Pillar of Yita

”...Actually, I also became interested in the Dragon’s Scripture by chance. This research is an open topic at the Silver Tower. I took it as my means to advance to an Official Scholar. But my research, just like everyone else’s, encountered trouble right from the beginning.”

To Fang Hong, the trouble this young scholar encountered seemed quite simple. The Dragon’s Scripture had been lost for nearly three centuries, and Kalatu only left behind a single spell example, which is the elaborate Dark Giant Dragon’s Sealing Skill. Without the foundational Spell deciphering, it’s completely normal that one wouldn’t understand this spell.

But speaking of this, the young man fearfully glanced at the ’Wanderer’ in the center of the pit square and said, ”Until three years ago, I met that person.”

”At that time, I was wandering in the dire straits of financial hardship and no progress in research. If I couldn’t come up with a solution in a short period, I’d have to leave the academic Holy Land of my dreams and return to the mundane life I had before.”

”It was at this time that he found me. Of course, there were others who saw me then, maybe his subordinates — in short, they told me they could provide materials and documentation that would help my research. But the cost was that one day I would have to help them with something.”

”At the time, I didn’t think much of it. Scholars exchanging labor for Knowledge as compensation is quite common at the Silver Tower and widely encouraged. And the materials and documents they brought afterwards were rare interpretations concerning the Dragon’s Scripture.”

”I was greatly surprised then, because outside of the Silver Tower, it’s rare to hear of any massive and complete research regarding the Dragon’s Scripture. But the manuscript they gave me was clearly the cumulative understanding of many generations, with various insights and notes on the Dragon’s Scripture.”

At this point, he paused.

”Then later, I gradually discovered a very specific commonality among these notes and materials. That is, the people who recorded them all seemed to focus on how to break the Sealing Skill of the Dragon’s Scripture. They seemed to have an unusual interest in unraveling the Dragon’s Scripture.”

Although Fang Hong couldn’t move, upon hearing this, he roughly understood where the manuscripts in the other’s possession came from. Compared to the Silver Tower, the private power and deep accumulation of the Dragon Worshippers are equally vast. Since the era of the Dark Giant Dragon began, they’ve certainly conducted extensive research around the Dragon’s Scripture, so it’s a matter of course that they were able to produce so many manuscripts.

And the Dragon Worshippers’ research most likely doesn’t occur openly, so it’s not surprising that the other hadn’t heard about these documents.

It’s imaginable that the ’Wanderer’ definitely didn’t just find him alone at that time, but the other evidently had some genius traits. He’s probably the only one among these researchers who made progress and figured out the sequence of Kalatu’s Dragon’s Scripture back then.

And it is precisely because of this that the ’Wanderer’ ultimately chose him.

And no one understands better than the researcher himself what kind of research he is engaged in. This young man has clearly realized the trouble he’s gotten into, and several years later, once contacted by the Blood Shark Sky Pirates and taken away by them, he already realized his predicament.

Thus, upon arriving at Idus, he has been seeking a way to transmit information to the outside. And that counterfeit ring was evidently an important piece of evidence from the Dragon Witch incident back then; he probably did everything he could to transfer it to Bunigu’s hands.

But it made little difference, had Bunigu not saved his group, at most they’d just be brought here to toil alongside him.

Fortunately, that Gott of fortune seems to truly exist in the shadows.

Fang Hong lowered his voice and asked, ”So you’ve found the correct reading order of Kalatu’s Dragon’s Scripture Sealing?”

The young man drooped his head, nodded feebly.

Fang Hong wasn’t concerned, and asked again, ”Casting the Dragon’s Spell, it’s supposed to be quite a complex task, right?”

”Naturally.”

”What would happen if you recited it wrong?”

”How could you recite it wrong?” The young man looked at him in bewilderment, thinking it a rather naïve question. Would he make a mistake reciting such an important Spell at that moment? Even a Magic Guided Conductor apprentice wouldn’t make such a basic mistake as getting the spell wrong while reading it.

”What if?”

”This...” The young man was a bit puzzled, but after reflecting, they seemed to only be able to hope for the other to make such a basic error. He thought for a moment, hesitantly responding, ”Probably... it would fail?”

”What would happen if it fails?”

”The Spell would lock, and then automatically evolve into a new order. It’s a characteristic of the Dragon’s Scripture.”

”Okay,” Fang Hong replied, ”I understand.”

The young man looked at him rather puzzled. In his eyes, Fang Hong was firmly secured to the ground by a dark-colored Light Rope, unable to move even a finger, so what he understood was unclear.

Perhaps by silently cursing in the heart for the other to make a basic error? But that idea seems downright ridiculous too.

Yet, Fang Hong remained silent, only glancing at Miss Atira out of the corner of his eye. He had been planning all this from the start, and at this moment, the only concern in his heart was this Elf Miss.
