Pillar of Yita

Fang Hong realized the combat had already failed.

Bloodied, he still gritted his teeth and crawled up from the ground.

The young scholar still hadn’t convinced Atira; he raised his head, looked at the step, and couldn’t help but take two steps back.

If not for his own reasons, the Dragon’s Scripture wouldn’t have been deciphered, and without it, so many things today wouldn’t have happened. He watched all this happen helplessly; though scholars possess vast knowledge, knowledge doesn’t aid in combat.

The Wanderer looked at Fang Hong and raised his right hand.

”You can’t kill him, Mr. Alte,” Eve pleaded tearfully, ”You promised me.”

The Wanderer hesitated for a moment before lowering his hand again.

Fang Hong glanced at Eve, then at the Wanderer. Due to blood loss, he felt a wave of dizziness. But he still had one chance; he still hadn’t summoned the Sword Bearer, transformed into a Fire Giant, which he hadn’t used since the battle with Fenris due to its uniqueness.

However, the Sword Bearer isn’t like the Energy Angel; it lacks the ability to blink and strike, appearing too clumsy in front of the opponent. He must find a way to get the Sword Bearer close to the opponent without being destroyed.

For the moment, he couldn’t think of any method.

Driven by sheer determination, he staggered towards the opponent.

The Wanderer watched silently, but inside he had made a decision: once Fang Hong got close enough, he would act without hesitation—regardless of any covenant with Eve.

”Mr. Ade,” Eve, understanding this, couldn’t help but tearfully say, ”Leave this place, find a way in the future. Yoshude, Yoshude did the same back then; you don’t have to decide victory or defeat here.”

Fang Hong stopped, raising his head somewhat blankly.

He knew he could wait.

But he looked at the tearful girl, at the bewildered Delice, unaware of her danger; at Atira, at the young scholar in a panic.

He looked at the sky ablaze and the hanging starry sky—above the heavens, the brilliant stars seem to follow an ancient vow, displaying one by one—these are the eyes of All Saints, watching everything happening on this earth from ancient times.

Tragedies are played out here.

They transcend time, seeming as if today echoes yesterday, with Destiny unchanged.

”Miss Eve,” Fang Hong softly spoke, ”...what I want to tell you is that you don’t possess the power of darkness, Nikopolas is not your shadow, people in the past wrongly blamed you.”

”I know, I know...” Eve nodded with tears.

As the Array’s light intensified, her body gradually turned transparent.

Can he really wait?

Fang Hong clenched his fists.

He came here to fulfill the dream he pursued. In the previous era, the First Generation free Pioneers created many legends in this world, filled with human glory, the conflict between justice and evil, pure and dreamy colors.

Perhaps it was just a promotional method.

Perhaps others would laugh at him for being too naive.

But he liked it, didn’t he?

What’s wrong with pursuing something you like? He didn’t choose to be a hero, but doing this made him feel peace within.

Just as the Big Cat People said—it’s about one’s heart.

And what is the answer of the heart?

Fang Hong raised his head; in his dark eyes, there seemed to be a bright light.

Can you really do it? As if a voice in the Nether inquired him. But Fang Hong had no answer to this question; all he knew was he still had a slim chance. But how much is this chance worth, is it worthwhile?

He didn’t know—

The Wanderer sensed something, retreating a step.

”You seem to have a deep misunderstanding of me,” for the first time, he finally spoke—the speaker wasn’t himself, but Delice behind him; Delice spoke rhythmically, ”The Strength of Lifegard will eventually return to this world.”

”What I did was merely going with the flow. You may see the harm it caused, but you cannot see another outcome,” he replied. He wasn’t worried about the young man in front, but his only concern was his daughter.

Thus, he slowly spoke, ”If it weren’t for me, the Dark Giant Dragon’s comeback would inevitably cause more damage. Because one is controllable, and the other is uncontrollable.”

”Do you think I resent mortals or my daughter? Neither,” he looked at Eve, ”Do you think I’m a puppet of Andro or Lifegard? No, young man, mortals govern their own Destiny, which isn’t to be criticized.”

”What you’re doing now isn’t unfamiliar to me,” he quietly looked at Fang Hong, ”But my greatest difference from Yoshude is that I don’t dwell on the righteousness of this process. Unlike Garcia, I find no joy in it, only the purpose I pursue.”

”And you, by what right can you judge me?”

Delice emphasized word by word: ”I have experienced everything you have. But you don’t understand my past. Your pitiful sense of justice is not worth flaunting before me.”

”—If not for your courage, I wouldn’t even speak these words to you.”

”But someday, you will come to see.”

”We are of the same kind, young man.”

Fang Hong raised his head to look at the opponent.
