Berserk God of War

Chapter 405: Chapter 405 Ineligible if Not Master Lei

Dark Dragon Mountain has always held itself above the fray, not concerning itself with the internal affairs of the Holy Dragon.

They are too lazy to attend any grand assemblies, and equally indifferent to who becomes the Palace Master or Vice Palace Master, as they would never assume those positions themselves.

They come when they wish and stay away when they don’t, always maintaining neutrality.

As for Drunk Dragon Mountain, there’s no need to even mention them. It used to be fine, but ever since Tan Yue became the Institute Master, all the elders had run off, leaving behind only a few instructors who loafed around, and nobody bothered to invite them to the assembly.

Golden Dragon Mountain was situated at the most distinguished position, with two chairs for the Institute Master and the Vice Master respectively.

And the Institute Master of Golden Dragon Mountain, who was also the Palace Master of the entire Holy Dragon Palace, Shen Qingye, was currently absent, and Qin Heng lay in a coma with severe injuries, so naturally, no one took those seats.

However, at this moment, standing behind the two chairs were more than twenty elders, all dressed in Golden Dragon Mountain’s attire.

Last of all, there was only Fire Dragon Mountain left.

Just then, someone announced loudly, ”The Fire Dragon Mountain Master has arrived...”

As these words were spoken, everyone in the main hall immediately turned to look.

Huo Yanmei was seen sitting in a chair with wheels, pushed into the main hall by Liu Shan, who had an ashen face.

Huo Yanmei, too, bore a sickly appearance.

Liu Shan was, of course, being coerced and had no choice in being there, while Huo Yanmei deliberately feigned an appearance of being badly wounded and not yet recovered.

As for Huo Yanmei, Lei Hongteng hurried over to greet her like a host, offering all sorts of pleasantries, until at last, Huo Yanmei took her place among the Fire Dragon Mountain representatives, still looking frail and disinclined to speak.

After Huo Yanmei was seated, Lei Hongteng stood up. He was finally ready to begin...

”Now that everyone is present, and all who were expected have arrived, I, Lei Hongteng, have an important matter to discuss,” he said.

”Palace Master Shen and Master Tan, out of spite, recklessly entered a terrifying forbidden battleground. Vice Palace Master Qin, seriously wounded by Xingluo Palace, is feared to be beyond recovery. But our Long Night Saint Dragon Palace cannot be left without a leader for even a day; we must elect a new Vice Palace Master.”

”What do you all think, who is the most suitable?”

Lei Hongteng got straight to the point, not beating around the bush.

His gaze slowly swept over everyone present, especially focusing on the three Institute Masters in attendance.

At this time, the Cloud Dragon Mountain Master hesitated, then spoke softly, ”Perhaps we should first confirm Vice Palace Master Qin’s status before we proceed?”

At these words, a flash of cold light appeared in the eyes of Lei Hongteng and Lei Zizhen.

They knew that the Cloud Dragon Mountain Master had yet to declare his position, so they needed Qin Heng to come into the hall. They intended to anger him to death on the spot, as a spectacle for the Cloud Dragon Mountain Master and all the elders who had not yet taken a stance.

Thump, thump, thump...

Suddenly, a series of heavy footsteps sounded, followed by the voice of Lei Hongzha, Vice Institute Master of Thunder Dragon Mountain, coming from outside.

”Master Yun, concerned about Vice Palace Master Qin’s situation? Regrettably, he is already dead,” he announced.

As he spoke, Lei Hongzha strode into the grand assembly hall, looking vibrant and spirited.

Bang!

Everyone in the hall had their eyes wide open, then a variety of expressions emerged.

Some couldn’t believe it, some were ecstatic, and some were shocked and pale...

Huo Yanmei, feigning weakness, had a flash of darkness in her expression, but it quickly dissolved, her mood growing tense and restless.

Qin Heng was dead?

Could it be that Sikong Jing had ultimately failed?

And behind her, Liu Shan was overjoyed.

Though he was currently being oppressed and controlled by Huo Yanmei, now that Qin Heng was dead, a significant opportunity might arise for him.

When the time came, he could find a way to secretly betray her to Lei Hongteng and take down Huo Yanmei, that old vile woman.

At the same moment, Lei Hongteng and Lei Zizhen also widened their eyes, clearly ecstatic.

But immediately after, Lei Hongteng’s expression turned into one of immense sadness. He said woefully, ”Vice Palace Master Qin, could it be that he has really passed away? How could this happen, it’s too unfair!”

After speaking, he frantically looked toward Lei Hongzha, who naturally confirmed it a hundred percent.

Upon confirmation, Lei Hongteng, struggling to hold back laughter, said, ”Now there’s no need for further words. Let’s hurry and pay homage to Vice Palace Master Qin.”

Since Qin Heng had died at a crucial moment, he naturally pretended to be a good person.

With these words settled, everyone in the main hall got up and strode toward the direction of the Qin family.

Yet, people had already started to approach Lei Hongteng, displaying servile smiles.

Now that Qin Heng was dead, the position of Vice Palace Master belonged to none other than Lei Hongteng.

Not long after, led by Lei Hongteng, everyone arrived at the Qin family’s home, where they were greeted by Qin Heng’s die-hard loyalists, led by Qin Lao, all clad in white and staring at Lei Hongteng and the others.

Each one of them appeared ready to die fighting.

Staring fiercely at Lei Hongteng, Qin Lao bellowed madly, ”Lei Hongteng, it was you who killed my father...”

No sooner had his words fallen than Lei Hongteng, squinting his eyes, commanded, ”Someone come, Qin Lao has been hit too hard, he’s already speaking nonsense, let him calm down at once...”

As soon as he spoke, an elder charged towards Qin Lao.

”How dare you...”

A group of Qin Heng’s die-hard elder loyalists went crazy in their efforts to protect Qin Lao, but Lei Hongteng still spoke with a detached tone, ”It seems that the death of Vice Palace Master Qin has indeed hit all of you very hard, you all need to calm down.”

In an instant, elders who had sided with Lei Hongteng burst forth, knocking down everyone including Qin Lao to the ground!

The difference in numbers was simply too great. Now, half of Holy Dragon Palace was Lei Hongteng’s.

The Neutral Parties, who had not yet declared their stance, dared not make a move and could only watch helplessly as Qin Lao and the others were thoroughly suppressed.

With Qin Heng dead, the Neutrals were nothing more than a directionless rabble.

At the same time, the face of Cloud Dragon Mountain Master also flashed with a hint of panic.

He had never expected that Lei Hongteng’s influence had grown this large unnoticed. It seemed he too had to take a stand.

And just as everyone had just stepped onto the Qin family’s premises...

Suddenly, Lei Zizhen stopped and said, ”Dad, I think it’s necessary at this time to determine the new Vice Palace Master of Holy Dragon Palace.”

With these words, Qin Lao and the others who were pressed down on the ground screamed incessantly and cursed non-stop.

The neutral elders’ eyes flashed with insight, thinking that to establish the position of Vice Palace Master at the Qin family’s home was just too audacious.

But no matter what, no one dared to speak out now.

”Nonsense, Vice Palace Master Qin’s body isn’t even cold yet, how can we talk about such things now?” Lei Hongteng again deliberately put on a very angry demeanor, harshly rebuking Lei Zizhen.

After all, Palace Master Shen Qingye might return at any moment, so even if Lei Hongteng was audacious, he had to pretend...

”Dad, it’s precisely because Vice Palace Master Qin’s body isn’t cold that we need to establish the new Vice Palace Master,” Lei Zizhen insisted with tears in his eyes, speaking words that stirred one’s blood, yet a cold smile curled the corners of his mouth.

They had already agreed on their plan on the way there, to ascend to the position of Vice Palace Master right in Qin Heng’s home.

Then, Lei Hongteng assumed a contemplative look.

Next, many elders who had sided with Lei Hongteng began to support Lei Zizhen’s proposal. They felt that a new Vice Palace Master should be established. In the end, Lei Hongteng ”reluctantly” agreed.

”Then, who do you all think would be suitable for the position of Vice Palace Master?” Lei Hongteng asked.

The Institute Master of Wind Dragon Mountain, Lei Hongteng’s man, was the first to jump out and say, ”Of course, it has to be none other than Master Lei.”
