Pillar of Yita

”I knew it, I knew it...” the girl said with a sob, ”I’ve never really blamed them, because it’s all my fault for having these abominable eyes. How wonderful it would be if I didn’t have these demon eyes.”

”So I really do have biological parents, those people who said I am a demon’s child, that can’t be true... I should have realized earlier, I’m really foolish. Would they still be willing to see me? Can you tell them that I’ve never hated them at all.”

”I only envy those of my peers who have parents. More than once, I’ve thought how nice it would be if I too had parents waiting for me at home...”

”You will.”

The wanderer replied hoarsely.

”Thank you, Mr. Alte,” the girl replied through tears, ”I don’t know how to thank you properly.”

The wanderer silently watched the girl for a while before speaking, ”I don’t have much time left, I need to go. If there’s a chance next time, I’ll come to see you again, and when Yoshude returns, we’ll leave with you together.”

The girl nodded repeatedly.

But Fang Hong and Atira saw that the wanderer didn’t return the way he came, but disappeared into the darkness in another direction without looking back.

Fang Hong listened as the footsteps receded, and silently glanced at the girl in the dark prison.

He wasn’t sure what crime this former ”Dragon’s Witch” had committed to be imprisoned here. But after this conversation, the girl’s mindset seemed significantly lighter, she even wiped away her tears, stood up, and walked back and forth twice in her small world.

She clenched her fist, her face still tear-streaked, but she couldn’t help but smile as she thought of leaving this dark underground, reuniting with Yoshude, making peace with everyone, and recognizing her parents.

As an observer, Fang Hong watched this scene, yet couldn’t help but feel a touch of unease in his heart.

He certainly understood how history is made.

The figure in the dark prison gradually faded away.

Like memories left behind here, when the obsession fades, it finally turns into a soft sigh.

Fang Hong didn’t speak a word, not because he didn’t want to say anything, but because for a moment he didn’t know how to start. He simply lowered his hand and continued walking forward silently—he certainly understood that what he had seen was not the end.

But just a beginning.

He and Atira, along with Lady Daisy in the darkness, and Nini on her back, continued to move forward quietly.

Soon, a fierce argument could be heard ahead.

”You’re lying, sir,” it was Eve’s voice, she was arguing, but there was no hint of anger in it. Or rather, it was a weak attempt to argue with reason: ”But I clearly received a letter from Yoshude, in it, he said he had arrived in Dulun, so how can you say he hasn’t left Golande yet?”

The official, still in that equipment, holding a candle, looked at the girl’s pitiful face and couldn’t help but sigh and shake his head.

Eve thought he was lost for words, and couldn’t help but feel a little smug: ”You have nothing to say now, do you, sir?”

”Okay, if you want to believe that...”

The official sighed, stepped back, intending to leave.

But after taking just one step, he couldn’t bear it, turned back and said:

”Listen to me, young girl, the Praetor is deceiving you. From what I know, no one has gone to inform Mr. Yoshude at all.”

”He just had an audience with His Majesty the King, and I’ve heard that Lord Kalatu really appreciates him. He attended the April garden party and is about to head to Elpaxin, and from there will sail to tour the Scepter Coast area.”

”This is your last chance, if you can’t find reliable people to deliver your letter, it’ll be too late for everything.”

After finishing, the official stepped back.

He cautiously looked around, then lowered his voice and said: ”Don’t tell anyone else, it’s me who told you all this. By Orlin, I’m telling you this for the sake of my own daughter.”

After saying that, he hurriedly turned away and left the place.

And as he passed between Fang Hong and Atira.

Fang Hong noticed the outfit he wore, that crimson robe, seemed somewhat familiar to him.

But as he looked back and gazed at the prison ahead—somehow in such a short time, the girl had changed prisons, and the environment here was much worse than before. Upon hearing the official’s words, the girl seemed hesitant for the first time.

She stood up and sat down again, appearing quite restless.

Instinctively she felt the official was not lying to her, but on one side were her adoptive father and companions, who should she believe? Just as she was anxious and restless, a silent figure once again appeared before her.

Fang Hong only watched silently—

That figure, ’long time no see’, seemed to hunch a bit more.

”Mr. Alte,” Eve looked at the man with some urgency: ”Did Yoshude really receive our letter? I’ve been waiting for so long, but still no news.”

”Lord Praetor, when will my sins be forgiven?”

”No,” she shook her head, a bit neurotically saying: ”I, I have no sins...”

”Don’t worry.”

But the wanderer’s voice was calm, almost unchanged:

”Wait a little longer, it will be very soon.”

Hearing this, Fang Hong finally couldn’t hold back.

He clenched his fist, took a subconscious step forward. But just as he was about to intervene, he heard a ’clank’ noise coming from behind him.

He couldn’t help but instinctively turn his head to look—
