New Ability Every Ten Days: Becoming a Vampire Made Me Too OP

The flames from the explosion surged out. Yu Xian, Yu Lie, and Xiao Cheng remained where they stood. Yu Lie formed a sword finger with his right hand [1]and chanted, ”Wind Dragon, heed my summons! By urgent decree, obey my command!”

He pointed the sword finger forward, and his fingertips sent forth a violent gale toward the surging flames, forcing them all back into the factory. The flames knocked down many half-finished Perfect Lifeforms that were escaping the factory.

However, the half-finished Perfect Lifeforms on the upper levels were merely the appetizer. Not long after they fell, dozens of charred Perfect Lifeforms charged out of the flames. Upon seeing the three people blocking their path, one of them, covered in Aberrant Parasite tentacles all over, opened its mouth and spewed a torrent of searing, corrosive green fluid.

This time, all three of them sprang into action. Yu Lie reacted the fastest. A beam of golden light shot forth from his Heavenly Eye, slicing through the torrent of green fluid and scattering it to either side. Although the Perfect Lifeform that had spewed it managed to dodge the beam, the golden light severed many of its tentacles.

Xiao Cheng took out a staff and tapped it against the ground. Countless lines of light resembling electric circuits appeared across the floor. Every Perfect Lifeform that the lines struck immediately froze into a crawl.

Yu Xian attacked last, but his attack range was enormous, his accuracy frighteningly high, and his destructive power terrifying. The spatial bubbles hidden in the grooves of his fingerprints appeared one after another above each Perfect Lifeform. They then expanded, their interiors filling with chaos and distortion before crashing down, twisting every Perfect Lifeform into clouds of blood mist.

Just as they killed this batch of Perfect Lifeforms, a monster slowly walked out from the blazing flames. It had the head of a goat, the body of a bat, and octopus tentacles as its limbs.

It opened its mouth and drew in a deep breath, sucking in all the blood in the surrounding area. Then it bared its maw, lined with dense rows of teeth, and roared at the three of them.

Yu Lie warned. ”Careful. It’s Tiger rank!”

It was stronger than the earlier defective Perfect Lifeforms, which had been Wolf rank at best.

However, just as the three of them were about to attack, the floor exploded. A massive arm burst through the rubble and seized the Tiger-rank Perfect Lifeform. It struggled violently, striking the arm again and again, but could leave only a few shallow scratches. It was then dragged beneath the floor. A moment later, the sound of chewing echoed from below.

Both Yu Lie and Yu Xian were stunned. Yu Lie’s Heavenly Eye had failed to detect the monster beneath the ground, while Yu Xian’s scent model had revealed no trace of it either. Clearly, the creature possessed an exceptionally powerful stealth ability.

In the scent model inside Yu Xian’s mind, there was no monster beneath them at all, only a mess of equipment and raging flames. There was not even a blank spot. He checked again and again, and his expression turned grave. ”Director, that monster seems to be completely nonexistent on the sensory level.”

Yu Lie’s expression was equally grave. ”They indeed managed to cobble together something extraordinary.”

Before, he had not even taken out his weapon. But now, he drew the Thri-Point Double-Edged Spear from his spatial ring and gripped it tightly in his hand.

The large hole from where the monster had reached out was suddenly torn open. A creature resembling both a crocodile and a dinosaur crawled out from within, its cold vertical pupils sweeping over the three of them.

Yu Xian immediately used Appraisal. After gaining Super Smell and Super Brain, he already understood most living creatures inside and out, so there was little need for him to use Appraisal anymore. But this monster was different. He had to use Appraisal on it.

The monster’s attributes quickly appeared in his mind.

Yu Xian immediately relayed the information to Yu Lie and Xiao Cheng.

Yu Lie frowned. ”Existence Severance... I feel like I’ve heard of it somewhere before.”

Xiao Cheng replied, ”Existence Severance is an ability belonging to the Bai Ze. But isn’t Bai Ze one of the hardest beings to capture or even encounter?”

Yu Xian said, ”It might not have come from a true Bai Ze. There is a girl at our school who was influenced by Bai Ze and awakened Bai Ze’s ability.”

According to rumors, Yu Meiren, the student council president of the Supernatural Academy, had awakened her abilities after she dreamed of Bai Ze. And since there was a first, there was bound to be a second. It was probable that more people, or even animals, had gained abilities under Bai Ze’s influence. Existence Severance could very well be one of them.

Although Peng Zu had tried to interfere with Qilin’s ability to obtain more information by blowing up the factory, in truth, Yu Xian had already grasped everything in the factory the moment he entered the barrier. Through this model of the factory, he had located a large amount of experimental data and learned many inside details.

The series of ”Super” abilities that Perfect Lifeforms possessed actually came from various creatures with mythic beast bloodlines. Super Smell, for example, had been extracted from a black dog that possessed the bloodline of the Howling Celestial Dog. That black dog had not inherited any other abilities but the Howling Celestial Hound’s Super Smell.

Another example was Super Brain. It had actually come from a descendant of the mythic beast Xie Zhi. Although this mythic beast was intelligent, it was still ultimately a wild beast. When Peng Zu and his people were capturing strange beasts on a large scale, it had unfortunately fallen into their hands and became one of their materials.[2]

Looking at the Perfect Lifeform No. 006, Yu Lie said gravely, ”So they can use the special properties of Aberrant Parasites to stitch together abilities of different mythic beasts?”

Qilin had not conducted much research on Perfect Lifeforms, mainly because the Aberrant Parasite Fluid fused their various genes until they became completely unrecognizable. It was almost like the genes were encrypted. So, they knew that Perfect Lifeforms were powerful, but the source of their abilities remained a mystery.

Xiao Cheng let out a long sigh. ”Why are there always people taking crooked paths and stirring up chaos, as if the world isn’t already messy enough? Is it really so hard to keep your head down and live a decent life?”

As the three of them observed the creature, the leg muscles of the Perfect Lifeform No. 006 bulged. The next instant, it leaped into the air and lunged at them with its mouth wide open. Xiao Cheng immediately launched a mass of gray energy, freezing the creature in midair.

Yu Lie struck out in fury. A golden light erupted as his Tri-Pointed Double-Edged Spear cleaved through the air, piercing straight up to the factory ceiling. The spear halved Perfect Lifeform No. 006 right then and there, and the blow reduced at least ten percent of the creature’s flesh to ashes.

The strike showed how terrifying Yu Lie’s attacks truly were. The only reason he had failed to break through the Xingtian Zombie King’s defenses was that the zombie’s defense was simply too abnormal. Against a true heavyweight like Yu Lie, ordinary Dragon-rank beings were nothing more than clay chickens and pottery dogs.

1. In case you are unfamiliar with the term ”sword finger,” it refers to a hand gesture where the ring finger and little finger are bent, with the thumb pressing down on the joints of these two fingers, while the index finger and middle finger are extended and held together. 2. 獬豸 (Xiè Zhì) is a legendary, single-horned divine beast from East Asian mythology that serves as the ultimate symbol of law, truth, and absolute justice. Endowed with supreme spiritual intelligence, Xie Zhi possesses the supernatural ability to instantly distinguish right from wrong, detect lies, and see through any deception. In ancient judicial folklore, it was brought into courts to resolve impossible cases; the beast would gaze into the souls of the litigants and use its mythic horn to gore the guilty party while leaving the innocent unharmed. ☜
