Algorithm system

Looking for partners5Lin Yuan felt that his decision not to join the system back then was incredibly correct.

It wasn’t that he was rebellious; it was just that he was used to being free and unfettered. In that system, everything had to follow rules and regulations.

What bothered him most was that he couldn’t refute this way of doing things. Because from a rational perspective, he also believed that there must be a set of rules and regulations.

However, any set of rules and regulations used to manage a large group of people, any rules and regulations of a large organization, would inevitably be nested and full of restrictions.

“If only an AI model could manage it,” Lin Yuan could only complain helplessly. The most painful thing in the world is when something makes you very uncomfortable, but your rationality tells you that it objectively exists.

“What are you muttering about? It’s just filling out an application form. Why so many complaints? And I’m the one filling it out,” Zhang Yan rolled her eyes at him.

“Have you ever heard of seeing the big picture from the small? It’s just buying a few cloud graphics cards, and you don’t even have to pay for them, yet it’s such a big fuss with layers of approval.”

“You are a key protected person now. All your interactions with the outside world need to be recorded.”

“Why? So if I kick the bucket one day, it’ll be easier for you to trace back?”

“Bah, bah, bah, what nonsense are you saying?”

Fortunately, the approval came back quickly, and there were clearly people at the top who understood this area, because the reply given was: requests for purchasing cloud resources of this type no longer need to be submitted for approval in the future, only recorded.

Lin Yuan finally got four H100s deployed in the cloud, and the DS-LLM 67B model finally started running.

He imported a dataset of common dialogue styles from Xianxia novels into the model, based on the weights of a general pre-trained model.

This dataset was collected by Lin Yuan using his computing power system, costing him quite a bit of computing power. He used his computing power system to scan through Xianxia novels from the past two decades and meticulously analyzed the “Daoist friend this, Daoist friend that” dialogue styles, finally forming this dataset.

As lines of logs were printed in the black command-line window, the training began.

When Zhang Yan came in with a plate of fruit, Lin Yuan was leaning back in his chair, resting with his eyes closed.

Soon after, a few cool, soft fingers floated onto his temples.

“Why are your hands so cold?”

“I just washed the fruit. Freshly arrived jade melon, want some?”

“Later.”

“The small farm specially sent it. Not much was grown today. If you don’t eat it soon, it’ll be gone.”

“What’s the difference between the small farm’s and what’s on the market?”

“Less residue, of course.”

“Then I’m afraid I won’t be used to it. My body is immune to all poisons, so I’d rather eat something with more residue.”

“What are you fussing about? What are you doing now?” Zhang Yan asked, pointing at the laptop screen.

“I’m feeding data to the AI model. AI models are like children; you have to teach them, and then they’ll know how to answer.”

Zhang Yan muttered, “Xia Ye just called me.”

“Huh?” Lin Yuan’s eyes snapped open. “What did she say?”

“Look at you. Heh, men…”

“What’s wrong with you now?” Lin Yuan looked utterly confused.

“Excited to hear about your first love? As expected, the first time is always the most unforgettable. You must be feeling wronged to be with me.” Zhang Yan looked out the window with a dismissive expression, deliberately putting on a sad face.

“Junior Sister, your Senior Brother’s mind is completely filled with AI models right now. My memory is full, and I can’t switch to matters of love, okay? I haven’t seen Xia Ye in a long time; I’m just concerned about her. Look at my current situation; I’m afraid she’ll be implicated by me.”

“Say you love me.”

“What the heck?” One second she’s arguing with him, the next she wants him to say he loves her. Lin Yuan’s CPU was really about to explode.

“Say you love me.”

“I love you. Is that enough?” Lin Yuan just wanted to quickly appease this ancestor.

“You said it too fast. It clearly wasn’t heartfelt.”

Lin Yuan could only put on a loving expression, building up his emotions for a moment before slowly speaking, “I… love… you.”

“Too slow, no sincerity!”

“Damn it, how about we just do it for real? I’ll prove it with action.”

“Physical intimacy doesn’t equal emotional intimacy.”

Lin Yuan was completely stumped now. “How about you just shoot me? This is so annoying.” And surprisingly, Zhang Yan, who was in charge of Lin Yuan’s close protection, really did have a handgun on her.

Zhang Yan really did pull something out, but it was a bracelet. Lin Yuan’s left hand was locked to the chair leg by her.

“You play too much, don’t you? Is this cosplay?”

Soon, Lin Yuan’s right hand was also locked.

Ten minutes later~~

Lin Yuan was finally released, and he finally understood. It turned out that because he had been feeding computing power to the computing power system for several days, he hadn’t taken good care of Zhang Yan, and just when Xia Ye called, Zhang Yan’s inner girlishness came out, and she suddenly became emotional.

What could Lin Yuan say? “I don’t think an AI model could ever understand women’s emotions.”

“Really?” Zhang Yan’s attitude improved significantly after she was satisfied. Although Lin Yuan’s physical endurance was lacking and the time was short, the key was still the attitude.

“Because I don’t even know how to build the dataset, and I can’t even complete the modeling, so there’s no talk of how to train an AI model. If you don’t believe me, go chat with ChatGPT-4 and see if you can bore it to death.”

And surprisingly, Zhang Yan wiped her mouth and actually went. Before leaving, she didn’t forget to add, “How do I chat with ChatGPT? I don’t know how.”

“I’ll send you the link right away.” Lin Yuan finally managed to appease this girl.

After the laughter and teasing ended, Lin Yuan struggled to get up, “Damn it! The training hasn’t finished running yet.”

Lin Yuan supported his chin, looking at the laptop screen with a speechless expression. ‘Was I too fast?’ ‘No, the training must be running too slowly.’

After an unknown amount of time, Lin Yuan woke up from his sleep. It turned out he had fallen asleep lie on the desk, and a blanket had appeared over him at some point.

“Thank you, wife!” Lin Yuan shouted towards the door. Zhang Yan was becoming more and more considerate.

Unexpectedly, Zhang Yan ran in as if facing a great enemy, “Shh~~, what are you shouting about? The surveillance alarm will activate automatically.”

Only then did Lin Yuan remember that the surveillance alarm in the room would automatically connect to the security personnel’s listening devices when it detected sounds exceeding a certain decibel level. This was to ensure that in case of an emergency, the situation could be known in time, while also avoiding prying into Lin Yuan’s privacy.

Lin Yuan’s shout just now had probably activated the monitoring equipment.

Although everyone roughly knew what was going on with Zhang Yan as Lin Yuan’s personal bodyguard, the unspoken understanding had not been explicitly stated, so they still had to be discreet.

Lin Yuan said nonchalantly, “It’s going to happen sooner or later, what’s there to be afraid of?”

“You don’t understand. Facts are facts, but procedures are procedures. Not a single step of the normal process can be omitted.”

“So what is the normal process?”

“Hmm,” Zhang Yan whispered, “According to my father’s plan, you and I fell in love after spending a long time together, and then, to take care of your life and complete the task assigned to me by the organization, I resolutely sacrificed myself and married you.”

“Uh, well, okay.” Lin Yuan seemed to understand something. The general idea was: Zhang Yan had to pretend to be sacrificing herself for the mission, not acting like she was throwing herself at him.

“Another one of your father’s schemes, isn’t it?”

“Shut up, you can’t just say things like that.” Although this volume wouldn’t trigger the surveillance equipment to record, Zhang Yan still stopped Lin Yuan’s nonsense.

Lin Yuan just smiled, then focused his attention on the laptop screen.
