Berserk God of War

53: Chapter 053: My Trump Card is Myself 53: Chapter 053: My Trump Card is Myself Su Xuefeng, seeing Sikong Jing spacing out, thought he had guessed correctly.

“If I’m not wrong, Grandpa, you still have treasures on hand, don’t you?”

“And you obtained these treasures while keeping them hidden from General Chou Ye, right?”

“I was thinking, Grandpa, if General Chou Ye found out about this, it would certainly be troublesome.

How about I keep them safe for you instead?

That way, even if Chou Ye comes looking, he won’t find any evidence.”

Having finished speaking, Su Xuefeng looked at Sikong Jing triumphantly, with an ‘I’ve got you all figured out’ expression.

Using Chou Ye to threaten—how scary do you find that?

And Sikong Jing, upon hearing this, also realized that this old man had captured Yue Xi and his in-laws precisely because he thought Sikong Jing had treasures he wanted to take for himself.

Watching Sikong Jing’s face turn dark and gloomy, Su Xuefeng became even more smug, convinced that his guess was spot on.

Narrowing his eyes, Su Xuefeng continued to threaten, “I know you still have a trump card to fight me with, but don’t use it, or else I can’t guarantee the safety of my dear granddaughter.”

With cold eyes, Sikong Jing likewise obediently shelved his killing intent, and his expression gradually calmed down.

He had faced countless large and small battles before, often having to negotiate with enemy experts and ministers.

Today’s situation was but a trifle to him.

As long as Su Yuexi was safe, Sikong Jing could remain unruffled.

Therefore, he countered, “How would you know that I still have a trump card?”

Before Su Xuefeng could speak, Su Zhengtao proudly interjected, “Do you really think we are fools?

Would you dare to kill Little Shan without having a card up your sleeve targeted at us?

Hmph, we’ve just been biding our time.”

“Now hand over your trump card and all the treasures, or else don’t blame me for being merciless with my blade.”

Su Zhengtao was boiling with anger, filled with hatred.

At this moment, Mei Xiaofang and Su Yuexi, tied to the pillar, also understood and agreed that what Su Xuefeng and his son said was right; Sikong Jing had claimed that no one would die during the birthday feast, which meant he must have had a trump card.

What should they do now?

Handing over the trump card might cause Su Xuefeng and his son to renege, leaving them without any power to threaten them.

“Hand it over, and I guarantee no harm will come to you, and Yue Xi will compete in the arena seven days from now,” Su Xuefeng said with an intense gaze.

Sikong Jing stared steadily at the two, slowly taking out three freshly inscribed pieces of Green Jade Paper from his bosom…

Instantly, Su Xuefeng’s eyes bulged with greed.

He bellowed furiously, “How dare you!

You talk about making peace with me, yet you only gave me two inferior Green Jade Stone Plates.”

Inside, Su Xuefeng was both excited and displeased.

Sikong Jing had given Green Jade Stone Plates as a birthday gift, yet had withheld the superior Green Jade Papers.

Outrageous.

Fortunately, he was divinely brilliant, guessing everything exactly right.

At that moment, Sikong Jing did not answer but instead held the Green Jade Papers and stepped forward.

However, at that time, Su Zhengtao’s great saber pressed toward Su Yuexi, shouting again, “Criminal, stand there and don’t move; place the Green Jade Papers on the ground, and then bring out your trump card.”

They dared not let Sikong Jing come closer; they had to clear out his trump card first.

Sikong Jing stopped in his tracks, placing the Green Jade Paper on the ground as instructed, yet he still stood motionless.

“Hurry up and put down the trump card…

No, strip off all your clothes,” Su Zhengtao barked continuously, his face ferocious.

He did not trust Sikong Jing and needed him to strip bare to ensure he had nothing on him to pose a threat.

It was at that moment that Sikong Jing’s gaze suddenly shifted toward Su Zhenglong lying on the ground; his expression changed slightly, then he abruptly looked up and said deliberately and slowly, “My trump card is… myself!”

The moment his voice fell, his figure flashed out mysteriously…

Snap!

He actually slapped Su Zhengtao across the face.

Even though Su Zhengtao was holding Su Yuexi hostage, in Sikong Jing’s eyes, there were many flaws.

He had already rescued hostages before, and compared to those, this was a hundred, even a thousand times less difficult.

After striking out, Sikong Jing immediately tore open the ropes on Su Yuexi’s body and embraced her in his arms.

All movements were completed in the blink of an eye.

At that moment, Su Xuefeng’s eyes bulged as he raged, “Criminal, do you not care about your mother-in-law’s life?”

Shocked, Su Xuefeng couldn’t believe that Sikong Jing was still able to rescue someone.

Luckily, he had been vigilant all along.

He still held a hostage, and, being a high-level practitioner of the Human Realm, he was convinced that the criminal couldn’t possibly save someone across two Great Realms.

Just as Su Xuefeng was about to furiously strike Mei Xiaomei, Sikong Jing’s voice rang out again, “Father-in-law, you may move now.”

Hum!

Su Zhenglong suddenly opened his eyes, and a ferocious burst of True Qi exploded from his body, kicking out violently at Su Xuefeng.

Taken by surprise, Su Xuefeng let out a cry as he was sent flying.

The next instant, Su Zhenglong quickly untied Mei Xiaofang’s ropes and held her in his arms, saying with an angry look, “Father, it seems you’ve written me off as dead once again?”

“Old, Master…” Mei Xiaofang stared at Su Zhenglong, unbelieving.

“Daddy!” Su Yuexi was also surprised and excited.

On the other side, Su Xuefeng was completely stunned, and Su Zhengtao was dumbfounded as well.

What was happening?

Wasn’t it said that Su Zhenglong was close to death?

Why did he seem even more vigorous than before, his spirit multiplied a hundredfold?

“Su Zhenglong, weren’t you dying?”

“Damn it, did you deliberately have Doctor Sun’s attendant talking nonsense?

Are you playing me?”

Su Xuefeng’s chest was about to burst with anger; the main reason for this operation was the absence of the great threat that was Su Zhenglong.

However, Su Zhenglong furrowed his brow, unclear about the nonsense Su Xuefeng was spouting, and simply said, “Thanks to you, I don’t know why, but I’ve come back to life—perhaps it was my mother’s spirit in heaven blessing me.”

“Now, get out of here…”

His voice rose to the heavens, immensely powerful, his True Qi more solid and terrifying than ever before.

It was as if Su Zhenglong had returned to his former glory as a proud young talent.

Grinding his teeth, Su Xuefeng inadvertently shifted his gaze to the three Green Jade Papers on the ground…

but before he could act, Sikong Jing, right in front of him, picked up the Green Jade Papers again.

“Su Xuefeng, why not try your luck against us?” Sikong Jing teased, shaking the Green Jade Paper in his hand.

Unwilling to risk his life, especially without having seen Sikong Jing’s full capabilities, Su Xuefeng dared not take the chance.

Furthermore, his confidence vanished against the inexplicably revitalized Su Zhenglong, who seemed to have had a turn for the better.

In the end, all Su Xuefeng could do was threaten bitterly, “Very well, very well, you’re cruel…”

“Before Su Yuexi participates in the Yunye City selection, if I don’t receive a piece of Green Jade Paper, I will surely report your secret hoarding of the Fierce Beast Bandits’ treasure to General Chou Ye.”

“Zhengtao, let’s go!”

And so, Su Xuefeng came with overwhelming momentum, only to leave dejectedly.

Yet he was not ready to complain to General Chou Ye, for he was determined to obtain the Green Jade Paper in Sikong Jing’s hands and would not give up unless absolutely necessary.

The courtyard once again returned to calm.

At this moment, Su Yuexi broke free from Sikong Jing’s embrace and threw herself at Su Zhenglong, “Daddy, are you really all right?”
