The inertia of civilizationThe subsequent trend of NVIDIA’s stock price completely matched Lin Yuan’s predictions.

After falling from over $140 to a low of around $110, NVIDIA began a strong recovery.

For a massive company with a market capitalization of about 3 trillion US dollars, this back-and-forth fluctuation represented over 500 billion US dollars in wealth.

Such volatility frequently occurs in the stock market, and many people’s wealth shrinks amidst these fluctuations.

The stock market is like a violently shaking sieve; most people are sifted out through its mesh.

Lin Yuan, relying on this fluctuation in NVIDIA’s stock, first shorted and then went long, accumulating a vast amount of wealth in one go.

If someone were to ask him the secret to stock trading, he thought he would definitely say, ”As Sun Tzu’s Art of War states, ’Know yourself and know your enemy, and you will never be defeated.’”

In plain language, it means: I have more information than you.

In this NVIDIA incident, there were also exciting developments beyond the stock price.

Before this, AI tech stocks, represented by NVIDIA, had a total market capitalization exceeding the annual GDP of most countries on Earth. These super-sized tech companies were previously seen as symbols of technological advancement.

Although for people like Lin Yuan, who understood the truth, they knew how much bubble was involved. But the world was unaware.

After this, although NVIDIA’s stock price recovered, an unavoidable concept had entered people’s minds—these giants were not invulnerable.

When NVIDIA’s stock price dropped 17 points in a single day, many people cheered overnight, lamenting the collapse of the Eagleland AI empire.

And when NVIDIA’s stock rose back up a few days later, many people praised it enthusiastically, even mocking those who had celebrated earlier, saying, ”Your grandpa is still your grandpa.”

People always like to revel in appearances. But Lin Yuan had long foreseen the development of things.

As long as NVIDIA’s GPU computing cards remain unmatched globally, it cannot truly fall. As long as AI training still relies heavily on massive computing power, GPU computing cards will forever be irreplaceable.

Even if DS Company’s model relies much less on computing power, this improvement is not exponential.

A 10% improvement compared to a 100% improvement can only be considered a significant advancement in technological application, not a scientific breakthrough.

When the cost becomes only 10%, the application scope of AI will also expand. Then the base of AI applications will expand, which in turn will lead to even greater demand for GPU computing cards.

Just as the upgrade of textile technology led to the closure of numerous manual textile workshops in ancient times, the reduction in fabric costs stimulated an expansion in demand, and the number of people currently involved in the entire textile and apparel industry chain is far greater than in ancient times.

Therefore, Lin Yuan quickly realized that NVIDIA is currently irreplaceable. To truly bring NVIDIA down, one would have to create a GPU computing card that surpasses it.

But some people don’t understand.

They celebrate the downfall of their opponent as soon as NVIDIA faces trouble, and then become disheartened as soon as their opponent recovers.

Lin Yuan felt that these people should read ”On Protracted War.”

Because they need to recognize the core contradiction, rather than dwelling on superficial issues.

Although Eagleland has a plethora of problems in various fields, it still possesses a deep foundation in high-tech areas.

Take GPU computing cards as an example.

From chip design tools to chip materials, and then to lithography machines, as well as the concentration of relevant talent. From the perspective of the entire semiconductor industry chain, Eagleland still holds a leading position.

DS Company’s large language model’s cost advantage is merely a lead in one link of the entire semiconductor industry chain; of course, such a breakthrough is very important, because the collapse of a thousand-mile dike always begins with the first ant hole.

However, a breakthrough at a single point cannot completely reverse the disadvantage of the entire industry chain.

The plot people love most is a hero saving the world, just as they now hope the DS Company large language model will bring down Eagleland’s entire semiconductor industry chain.

But they forgot that those who truly save the world have always been themselves.

It is every one of them, ordinary people, being more excellent than every ordinary person on the other side, that leads to the overall collective advantage.

For example, are the parents of those one hundred and something people at DS Company all outstanding individuals in various fields?

Lin Yuan, out of curiosity, actually checked. The facts also aligned with his prediction.

Even the founder of DS Company is from a rural area.

As for the engineers, most of them also come from ordinary families.

So, what does this indicate? It indicates that the extraordinary often emerges from the ordinary.

If we push our perspective back in time, most of the people who built the foundation of this nation came from ordinary backgrounds.

Of course, some people always tend to focus on the occasional few who come from scholarly families. But if you hold a handful of beans and scatter them, the beans will always spread everywhere.

If you always look at problems with a filter, you will always get the answer you imagine.

”Look, so-and-so’s background is extraordinary...”

If personal dissatisfaction with reality is mixed into this confused perception, it will become even more chaotic.

Let’s shift our perspective to those who truly change our current lives and change the world, and we will find that, at this point, everything is fair.

Driving the development of human society has never been the exclusive right of a few. The most beautiful aspect of humanity is that all extraordinary things are born from the ordinary.

If this point were wrong, the world would have long since decayed.

Why do we say that every ordinary person is the true hero who saves the world? Firstly, their will forms a collective will; secondly, although they are ordinary, their descendants have a probability of being extraordinary.

It is precisely because of that little bit of unyielding determination in the hearts of every ordinary person that they are willing to invest in their children’s education.

Even the most education-neglecting parents would absolutely not accept their child having no access to books.

No matter how much academic degrees and diplomas depreciate, people’s obsession with them remains unchanged in their hearts. Because thousands of years of history have proven everything—almost all changes have come from scholars. Regardless of whether these changes are positive or negative, whenever a great historical tide arrives, scholars act like filters, always intercepting key changes in advance and reacting accordingly.

Reading is as ordinary to us as eating, sleeping, or water and air; we take it for granted, but this is not the case across the entire world.

This vast difference in Concept is the inertia of a civilization.

And the most powerful aspect of an ancient civilization lies in its summarization of excellent historical experiences, and the formation of civilizational inertia based on this.

Through these inertias, the overall governance costs will be greatly reduced.

With lower overall governance costs, it is possible to surpass opponents in various scientific research problems over time.

Therefore, Lin Yuan finally realized that the biggest difference between himself and Musk is due to their different origins.

Due to the difference in the soil beneath his feet, Lin Yuan firmly believes that his achievements in this life will ultimately surpass Musk.
