New Ability Every Ten Days: Becoming a Vampire Made Me Too OP

The Ancient Sages Society had done a decent job keeping its secrets, but this base was clearly not an important one. Under Yu Xian’s instructions, Zhou Tai No. 2 made a round through the base before returning to his room. Since things on this side were settled for now, Yu Xian stopped paying attention to him and continued drinking blood at the Perfect Lifeform factory.

A while later, a very beautiful Perfect Lifeform leaped out from the lower levels. Its appearance closely resembled that of a griffin, and when it opened its mouth, one could see the dense rows of sharp teeth inside.

Yu Xian’s eyes lit up, and he quickly said, ”Director, spare that monster!”

Yu Lie had been cutting down Perfect Lifeforms with great satisfaction. He stopped and looked over to Yu Xian. ”What for?”

Xiao Cheng, however, did not stop. He tapped his staff against the ground, and the griffin-like Perfect Lifeform, which had been lunging toward them, was instantly frozen in midair.

Yu Xian sheepishly rubbed the back of his neck. ”I’ve awakened a new ability that lets me control these Perfect Lifeforms. I want to test it out on this one.”

Yu Lie lowered his spear. ”Are you sure you can control it? The gap between your ranks is far too big.”

Although it looked as if he was cutting down one small fry after another, making these Perfect Lifeforms seem weak, the truth was that all the Perfect Lifeforms showing up now were Dragon-rank monsters. Even if Gong Qian were here, she could suppress only one of them at most, and she probably would not be able to defeat it.

It was only because Yu Lie was too powerful that these Perfect Lifeforms appeared weak. Of course, by comparison, the Xingtian Zombie King’s defensive power was only looking more and more impressive.

Yu Xian replied, ”I’ll give it a try.”

He was not sure whether his Ultimate Source Blood could control a Dragon-rank Perfect Lifeform. However, with Yu Lie and Xiao Cheng there to back him up, this was an opportunity he could not afford to miss.

When he had seen the monsters controlled by Zhou Tai No. 3 and his other personalities, the idea of using Ultimate Source Blood to control them had crossed his mind. However, each monster was effectively a combination of two separate, independent entities: the monster, which was still alive, and the Brain-Clinging Neural Parasite controlling it. So, he wasn’t sure which one his Ultimate Source Blood would take control of.

If it took control of the monster instead of Zhou Tai No. 3 himself, Zhou Tai No. 3 would notice immediately. He would realize that Zhou Tai No. 2 had been turned, exposing Yu Xian.

In the end, after considering all the uncertain factors, he did not make a move. Putting aside Zhou Tai No. 2, whom he had controlled almost by accident, the griffin-like Perfect Lifeform before him was the first being he was truly attempting to control with Ultimate Source Blood.

Yu Xian stepped forward and used a spatial bubble to draw out some of his blood. He reshaped the bubble into a needle. However, when he attempted to prick the griffin-like Perfect Lifeform, he encountered an awkward problem. The bubble had actually failed to penetrate the creature’s skin. Yu Lie could butcher them with a single swing of his spear, but to Yu Xian’s attacks, their defense was impervious.

Yu Xian turned around, somewhat embarrassed. ”Director...”

Speechless, Yu Lie walked forward and used his Tri-Pointed Double-Edged Spear to cut a thin wound on the creature’s skin. Then Yu Xian injected the Ultimate Source Blood into it through the wound.

After that, all three of them retreated. Once Xiao Cheng released his ability, the griffin-like Perfect Lifeform immediately thrashed its head around, even slamming it against the ground.

Yu Lie asked, ”Can you do it or not? If you can’t, I’ll kill it.”

Sensing the Ultimate Source Blood inside the creature invading its brain, Yu Xian nodded. ”No problem. It won’t be able to struggle for much longer.”

From this comparison, he concluded that the weaker a creature was, the faster his Ultimate Source Blood could take control of it. The stronger the creature was, the longer the process took, and there was even a chance of failure.

The griffin-like Perfect Lifeform bit at its own neck, as if trying to remove the Ultimate Source Blood from its body. But in the end, this was futile.

After struggling for about five minutes, the creature trembled. Then, like a lapdog, it wagged its head and sidled up to Yu Xian. It even rolled around on the ground and exposed its belly. Clearly, the griffin-like Perfect Lifeform thought this was a gesture of submission.

Yu Xian commanded it. ”Get up!”

The griffin-like Perfect Lifeform immediately got up and lowered its head to look at Yu Xian. It stood nearly five meters tall, its body packed with powerful muscles. Moreover, it possessed multiple super abilities. Yu Xian even suspected that a researcher had created this monster while intending to make a griffin. Otherwise, there was no way it would look so similar to one.

Yu Xian smiled. ”From now on, you’ll be called... Yu Lie. Lie as in hunting—”

But before he could finish, Yu Lie smacked him on the back of the head. ”Keep messing around, you little brat!”

Yu Xian quickly changed his words. ”Then I’ll call it Little Grifflet. Griff as in griffin!”

Xiao Cheng could not help roasting him. ”Your naming talent really is terrible. In my opinion, we should call it Lion-Griffin.”

Speechless, Yu Lie and Yu Xian both turned to Xiao Cheng. If Jin Sheng woke up and heard that name, he would probably be so angry that he would slip back into a coma.[1]

At that moment, another Perfect Lifeform emerged from underground. Yu Lie and Xiao Cheng both looked at Yu Xian. Yu Xian glanced at the newly emerged Perfect Lifeform and shook his head. ”Too ugly. I don’t want it.”

Xiao Cheng hurriedly asked, ”Wait. Is there an upper limit to the number of creatures you can control?”

Yu Xian shook his head. ”As long as I have Ultimate Source Blood, I can control other creatures without limit.”

A shrewd light shone in Xiao Cheng’s eyes. ”Then control it. If you don’t want it, just order it to obey my commands. I’ll order it to guard an ordinary school.”

Yu Lie nodded. ”Not a bad idea. But it will need to be trained first. Only after it passes the training can it officially take up the post.”

The Aberrant Parasite incident had indeed passed, but they could also encounter other crises in the future. If every ordinary school in every city had a Dragon-rank creature guarding it, there was no doubt that the students’ chances of survival would increase greatly.

However, for safety’s sake, Yu Lie asked many more questions about the details of this ability. He even planned to test it several more times afterward and only put it into use once he was certain it was safe.

After that, the three of them worked together, constantly subduing Perfect Lifeforms and converting them into Yu Xian’s bloodkin through Ultimate Source Blood. Eventually, they didn’t even need to lift a finger. The moment a Perfect Lifeform showed itself, dozens of others would swarm forward, pinning it down and binding it with their tentacles before delivering it straight to Yu Xian.

After a busy stretch of work, Yu Xian subdued more than fifty Perfect Lifeforms. Other than one Perfect Lifeform with a rather special ability that was only Tiger rank, the rest were all Dragon rank.

Yu Xian kept only the beautiful griffin-like Perfect Lifeform and another that looked like a dragon for himself. As for the rest of them, the ugly ones, he gave them to Qilin. He believed that in the future, they would shine in their assigned posts and protect even more people.

1. There are two layers of wordplay here. 小鹫子 (xiǎo jiùzi) or Little Grifflet is pronounced exactly like 小舅子, meaning “one’s wife’s younger brother,” hence Yu Xian’s clarification that he means the 鹫 in 狮鹫 (shī jiù) or griffin. Xiao Cheng’s alternative, 狮子鹫 (“Lion-Griffin”), combines “lion” with the 鹫 from griffin while also referencing Jin Sheng’s lion-themed codename, Lion’s Radiance, 狮子光, and his ability, Lion’s Majestic Radiance, 狮子威光. ☜
