Berserk God of War

69: Chapter 069: Using Oneself as Bait, Flowing Cloud Flying Squirrel 69: Chapter 069: Using Oneself as Bait, Flowing Cloud Flying Squirrel Su Yue Immortal entered the town in search of people to recruit, at least two hundred individuals at the Dark Realm Third Level.

Then, she learned that due to a feud between the two major trading houses, the mountain had been sealed off, although it was now unsealed, many adventurers had left Ru Yun Town, and it would probably take a day or two before they returned.

“If the two trading houses sealed the mountain, then I’ll go and ask them for help.”

After saying this, Su Yue Immortal asked a passerby for directions and arrived at the entrance of the Luoshui Jade Line’s separate courtyard.

Instantly, she stopped in her tracks; from inside the courtyard drifted an intensely thick scent of blood.

Sikong Jing’s image flashed through her mind, and then she swiftly entered over the outer wall.

Corpses lay everywhere upon entering, the scene was terrifyingly gruesome, and even Su Yue Immortal, who had seen many killings, couldn’t help but gasp in chill horror.

It was too savage, and judging from the bodies, the killings were done with clean and decisive efficiency.

Clearly, this was the work of a fearful individual accustomed to slaughter.

Sikong Jing’s image when he had just entered the mountain flashed again in her mind; he had just killed so many, yet his expression was utterly unchanged…

He was definitely a vicious and evil being.

“Who are you?” Suddenly, a voice tinged with panic rang out; it was Luo Ning.

She had just run into her room to wash her face, trying to calm herself down, but upon coming out, she saw this unfamiliar woman dressed in black.

Her heart raced fearfully, unsure if this woman was from the Thunder Wing Trading House.

“Just passing by.

Are you a survivor?” Su Yue Immortal asked.

Upon hearing this, Luo Ning let out a sigh of relief but still maintained a watchful look in her eyes, casually replying, “Yes.”

Strictly speaking, she indeed was a survivor; had Sikong Jing been a fraction less heartless, she probably would have been dead as well.

Su Yue Immortal looked at Luo Ning, whose face was pale and colorless, and mused, “I had no intention of meddling, having intended to ask your trading house for some manpower, but it seems you have none left.”

After speaking, Su Yue Immortal vanished onto the wall, then paused to add, “If they are after you, you’d better leave Ru Yun Town as quickly as possible.

That slaughterer might come back.”

Leaving behind her indifferent voice echoing, Su Yue Immortal disappeared from sight.

Luo Ning was confused but secretly thought, “This woman is cold and strong, but seems to have a not-so-bad heart.”

Looking at the corpses strewn across the ground, Luo Ning was at a loss for what to do.

However, she had already sent a pigeon to her father, and the Luoshui Jade Line would soon send people.

But no matter what, there was one tenet: do not betray Sikong Jing.

Back on her side, Su Yue Immortal returned to the front of Ru Yun Mountain, sighed, and said, “Forget it, I’ll try going in again.”

Having said this, she flashed into the mountain.

…

After a full day and night, Sikong Jing finally reached the depths of Ru Yun Mountain, the territory of the Flowing Cloud Flying Squirrel.

“There are traces of someone having been here, and they’re fresh.”

“This is troublesome now, the Flowing Cloud Flying Squirrel must have been startled.”

As soon as he arrived, Ah Hu made the judgment, noting the recent tracks left by people in the surrounding jungle.

“They say the Flowing Cloud Flying Squirrel is extremely cunning, and once it gets spooked, it won’t come out again for a month,” Old Zhang also commented.

The Flowing Cloud Flying Squirrel was indeed a well-known demon beast around Yunye City.

The main reason was that every part of it was valuable, its inner core could be used to heal most internal injuries, its fur was favored by many noblewomen, and its flesh contained powerful energy that could enhance one’s strength.

Sikong Jing had previously inquired with Doctor Sun about what could directly heal his father-in-law and obtained this answer.

But the Flowing Cloud Flying Squirrel was too cunning, and even the most skilled hunters, even those at the Earth Realm or even the Heaven Realm, could not guarantee its capture, with only the rarest specimens making it to the market.

Sikong Jing had also seen an introduction to the Flowing Cloud Flying Squirrel in the Great Shang Imperial Library and had some understanding of its attributes.

“It’s been more than a month.

I once heard that the previous Lord of Yunzhou, in order to win over the favor of a beauty, personally led a team to chase after the Flowing Cloud Flying Squirrel in Ru Yun Mountain, only to fail to capture it right from the start.”

Thinking of a story, Ah Hu introduced, “After that, the scared Flowing Cloud Flying Squirrel didn’t show up for an entire year, leading to the former Lord of Yunzhou returning home in disappointment.”

As they mentioned this, both looked toward Sikong Jing.

Old Zhang proposed, “Brother Sikong, how about we go deeper and look for other Flowing Cloud Flying Squirrels?”

Sikong Jing’s eyes sparkled.

Continuing deeper wasn’t impossible, but he feared he wouldn’t make it back in time for Su Yuexi’s selection in Yunye City.

But a scared Flowing Cloud Flying Squirrel was a bit troublesome.

All of a sudden, Sikong Jing lifted his head and said, “There’s no need to go deeper.

We’ll try here for two days, and if we still can’t find one, we’ll head back.”

The two exchanged glances, suspecting they were engaging in a futile effort.

“Now, follow me.” Finishing his sentence, Sikong Jing dashed into the jungle.

He quickly arrived at a huge rock several dozens of yards high.

Without hesitation, Sikong Jing leaped up and landed on top of the huge rock before saying, “I’m going to enter a cultivation state now.

You two just guard the surroundings for me, and pretend like we’re not here for the Flowing Cloud Flying Squirrel.”

“What?”

The two were stunned, not understanding, and Old Zhang instinctively asked, “Do we need to hide?”

“No need, just act natural.”

“Right, occasionally let your True Qi flash and kill any demon beasts that come too close.”

Following Sikong Jing’s words, they understood.

They were to act like the most loyal guards, but what good would that do?

Such a conspicuous rock, how could a Flowing Cloud Flying Squirrel possibly appear here?

All hunters would try to hide when facing a Flowing Cloud Flying Squirrel, but Sikong Jing was doing the exact opposite.

Isn’t that a bit too naive?

Before they could ask for the reason, Sikong Jing had already seated himself cross-legged on the rock and began his breathing exercises.

In his heart, though, he secretly thought, “Flowing Cloud Flying Squirrel, will you want to eat me like the Qian Yubao?”

Correct, what Sikong Jing wanted to do now was to use himself as bait, attract the Flowing Cloud Flying Squirrel with the Blood of Ten Thousand Beasts.

He was the Master of Ten Thousand Beasts, yet he was also just a small cub, seen as a super nourishing delicacy in the eyes of many demon beasts.

As the Flowing Cloud Flying Squirrel was a Peak Human Realm demon beast, would it resist the temptation to attack him, a mere Fourth Level Dark Realm cub with only two Human Realm First Level small guards?

With anticipation in his heart, Sikong Jing purposefully released his aura and entered a state of cultivation.

Time slowly passed, and before you know it, another day and night had gone by.

The surroundings were very quiet.

Ordinary demon beasts didn’t dare to enter the territory of the Flowing Cloud Flying Squirrel, so the three of them were not disturbed at all.

However, Old Zhang and Ah Hu were becoming increasingly confused.

What use was there in doing this?

“It’s here, stay alert.”

Suddenly, Sikong Jing’s voice rang out loudly, jolting the two men to full alert, wondering what could have arrived.

It couldn’t be the Flowing Cloud Flying Squirrel, could it?

But the next instant, a squeaking sound erupted.

A snow-white rodent, the size of a forearm with short wings connecting its body, assaulted them by swooping close to the huge rock at a speed even faster than the Qian Yubao, flashing past the eyes of Ah Hu and the others in the blink of an eye.

“Brother Sikong!” The faces of the two men changed dramatically as they instinctively turned around.

Then the scene before them made their eyes bulge.

They saw Sikong Jing holding the Flowing Cloud Flying Squirrel with one hand, and he said in a low chuckle, “Flowing Cloud Flying Squirrel, you really are patient, making me wait a whole day.”
