Pillar of Yita

From this, it’s evident that the Primordial Giants at least have the qualification to battle the gods.

And speaking of it, the Dark Giant Dragons are actually native creations.

They were originally the offspring and believers of the Dragon Guardian Bahamut, but were enticed by the Dark Force and became Dark Giant Dragons. Because of this, they were cursed by the Dragon Guardian, eternally losing the dragons’ magic that dragons took pride in.

Perhaps to proclaim the legitimacy of the victors, the Mortal Kingdoms somewhat embellished the prowess of the Dark Giant Dragons, and after the Numelin Elves left, the sacrifices and efforts made by mortals for the peace of Eteliria. Although the blood shed by heroes, indeed the mortals paid not a small price to achieve the final victory of the war—Oathkeeper, Yoshude, Lady Misu, Mr. Mazak, and even Miss Eve, they were all heroes of this war that continues to this day.

For this reason, such a depiction is not unjustified.

However, it inevitably would have some influence on historical records and the understanding of posterity. But a deeper thought would reveal the discrepancies between history and reality.

What, then, does the Star of Calamity truly symbolize?

Listening to the description of the Archmage, the Star of Calamity seems like another world completely opposed to Eteliria, where beings bask in the light—humans, Dwarves, and Elves, even Half-Persons and the Wilderness People of Rotao, all born under the starlight, are children of the Light.

Yet in another world of darkness, countless Dark Beings lurk, as if their existence is to devour this world.

But is the Star of Calamity truly just one world?

Then what do the First Calamity Star and the Second Calamity Star represent? After the Giant War, where did Verdant go? What is the link between the Third Calamity Star prophesied by the Lizardman Prophets and Verdant? Are the Dark Creatures of the Third Calamity Star the same as those of the First and Second Calamity Stars?

This time, will there be Giants or Dark Giant Dragons born?

Unfortunately, the answers to all these questions remain a mystery.

The source of everything is because the era of the First Calamity Star’s arrival is too remote. Even mastering the information from before the Aithelin Disaster is so challenging, they can only speculate what happened back then from the scarce records surviving in ancient documents.

As for the First Era, the Xinsas Serpentfolk era, it is powerless to understand everything that happened. How the Xinsas Serpentfolk defeated the First Calamity Star and whether there was another civilization similar to the Numelin Elves for mortals before them?

But looking at the Elves being the teachers of the Mortal Kingdoms, it’s true that it was undoubtedly the dragons who first taught the Serpent People the power of magic. Could it mean that the First Era was actually the era of dragons?

Yet with the dragons’ long life and memory, they should not have forgotten everything that happened back then.

Fang Hong snapped back from his endless thoughts and realized that if Kalatu’s words hold true, Eteliria should now be on the brink of crisis. If the Third Calamity Star is truly about to descend, the time left for the Mortal Kingdoms should already be running short.

In the time since the era of the Numelin Elves, it’s just been merely a thousand years, with nearly half of that time the Mortal Kingdoms were still fighting the Dark Giant Dragons, continuing even until today. Now as the Calamity Star returns, are the Mortal Kingdoms truly ready to face all this?

Or rather, a different question, can the current Mortal Kingdoms reach the level of the Numelin Empire of the past?

He frowned, looking at the description on his Light Page, still holding a sliver of hope—at least all this has nothing to do with Earth. After crossing a Stargate, Eteliria’s calamity should, by any means, not affect what’s happening in another world, right?

He’s not being cowardly, or feeling detached. He just doesn’t want more people caught up in it, especially his uncle, aunt, and Tang Xin’s family. They came to Eteliria because of him, and if they could return to Earth to avoid all this, there would be nothing to worry about.

But then he recalled those words Su Changfeng said to him.

Can those at Stargate Port remain unaffected?

He vaguely felt something wasn’t right.

This information, even he can grasp. In such a vast Eteliria, it can’t just be him, Kalatu, and Tang De investigating matters related to the Calamity Star, right? The prophecies of the Lizardmen have never been hidden from outsiders, and the scholars of Eteliria can’t be completely unconcerned about this.

And he’s just one person, while Stargate Port hosts tens of thousands of Invokers, compiling information from all sides, surely more comprehensive than his. Can it be that the people of Stargate Port truly know nothing of the ’Calamity Star’? Or are they overly confident in the physical barrier between the two worlds?

The more Fang Hong thought about it, the more uneasy he felt, so he put the thought aside—as with all those harboring a sense of wishful thinking, he couldn’t help but ask:

”The descent of the Calamity Star should be a long process, right?”

”In theory, yes,” Kalatu replied, ”but the issue is not that simple.”

”My main body isn’t here, but I’ve learned some things from Tang De. And from some information I saw in the Second World, it seems to confirm this point indirectly.”

”After the Aithelin Disaster, the foundation of Eteliria is shaking—all the Floating Continents are experiencing varying degrees of rapid depletion of Guy Crystals. This situation was actually noticed on the Osh Mainland five years ago, but at the time it was only thought to be due to over-exploitation.”
