Pillar of Yita

”However, the Arcane Thief—or known formally as the Shadow Nightingale—does not have strong direct combat abilities and relies heavily on terrain during a battle, which has long been criticized. Actually, if you like the Shadow Dancer, there’s another option.”

Elisa was momentarily stunned.

She actually knew early on that after reaching Level 20 as a Nightingale, she would have such a choice, especially since she had formal training. During her time in the Rain Listener’s Youth Training Camp, their career mentor detailed the profession planning after that.

Later, when she joined the Rain Listener’s brigade, the Lonely White Field shared with them multiple times about what profession choices should be made.

But she had never heard of there being a third path.

Just because she never heard of it, doesn’t mean Fang Hong didn’t know.

Honestly, concerning some basic knowledge about Eteliria, he wasn’t completely ignorant—but it depended on which aspect. If it was related to the Natives, and some fairly ordinary or low-level knowledge, he might really not know much.

But when it came to some top-tier subjects, related to the Second World, and some obscure knowledge, he knew everything in detail. This mainly had to do with ’R’s method of training him, after all, the other party was too lazy to talk about these trivial things with him.

It can be said that any mention was either about the top ten level, or the Ten Kings, or a top-tier player. The only exception was some interesting details within the circle, as these details often came from those legendary players.

For instance, the Overload Tactics invented by the Tactical Master. Most people might not recognize it, but Fang Hong could identify it at a glance.

This time was the same, as soon as he saw the Shadow Dagger in Elisa’s hand, he remembered something.

This dagger is a token of the Shadow Brotherhood—it originally required completing a series of tasks and gaining the Brotherhood’s trust before it could be obtained. The main function of this dagger is to allow the Brotherhood to assign a mentor to choose to learn the Brotherhood’s two heritage skills—

Cunning Tactics and Arcane Bloodline.

However, ever since the Invokers flooded in, just like many other things, this also changed in nature. Some people specifically approached the Shadow Brotherhood, completed the tasks, then used points to exchange for the dagger, and resell it to others.

The people engaging in this often were Bounty Hunters, and they referred to this process as ’reputation farming’—an old behavior in online games.

And since not many people initially got into this business, it led to the exorbitant price of Shadow Daggers circulating outside, yet many Grand Guilds wouldn’t care for such ’small change,’ choosing to save time by buying directly from the black market.

Over time, as people tasted the benefits, ’reputation farming’ gradually became a complete and huge industry chain, and it was no longer limited to the Shadow Brotherhood.

However, the Natives controlling the Shadow Brotherhood were no fools, so they simply lifted the restriction on Shadow Daggers, turning the Brotherhood’s ancient ’rule’ into a business, allowing anyone to buy a dagger as long as they paid.

It’s equivalent to selling skills to outsiders.

Unexpectedly, this did not lead to the Brotherhood’s decline due to their distinctive skills falling into others’ hands, as some worried—instead, it even thrived and became the leading Thief Brotherhood in Colin Ishurian.

This also left people not knowing whether to laugh or cry, not sure if this was one of the changes brought by the Earthlings.

But the dagger in Elisa’s hand wasn’t purchased—due to building the Seven Seas Traveler, they didn’t have the funds. She obtained it by actually completing the tasks, with the help of others during the process.

And Fang Hong happened to know that by following the ancient ’Maxim,’ the daggers obtained according to Brotherhood rules have some differences from those purchased outside, and the Brotherhood learned that these cannot be transferred.

Of course, as such, it also means there are some special benefits.

Speaking of this, Fang Hong couldn’t help but think of something ’R’ once told him before he came to Eteliria.

The story’s protagonist happens to be a legendary player, who was also one of the Ten Kings and a Nightingale Ten King. For their generation, it was quite an ancient tale.

He was about to speak but saw the door of the storeroom open, and then Hilveld and Xiesta stepped out.

The Noble Lady saw him and couldn’t help but smile, ”Back already? I heard that Lord Captain had some discoveries at the Artisan Association before.”

Fang Hong was startled, then nodded.

He had already informed the others about the clues he discovered at the Tansnier Crafting Association before leaving and returning here. However, in the Communication Crystal, he didn’t go into detail, only briefly mentioned that what the Arcanists were searching for might be related to those Slave Traders.

”Actually, I also happen to have some matters that might be related,” Hilveld answered, but she glanced at the two in front of her, ”But does Lord Captain have anything to say to Miss Elisa? I’m not in a rush, you can finish your conversation first.”

Fang Hong naturally replied, ”Ah, I was talking to Elisa about career matters—”

”No need,” Elisa interjected with a playful smile, ”It’s nothing urgent, after all, I can’t learn the corresponding skills right away, what’s happening now is more important.”

As she spoke, she gave Fang Hong an amused wink.

The gossipy look seemed to be saying that if Lord Captain continued on Miss Ship’s Officer’s topic, he would be in trouble.

Fang Hong looked bewilderedly at the two.
