Pillar of Yita

The distance from Lonely Bridge to the platform wasn’t far; a full sprint would only take a few seconds to reach the other side. When Fang Hong arrived there, he glanced down and saw a spire that had broken off right there, connected to the distant platform only by an arm-thick iron chain.

The iron chain extended over the dark abyss, swaying gently as if the platform and Lonely Bridge were also shaking.

An ordinary person would probably feel dizzy by now, but Fang Hong turned around to see the Jiefulite Red Cloak Team apparently preparing to break out from the middle of the Corpse Ghosts and head in their direction. Soon, the Corpse Ghosts appeared not only on the cliffs but also started climbing up from the bridge below, surrounding them.

Knowing time was of the essence, he couldn’t afford to think too much. Seeing that the others had also arrived, he then turned back around to grab the iron chain and started climbing towards the platform. About halfway there, he suddenly raised his right hand and shot out a Rocket Fist, its claw clamping onto the balcony of a building on the platform with a ’clack’.

The balcony was atop a spire, much higher than his current position. Fang Hong saw his Construct glove grab hold; after tightening his grip to ensure it was secure, he activated the magical engine. The micro winch inside the reinforced gloves began to whir as the cable tautened, and he then let go, swinging towards that direction.

The distance of over ten meters flashed by. Internally, he counted down three, two, one and then opened the claw, rolling on the ground when he landed before getting up. Just as he stood, he saw two figures wearing the Blood Oath Alliance’s robes emerge from the nearby ruins.

Considering that the main force was still on the side of Lonely Bridge, the enemy hadn’t anticipated an attack from behind. The people left behind were not there to defend but to meet the others.

The two men, thinking that Fang Hong and his group were reinforcements, waved at him, ”Why did it take you so long? What happened over there?” They, too, had seen the Corpse Ghosts climbing up from below the cliffs to attack the people by the edge. They were about to ask over their team channel when they saw Fang Hong jump down from above.

However, just as they were about to approach, suddenly they halted. Fang Hong saw their communication crystals flicker in their hands and guessed that the Jiefulite Red Cloak Team must have relayed their information.

Indeed, the communication crystals in their hands went dark, then looking up at him again, their eyes filled with confusion and suspicion, and simultaneously they reached for the swords at their waists. Meanwhile, Fang Hong clicked his reinforced gloves back and, with a forward gesture, had numerous Magic Buoys on his Omnimeter light up, pointing toward the two men.

Being Combat Artisans was a rare profession, and they didn’t immediately understand his actions, merely drawing their swords instinctively to respond. What they hadn’t expected was that the attack didn’t come from his direction. It originated from above and behind Fang Hong, where two bright golden lines stretched out of the darkness.

They looked up only to see two elegantly armored female-style Constructs glide down from above, one on each side of the iron chain. Their blade-shaped feet generated long sparks where they met the chain, and with the sparks flying, the Constructs leapt into the air, using Fang Hong’s position as a pivot to vault over ten meters in a moment, upside down as they landed directly above the two men.

The two men looked up together. Given the personnel restrictions, no one sent by the Blood Oath Alliance to this site was below level fifteen, and these two were no exception. Unfortunately for them, the two Energy Angels controlled by Fang Hong were comparable in strength to level fifteen Invokers, especially in a surprise attack.

They barely managed to respond when the two Energy Angels had already vaulted upside down over their heads, their blade-shaped feet tracing a perfect circle in mid-air before landing smoothly behind them.

Among them, only one reacted quickly, turning and lifting his sword to block just in time to parry the first strike from the Energy Angel.

But in the rush, he already lost his balance, his Block Value instantly halved. The remaining strength just barely allowed him to awkwardly block two more strikes. However, the Construct controlled by Fang Hong was faster with each hit, stepping quickly forward on the third strike to thrust through his defense, piercing his heart.

The man opened his mouth wide as he fell to the ground, his last vision filled with the sight of his companion’s corpse—the companion had been impaled through the heart from behind by the other Energy Angel at the first moment.

He gurgled as if questioning the master of this place, the Giant Dragon Toragotos—wasn’t it said that only those below level fifteen could enter this accursed place?

After the Energy Angels, the others also arrived one by one on the platform, but Silver Weslan’s people glanced at the two bodies lying on the platform, then at the solemnly standing Energy Angels, and couldn’t help but cast a glance at Fang Hong to the side.

Silver Weslan wasn’t without its talented Combat Artisans. The younger generation was numerous, and those capable of Dual Control of Walkers were not unheard of, but effectively using them in real combat was something most had only heard of, never seen.

Yet these individuals were likely the core of Silver Weslan’s future brigade, with their Princess as one of their true companions in the Second World.

Moreover, as Variants, the Energy Angels required a higher Calculative Power than the Walkers, and the Guild typically didn’t train Combat Artisans with Variants during the newbie phase. Not to mention, they all seemed to remember that he had just acquired these two Energy Angels from them, didn’t they?
