Pillar of Yita

There’s no other way, Fang Hong could only take a step back, temporarily not thinking about that large sum of money, and simply asked:

”Alright then, if I want to make the blueprints I’ve recorded public, do I need to pay a fee?”

After the shock of twelve thousand points, Camilla looked at him differently.

The little girl respectfully shook her head and replied, ”Not only do you not need to pay, the guild even offers rewards.”

Fang Hong nodded.

To make blueprints public means that everyone can use them—of course, this isn’t free.

The craftsman community values knowledge sharing rather than monopolization, perhaps as a form of commemoration of the Numelin Elves who imparted knowledge to humans back then—it was an unintentional good deed that led to great results—today, the free flow of knowledge has also fostered the prosperity and development of alchemy, and over time, as people recognized the benefits, corresponding rules were established one by one.

After the arrival of Earthlings, the mechanism of patent laws was introduced, making the whole system even more rigorous.

An excellent design blueprint often brings multifaceted benefits to craftsmen, one being the patent fees for the blueprint, which the author can enjoy until they pass away or leave this world.

Don’t underestimate this income, it amounts to thirty-five percent of the blueprint’s cost, meaning that every time others manufacture a completed product, they have to pay thirty-five percent of the cost, exclusively to the blueprint provider. This fee continues until the blueprint provider leaves this world, after which it switches to a buyout system—

This contract has the dual guarantee of Angina and Lady Roman, and ordinary people dare not violate it lightly.

However, there’s something special here because the Invoker craftsman often leaves this world especially early—as Life Profession Practitioners, they generally don’t surpass forty-five years old, hence the Artisan Association especially likes to record the blueprints of Invoker Alchemists and might even lower some standards.

So under Camilla’s guidance, after Fang Hong completed the form, the latter applied for the Information Crystal, and after a series of procedures—Fang Hong finally obtained his first bucket of gold from his blueprint.

Three Istania gold coins.

Approximately equivalent to thirteen hundred Lycel.

This is the guild’s advance on patent fees, although most ultimately don’t recoup the costs, the guild doesn’t pursue it, more or less as a form of encouragement for the designer.

Camilla added on the side, ”I’ve heard that some people nowadays make slight modifications to ordinary blueprints just to earn a bit of petty money, these blueprints are meaningless and only made to avoid plagiarism checks. Now the Artisan Association has further strengthened the review process to deal with these people... Hmph, there are these scheming individuals everywhere.”

She glanced at Fang Hong and quickly added, ”I’m not talking about Mr. Ade, Mr. Ade is much more capable than those people.”

Fang Hong couldn’t help but chuckle.

Yet he had to admit, indeed, there are always such people around.

As the two were chatting, suddenly a group of people entered the guild hall from outside, Fang Hong turned his head to look and realized it was a group of Arcanists in purple robes.

He was slightly taken aback but then remembered these people—they seemed to have encountered them when heading to the Sand Lodge that day—he couldn’t help but look back, wondering if the little girl Parker saw that day was among them.

But as he looked over, he suddenly remembered that they had rushed out that day without knowing if it was related to the Wandering Alchemist? After all, Arcanists and Necromancers hold high status in Istania, not inferior to the Royal Household, and even the Princess might not be able to get any information from them.

While he was pondering, the little girl behind him spoke again:

”It’s those Arcanists again.”

”What?” Fang Hong turned back, ”Have they appeared recently?”

Camilla looked over there and lightly nodded.
