Pillar of Yita

”We are outsiders,” the girl Eve answered softly.

”Outsiders, huh.”

The little girl patted her knees and sat down just like that. She looked at the three of them, blinked her eyes: ”Aren’t you afraid of me?”

”Why should we be afraid of you?” the girl Eve asked.

”My eyes,” the little girl answered crisply, ”I have a pair of golden eyes, everyone hates me. But I know, they don’t hate me, they are afraid of me. But I’m still young, when I grow up, they won’t be afraid of me anymore.”

”Why?” Eve asked softly.

”Because they are afraid of me now because I have no strength yet. When I truly have strength, no one will dare to fear me.” The little girl replied in a childish voice, ”The Great Elder said I’ll be the strongest one, and they won’t dare to drive me out of the village.”

She sighed again, ”But I grow too slowly, the Great Elder said I need to quickly get stronger, so for now, I have to find a place to hide and return once the storm is over.”

”Ah,” she shook her head and sighed, ”I wish I were Yoshude. Everyone likes him because he’s a direct descendant of the Dragon Slayer. But what’s so good about the Dragon Slayer, doesn’t Dragon Blood flow through all our veins?”

Upon hearing this, the girl Eve couldn’t help but smile slightly, she patted her head gently and said softly, ”But the Dragon Blood flowing through the Oathkeeper Clan isn’t meant for oppressing others. Their ancestors were liberators, who alongside the Numelin Elves, saved this world from the Dark Giant Dragon.”

As she spoke, she turned her head and glanced at Fang Hong:

”Mr. Ade, you told me this, thank you for letting me understand what Dragon’s Blood truly is.” She then turned to Atira and said, ”Miss Atira, nice to meet you for the first time.”

Atira and Fang Hong were both a bit surprised.

”You know me?” Atira asked.

Eve nodded first, then shook her head.

Fang Hong looked somewhat surprised at this young Nikopolas, then glanced at the girl Eve. The two’s personalities were completely different; if it weren’t for their similarly resembling faces, Fang Hong would almost think they were two different people.

He never thought Eve would be like this as a child.

And little Nikopolas was clearly a bit uneasy with the three of them ignoring her, having been driven out of the village once again. Though she was somewhat used to it, it was rare to find three people to chat with.

Such a thing had never happened before.

Dragon’s Land is so desolate; among the vast Sand Sea, even travelers are scarce all year round. Especially after her ’Dragon Witch’ reputation spread, fewer and fewer merchants passed through Dragon’s Land.

This caused the village’s situation to worsen, everyone blamed her as the culprit, cursing behind her back was tolerable, even being hit and scolded in person was common. Fortunately, the Great Elder protected her; she could only remain in this place because of him.

In her imagination, the world is so vast, yet it’s all just a vast Sand Sea. Leaving Dragon’s Land thoughtlessly might soon lead to ending up as a pile of bones.

Anyway, she finds a little food here and there, she’s used to it. Those people would never actually starve her to death, and she has her adoptive father, who comes to see her once a year, so she won’t have to worry about an empty stomach then.

She looked at the three of them, unable to resist asking again: ”I’ve said it all, why are none of you afraid of me?”

The girl Eve couldn’t help but chuckle: ”Although you say you have golden eyes, I can’t see them.”

As she spoke, she lifted her head and closed her eyes, smiling gently at the other.

The little girl was startled, a bit embarrassed: ”...Sorry, I, I didn’t know.”

”It’s alright,” the girl Eve replied softly: ”You have eyes feared by others, while I have no eyes, perhaps I’m even luckier than you.”

Of the four, probably only Fang Hong understood the meaning of that sentence, and couldn’t resist feeling a slight stir in his heart.

Little Nikopolas frowned.

Fang Hong finally couldn’t help but ask: ”Eve, what exactly is going on?”

But the girl stood up—with her rising, the swirling sands around them seemed to freeze in time, suspended in mid-air. And the little Dragon Witch seemed like a puppet, frozen in place.

Holding her last posture.

Eve turned back, facing him and Atira, slowly opened her eyes. Under those beautiful lashes, first appeared a golden line that seemed like flowing lava inside, pouring out dazzling light.

Those eyes were none other than Nikopolas’s Dragon’s Golden Eyes.

”I’m sorry,” Eve replied, ”If Mr. Ade keeps going, he’ll enter the last timeline, which you won’t see anything other than blood flowing across the city and fire turning everything to ashes.”

”That person calculated everything, the Great Elder, Idus’s Praetor, they are all just his pawns,” she paused, ”And his true target is me. Specifically, my Dragon’s Golden Eyes.”

”This Phantom Realm isn’t showing the things Dragon’s Golden Eyes let Mr. Ade see, it’s just a little thought of mine in private. Actually, getting here, you should already understand the cause and effect, why continue forward?”
