Algorithm system

Musk’s considerationsLin Yuan’s decision to open-source Tesla Takeout was a gesture of loyalty, a blood oath of sorts.

This immediately severed his ties with foreign capital, as the foreign investors behind Tesla now wished they could self-destruct him at any moment.

A story worth hundreds of billions of US dollars in market value was just publicly revealed by Lin Yuan.

Although Musk repeatedly emphasized to those guys that Tesla Takeout was entirely created by Lin Yuan from start to finish, and he merely provided a brand name for him.

Furthermore, even if the algorithm was open-sourced, the ownership still belonged to OpenAI.

From the facts, the commercial interests involved did not originally belong to Tesla.

In return for using Tesla’s brand, the intellectual property of the algorithm was assigned to OpenAI.

This was originally a highly profitable deal.

It was equivalent to lending the Tesla brand to Lin Yuan for a while, and in return, gaining ownership of an advanced algorithm.

Although the algorithm was open-sourced, and it was the kind of open-source that was completely free for commercial use, the intangible reputation it brought was also extremely valuable.

According to Musk’s estimation, if OpenAI seized the opportunity to tell a good story and packaged Lin Yuan’s open-source move as a consistent value of its own, it would undoubtedly inject a strong dose of confidence into the world’s perception of OpenAI.

For listed companies, market confidence is priceless.

Musk also had his own selfish motives; his strategy was very clever, as he wanted to replicate Tesla’s success.

Due to the manufacturing industry’s entire supply chain, Musk did not believe that any country or organization in this world could compete with Dragon Country, so his coping strategy was to ”seize the initiative.”

That is, to preemptively occupy the high ground in a certain industry, building the image of a ”first-mover” with massive research and development investment.

Just like Tesla cars for the electric vehicle industry.

As long as one becomes the de facto first-mover and pioneer in a certain field, even if latercomers exert all their efforts to catch up, as long as there is no generational gap in technology between oneself and the latercomers in future competition, one can always appear as a ”preacher” and then sell emotional value.

Just like Tesla cars can sell unfinished houses at a higher price than fully furnished ones, leading the electric vehicle industry with terrifying profit margins.

Most consumers know that Tesla cars have a high premium, but who can blame them when Tesla is the first-mover?

With the blessing of technological concepts and grand ideals, there are plenty of people willing to make offerings.

Therefore, Tesla, which originally focused on driving experience, became the favorite of so many young women, even if the car had almost nothing to do with driving comfort.

Emotional value is the best commodity.

Because it requires no production process and no after-sales service arrangement.

This is even more exaggerated than selling air; at least air is a tangible substance that can be inhaled and felt.

Musk obviously knows how to manipulate emotional value, so he clearly understands how OpenAI should maintain its advantage.

Facing the relentless pursuit of Dragon Country’s manufacturing upgrade strategy, he determined that NVIDIA’s GPUs could not maintain a cliff-like lead indefinitely, nor could lithography machines become a barrier to preventing Dragon Country’s industrial upgrading.

Because the history of this world has already provided the answer.

If technology could be blockaded by barriers, then the British Isles would forever be an empire on which the sun never set, and there would not have been Eagle Country commercial spies all over Britain in the 18th century.

Even the most advanced technology will flow to places that can create value due to the need for capital appreciation.

What cannot be broken? Only a system.

The so-called system is the overall efficiency of a country and a nation.

To put it bluntly, under the same conditions, we simply have more smart people than you, and we are more capable of enduring hardship than you.

After technology is fully circulated, what is ultimately competed is nothing more than a country’s organizational level and national character.

So Musk actually feels very desperate about the competition between the east and west coasts of the Pacific, and he also expresses this despair in his jokes with Lin Yuan.

”Lin, your system is too terrifying. Our advantages are slowly being lost, but I don’t intend to sit by and do nothing.

I know we can never compete with you on the 1 to 100 problem, so I’m going to do the 0 to 1 thing to the extreme.

Even if you complete 1 to 100 perfectly, people in this world will still sing praises of our groundbreaking greatness from 0 to 1.”

Lin Yuan understood Musk’s meaning; this strategy can be summarized in one sentence: do your best in the areas you are good at.

Given the current situation in Eagle Country, the entire system, from top to bottom, is a mess.

However, everything has yin and yang; points with huge disadvantages also contain immense advantages—they have no moral baggage.

This is the confidence Musk believes they have to create from 0 to 1, because Eagle Country does not need to consider making everyone live well; it only needs to make the useful people live well.

Eagle Country can freely attract talent from all over the world, with usefulness as the sole prerequisite, completely disregarding the values and backgrounds of these talents, and even lowering moral and legal standards for them.

To use Musk’s original words, if Lin Yuan was willing to go, he would persuade the Old Boy at Mar-a-Lago to grant Loli Island to Lin Yuan.

This was, of course, an exaggerated joke, but its underlying meaning was that as long as talent is useful enough, Eagle Country can satisfy all kinds of demands from high-end talents without any bottom line, even if those demands are unspeakable.

This is clearly something Dragon Country does not possess; Dragon Country was born from a nation, a nation that inherently possesses and emphasizes a sense of morality.

Based on Dragon Country’s values, it is absolutely impossible to stoop to fulfilling a person’s demands without a bottom line just to recruit talent.

Possessing both virtue and talent has been consistently emphasized by Dragon Country since ancient times.

Therefore, smart people like Musk have discovered Dragon Country’s weakness, and Musk admires Dragon Country’s traditional culture precisely because of this; he greatly admires Dragon Country for having comprehended the philosophy of ”yin and yang coexistence” in ancient times.

Just as Dragon Country insists on both virtue and talent, and thereby gained immense national cohesion, but light is not invulnerable, the Tai Chi yin and yang show its power—Dragon Country’s philosophy inevitably carries moral baggage.

Therefore, the views of people like Musk, in Lin Yuan’s opinion, can be summarized in one sentence: carry out gangster logic to the end.

Since it is impossible to contend with Dragon Country head-on on a moral level, then gangster logic must be carried out to the end.

The main point is: you do your thing, I do mine. Competition in differentiated tracks.

In Musk’s view, Western culture should restore the pioneering spirit of the Age of Discovery, completely abandon useless social welfare, and tilt resources towards Columbus-like adventurous madmen.

However, Lin Yuan had his own understanding of this, summarized in his words: If Zuo Lengshan were to compete with Yue Buqun in being a gentleman, he would certainly lose a hundred times over.

Therefore, Lin Yuan strongly agreed with Musk’s view, and he secretly wanted to see two completely different civilizations emerge on this Earth.

From his personal internal sense of morality, Lin Yuan naturally did not want to see the strong bullying the weak on the land of his own nation.

However, for human groups to develop, resources must be tilted towards the strong.

Thus, Lin Yuan really wanted to see what a civilization that strongly emphasized pioneering would look like.

Naturally, it would be better for such a civilization experiment, which could lead to great chaos, to happen in someone else’s home.

So Lin Yuan strongly supported Musk’s approach, since it wasn’t the Blossom Country that would be in chaos anyway.
