: 72°F (Room Temperature / Cozy)]

Felix nodded in deep satisfaction.

”Zero open flames. No thermonuclear sunburns,” Felix smiled.

”Just pure, solid, heavy rock. That is how you build a stable foundation.”

The slate gave a sharp, comfortable vibration:

[AETHERDECK OS: PLANETARY CORE CONDENSATION READY]

Core Type: Dense Terrestrial Rocky Core

Total Mass: 1.00 Earth Mass (Condensed to 2-inch sphere)

Gravitational Anchor: 100G Localized Compression

Thermal State: Stable Room Temperature

Do you wish to condense the Rocky Core into your Dantian?

[YES] [NO]

Felix hovered his thumb over [YES].

”Automate the grind,” Felix whispered. ”Let’s get this idle engine turning over.”

He pressed down firmly on the glass.

For a fraction of a millisecond, the kitchen went dead silent.

Inside Felix’s chest, deep within his lower solar plexus, a single microscopic point of compressed matter collapsed inward.

Then, it settled.

THUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUM.

The sound was not an explosion. It was the deep, resonant thrum of six sextillion tons of compressed star-iron settling into orbital balance.

A dense, smooth, polished orb of solid dark rock and magnetic iron began to slowly rotate inside Felix’s dantian. It was roughly two inches in diameter. Yet it possessed the full gravitational mass of an entire planetary sphere.

A wave of soothing, grounded warmth washed through his veins.

To Felix, it felt like sinking into a heavy weighted blanket on a chilly autumn evening. His back stiffness vanished instantly. His tired muscles relaxed into blissful comfort.

A small green icon appeared in the corner of his vision:

[Status: Dense Rocky Core Online (1.00 Earth Mass)] [Idle Energy Generation: +1,000% Multiplier] [Passive Stat: 100G Gravitational Anchor (Immune to Knockback)] [Developer Note: Core is stable. Heavy as a planet. Try not to jump too hard.]

”Oh, yeah,” Felix sighed happily, sinking deeper into his wooden chair. ”That is the good stuff. Like a warm cup of cocoa after a long day of doing nothing.”

Outside the cottage, however, the laws of nature screamed in panic.

Lyra Ashford was sitting on the porch steps. She was polishing her mithril rapier with an oily rag under the pale moonlight.

Suddenly, her hands jerked downward.

CLANG!

Her rapier struck the cedar boards like a dropped iron anvil. The hilt felt ten times heavier than normal.

Then, the mountain shuddered.

CRACK-GROOOOOOAN!

The entire Seventh Spire—a floating island measuring four miles across—groaned in structural agony.

The colossal mithril suspension chains connecting it to the other peaks pulled taut with a screech of twisting metal.

A terrifying planetary mass anchored to the cottage. The entire island sank three yards into the clouds. It displaced a massive tidal wave of white mist that rolled outward across the night sky.

The black loam in the garden compacted into rich, dense earth. The cabbage seed Lyra had planted earlier rooted deep into the dirt, drinking in the heavy gravitational stability.

Three miles away, on the Solar Peak of Radiant Dawn Academy, thousands of disciples bolted from their beds in terror.

The entire mountain had jolted beneath their feet like a bucking mule.

Grand elders in azure silk robes rushed to their balconies. They stared toward the western sky with eyes wide with horror.

”An earthquake?!” an ancient elder shrieked, clutching his wobbling nightcap. ”How can a floating sky-island have an earthquake?!”

”It is not an earthquake!” the Grand Chancellor gasped, clutching the balcony railing as his knees wobbled.

”Look at the atmospheric shear! That is... that is the primordial gravitational anchor of an Earth Titan!”

He swallowed hard, his white beard trembling in the cold wind.

”The ancient sovereign of Solitude Spire has dropped his anchor!” the Chancellor whispered in dread.

”He has bound the mass of an entire continent to his porch! If he takes another step, the heavens themselves might be dragged down!”

Disciples fell to their knees on the marble plazas, weeping and praying to the distant peak.

Inside the cottage, Felix finished the last sip of his jasmine tea.

He noticed the floorboards had settled about half an inch lower against the bedrock outside.

”Huh,” Felix remarked, setting his mug in the sink. ”The foundation must be settling. Soft soil physics always get sloppy in these indie game engines.”

He stretched his arms, let out a comfortable yawn, and shuffled toward the bedroom.

”Whatever,” Felix murmured, climbing under his wool blanket and pulling it up to his chin. ”Not my problem. As long as the idle numbers keep ticking, the devs can mess with the gravity all they want.”

Outside on the porch, bathed in the cool silver moonlight, Lyra Ashford remained kneeling on the cedar floorboards.

Her violet eyes were wide with sacred wonder. Her hands touched the dense, vibrating wood.

She felt the immense, planetary weight radiating from the small bedroom down the hall. It was steady.

It was unyielding. It was heavier than ten thousand mountains.

He did not forge a fragile pearl, Lyra whispered to her trembling soul.* He anchored a whole world inside his chest.*

He is not an archmage.

He is the Lord of the Earth.
