Pillar of Yita

”Rolin said he is a demon.”

”His actions truly befit a demon, but I reserve my opinion on this matter. I always feel Rolin hasn’t told us the whole truth, Miss Atira.”

”Then are you afraid of being enemies with such a person?”

Fang Hong was taken aback, realizing he had never considered this question before.

Was he afraid? To say afraid, not really. He feared losing the people around him, but he hadn’t given much thought to his own safety. It’s not that he possessed some grand fearless spirit, but rather because he was an Invoker.

He had a chance to start over, even if all seemed lost, but ultimately, he could still return to Earth.

However, if he couldn’t see Hilveld and Miss Atira again, along with others, there would be some sadness.

But in such matters of great importance, what do these personal gains and losses amount to? Who hasn’t had a hero’s dream? Compared to those who have truly sacrificed their lives, he felt he merely had something to rely on.

Yet to say he had no worries at all wouldn’t be entirely true. He feared dragging the people around him into the fray and worried that his efforts might be in vain. Facing such a person, even the Ten Kings couldn’t claim complete certainty, right?

Let alone him.

Of course, he also had the military backing him.

But he could not wait any longer; just ahead lay Miss Eve, and the later he acted, the more likely the other party’s plan would succeed. Perhaps it wouldn’t have any impact, but perhaps it might stir gigantic waves within Colin Ishurian.

The birth of a Dark Saint wouldn’t come without a trail of bones, would it?

He could be afraid, but he could not stop.

Fang Hong shook his head and replied:

”A hundred years ago was actually when he was closest to success. Not only did he manage to steal the Holy Sword Moa from somewhere, but he also successfully infused Lifegard’s strength into his own daughter—although Aimumu Fortress was destroyed, he could almost say he succeeded.”

”Later, when his deeds were exposed, it turned the Ailin Green Family and the Rogsel Family into lifelong enemies, and although he dared not return to Aimumu Fortress again, he took Eve and, after several years of wandering, arrived at the home of the Oathkeeper Clan in the desert.”

”There, with sweet words, he beguiled the Great Elder of Dragon’s Land, attempting to convince him that Nikopolas was, in fact, the one from the legend who could bring liberation to the Oathkeeper Clan. And the elderly and muddle-headed Great Elder, blinded by greed, obviously chose to believe such a statement.”

”Afterward, Garcia also joined his plan, and step by step, they pressed Miss Eve into a desperate situation, igniting the fire within her heart, transforming her rage and hatred into the Dark Giant Dragon—Nikopolas.”

”But Mr. Mazak said Nikopolas had a peculiar nature and was the disaster foretold in the prophecy. He made one mistake, though. Eve was not a person of disaster; she was actually the most steadfast and brave person I had ever seen.”

”Under such circumstances, she still managed to hold onto a shred of hope until that hope was ultimately shattered, only then transforming into a dragon. Enduring a long three-year imprisonment while bearing Dragon’s Blood, how many could persist like that?”

”So, I suppose the Wanderer didn’t entirely lie. Nikopolas truly was the Savior of the Oathkeeper Clan. Unfortunately, they chose to drive their Savior into a corner through another means.”

”Thus, the prophecy was verified in a sarcastic manner. Eve disappeared, and Nikopolas indeed became the ’disaster’ foretold by prophecy. But was the girl named Evril-Nikopolas truly the bringer of disaster?”

”Rather, it was people’s own selves—”

”And that day in Idus was the moment when that Wanderer was closest to his own success. Everything played out according to his plan, as intended. Otherwise, a century ago, a dark saint would have been born.”

”But then, Miss Atira, we all know what happened afterward.” Fang Hong turned back: ”Even when he was so close to success, he still failed. Ten years later, Nikopolas’s plot within the Ishurian Court unraveled, and Kalatu joined forces with Yoshude for a battle—”

”That battle, it happened in the Ash Woods,” Fang Hong spoke as if he had seen it with his own eyes, eloquently narrating: ”Subsequently, Nikopolas was defeated, and later, in the battle of Dolifen, he even lost the more precious Dragon’s Golden Eyes.”

”Meticulously planned and ingeniously crafted,” Fang Hong replied word by word: ”Yet it couldn’t match the righteousness of people’s hearts; some things are bound to fail.”

”So,” he asked: ”Why should I fear someone destined to fail?”

He lifted his head, looking into the void: ”Nikopolas, have you been frightened by such a person?”

”Compared to Yoshude, he is your true enemy. In this regard, you fall far behind Miss Eve. Even alone, she remained here guarding for a century. Half a century after Lord Yoshude departed this world, she continued to steadfastly uphold the promise between them—”

”And you?”

”You are neither as upright as Lady Misu nor as courageous as Miss Eve. You are just a failure.”

”Shut up!”

A low growl emanated from the void.

Atira raised her head, surprised to look in that direction. After a moment, she turned to Fang Hong, momentarily unable to comprehend how he had discovered that the Dragon’s Witch had been watching them all this time.
