Algorithm system

Looking for partners3Thinking of this, since Coarse Grain Factory couldn’t be approached due to its foreign investment background, Lin Yuan suddenly remembered that all these major internet companies in China have foreign investment backgrounds.

If he cooperated with them today, The Other Shore’s investors would probably receive the news tomorrow.

Although most of these major companies’ research and development are independent, and investors are mostly unable to interfere, as long as there is R&D activity, R&D expenses will inevitably be incurred, which will then inevitably go through financial channels.

Once finances are involved, there will inevitably be audits, and surely overseas investors wouldn’t even fail to arrange an auditor.

It would still be known by overseas investors.

Not only would the R&D work fall through, but Lin Yuan’s short-selling objective would also fall through. His goal of venting his anger would be ruined.

So Lin Yuan had no choice but to find an obscure small company.

But then another problem arose: how could an obscure small company suddenly decide to invest in AI?

Which small company, after seeing OpenAI burn through 20 billion, would still have the ambition and confidence to think it could also succeed?

Lin Yuan was instantly disheartened. ”If it really doesn’t work, I plan to cooperate with the authorities,” Lin Yuan complained to Zhang Yan.

”Is there anything wrong with cooperating with the government?”

”No freedom. If I use the cooperation to short Eagle Country’s tech stocks, that would definitely violate discipline.”

Zhang Yan thought for a moment. ”You’re right. That’s a very serious economic issue.”

”Exactly! Life is so hard!”

”Then are you going to give up?”

”I’m going to look for some ’reckless’ small companies that don’t know what’s coming. If I really can’t find any, then I’ll go talk to Chrysanthemum Factory again and instigate them to give it a try.”

So, Lin Yuan, treating a dead horse as if it were alive, actually went to look for such small companies.

He also used Zhang Yan’s connections to scout out a list of small and micro tech enterprises, all of which were seed-stage tech companies.

Lin Yuan scrutinized them carefully...

”What kind of terrible official website is this? A tech company’s official website can have page errors?”

”Okay, this one doesn’t even have an official website.”

”Isn’t this just a shell for an open-source project?”

”This one is even more ruthless; it claims to be a large group, but the total number of people paying social security doesn’t exceed 50.”

...

”Junior Sister, what kind of things did you find?”

Zhang Yan was a bit embarrassed. ”Uh, I put out word that there was a procurement plan for an AI large language model project, inviting capable local tech companies to participate. This is a preliminary list of seed companies.”

”That’s it? Seed companies? How do I feel like I’m living in the last century? Are these scoundrels the current face of our country’s small and micro private tech enterprises?”

Zhang Yan thought for a long time before slowly speaking, ”Maybe... they really thought it was a project procurement.”

”Alright.” Lin Yuan probably understood. ”Did they also try to use connections to get their companies on this list? I’m looking for a hitman, not someone to share the pie.”

Lin Yuan angrily slammed the list onto the table. ”A bunch of useless people.”

For a moment, he suddenly understood Musk.

”Don’t be angry, I’ll think of another way.”

”I’m not angry. Forget it, I’ll figure it out myself.”

After much thought, Lin Yuan finally had no choice but to search on GitHub.

That’s right, he finally had to go to foreign open-source communities and discover truly seed-stage tech companies by searching for open-source works.

How could a computing power system be missing during such information retrieval moments?

Lin Yuan summoned the system panel, and with computing power injected, he began a comprehensive information screening on GitHub.

He set the filtering conditions: open-source projects must be in the AI large model field, must have had a major version update within the last six months, and the IP address must be domestic.

As the search began, Lin Yuan leaned on the table, holding his waist.

The feeling of emptiness brought by transforming essence into computing power made his steps light and his mind blank. Lin Yuan felt completely drained, as if his soul was about to ascend.

”What’s wrong with you?” Zhang Yan asked with concern, looking at Lin Yuan’s appearance. ”I haven’t bothered you lately, so why is your body getting weaker?”

Lin Yuan was also very helpless; recently, he had been frequently using the computing power system for work.

But this broken system hardly ever issued tasks, and the only way to obtain computing power was through *that*. It would be strange if he wasn’t feeling weak.

”You go rest for a bit. What do you want to eat? I’ll make it for you.”

”No need, I’ll be fine once I get through this. I know my body.”

Finally, the computing power system’s search was complete.

The top-ranked large model was QW, the QianWen series from Li Li. This was also within Lin Yuan’s expectations. However, due to what was previously stated, Lin Yuan could not cooperate with companies that had foreign investment backgrounds. Therefore, this could only be excluded.

The second-ranked one was an obscure small company.

”You should go rest now.” Zhang Yan looked at Lin Yuan, who seemed to be losing it, and was truly worried. ”I don’t want to be a widow.”

”Then you can be buried with me,” Lin Yuan blurted out.

”Get lost!” Zhang Yan angrily turned and walked out. ”I can’t be bothered with you.”

Lin Yuan carefully scrutinized this small company—DS, Deep Search.

The name itself had a technological feel. Deep. What AI needs most today is depth. Because AI cannot do without neural networks, and the deeper the neural network, the more accurate the AI’s predictions.

Depth represents the excavation and exploration of data.

Lin Yuan began to examine the company’s products.

The earliest open-source product was DS Coder. This was a code large model that supported code generation, debugging, and data analysis tasks for multiple programming languages. In layman’s terms: it could help programmers generate code, making their work easier.

Lin Yuan immediately downloaded and used it.

A little while later~~

”Awesome!” Lin Yuan’s exclamation echoed through the room.

Soon, Zhang Yan rushed in, talking into her earpiece as she walked, ”It’s nothing, nothing, Forest is just a bit crazy.” Forest was Lin Yuan’s current codename.

”Disarm security, everything is normal.”

Zhang Yan turned off her earpiece and said, ”What the hell? Your voice was so loud it triggered the surveillance alarm.”

”Uh, okay, I was just too excited.”

”What is it?” Zhang Yan, wearing an apron, leaned over to look.

Lin Yuan explained, ”I suddenly found a divine tool for writing code. So much formulaic code can be automatically generated with this thing. I can’t believe I didn’t know about it before.”

”That’s still no reason to get this excited. Come out in five minutes; I’ve made you noodles. If you’re out one minute late, I’ll pour the noodles on your laptop.”

”Oh!” Lin Yuan could only reluctantly accept her enthusiasm.

Lin Yuan then examined the general large model released by this company—DS LLM.

This thing claimed to have 67 billion parameters and also had 7-byte and 67-byte versions. Lin Yuan didn’t think much and began local deployment.

While the model was downloading, he took the opportunity to go out and eat a bowl of noodles with Zhang Yan.
