Rebirth before Apocalypse: My Whole Family are Bigshots!

Chapter 46: Chapter 46: Hypermarket

Today’s sunshine is great.

Warm sunlight spills onto the ground, unlike the bone-chilling cold of the past few days.

Piles of grimacing zombies lie on the ground, even though they’re dead, their faces remain twisted.

Bai Yifan, with trembling hands, supports the sack, having already collected quite a few crystal cores.

Wang Yiyun and Liu Jing are happily dissecting the crystal cores, occasionally commenting on their looks.

”Tsk tsk, look at this zombie, its front teeth are sticking out,” Wang Yiyun frowned and complained, ”I hate encountering bodies like this, the family always thinks my makeup skills are bad!”

Wang Yiyun rubbed her hands, struggling to resist the urge to put makeup on the zombie.

It’s so hard for her!

”Yours is not bad, look at this one!” Liu Jing, expressionless, pointed to a zombie she dissected, ”Look, its face has been hammered by someone, and covered in countless wounds, without any arms, and I can’t even determine how it died after half a day!”

Liu Jing and Wang Yiyun, the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law duo, gossip while dissecting the crystal cores.

As casually as if they’re buying cabbage and carrots on the street.

Bai Anhai and Bai Zhengxuan silently set up the grill, barbequing skewers, and getting ready to barbeque.

Bai Xiqin and Leng Yebai stand guard on the side, preventing any zombies from suddenly attacking unnoticed.

Every so often, a catchy tune plays for a while, giving Liu Jing and Wang Yiyun more zombies to work on.

Sizzle sizzle sizzle!

The charcoal grills the meat skewers, making them sizzle with oil, occasionally brushing some honey and sauce, increasing the fragrance level.

Bai Xiqin holds a skewer in one hand, controlling steel needles to slaughter the zombies with the other, thoroughly enjoying it.

”Xiao Fan, do you want some?”

Bai Xiqin hands a skewer to Bai Yifan.

”...No,” Bai Yifan’s mouth twitches hard.

In front of him are piles of zombies, he can’t eat at all.

His young heart has suffered severe trauma.

”Oh, then never mind!”

Bai Xiqin shrugs, chewing on the fragrant skewer, feeling utterly satisfied inside.

This is the life she has longed for in three years of the apocalypse.

Food, drinks, and family.

It wasn’t until the sun started to slant westward that Liu Jing and Wang Yiyun stopped.

Bai Yifan struggled to carry the sack to Bai Xiqin, filled with nothing but crystal cores!

Bai Xiqin waved her hand, and the sack of crystal cores was stored away.

All the zombie corpses were gathered in one place, a bucket of oil poured, then set on fire.

If left unattended, zombie corpses easily breed bacteria, contaminating water sources.

”That’ll be it for today! Let’s collect more supplies tomorrow!”

Liu Jing clapped her hands in satisfaction.

It was the day she dissected the most heads in her life!

Ever since retirement, there weren’t any bodies to practice on.

As an experienced forensic doctor, her hands itch if she doesn’t dissect for a day!

Today, it was satisfying!

Wang Yiyun looked at the burning corpses, puckered her mouth, and glanced resentfully at Bai Anhai.

Why set the fire so fast?

She had just planned to grab a cutie and challenge her makeup skills!

Bai Anhai subconsciously ignored Wang Yiyun’s resentful gaze and decided to set the fire even faster next time!

Absolutely can’t give his wife any chance!

After cleaning the bloodstains off themselves, the family absorbed some superpower, waiting until the moon was high before resting.

Another day passed.

The next day.

Bai Yifan continued driving the bus into the city.

Considering the merciless slaughter yesterday, there weren’t many zombies on the city streets.

The scattered few were run over by the bus.

”Turn right ahead, then turn left.”

Bai Xiqin glanced at the map, speaking occasionally.

Their target was a large supermarket with many people, meaning many zombies.

They’re planning to clean it up and gather supplies.

Such large supermarkets are hard for ordinary people to clean; even if they don’t go, the supplies inside would go to waste.

”Help! Is it a rescue team?”

Occasionally, people from residential buildings shout to the bus, but the Bai Family does not respond.

After over ten days since the apocalypse, those still hoping for others to save them are just people craving comfort.

The bus crashed its way through and quickly arrived at their destination.

This was a chain supermarket with three floors.

Upon reaching the supermarket entrance, they heard angry roars of zombies inside.

The supermarket entrance is chained from outside, with zombies inside pounding but to no avail.

”Why is the lock outside?”

Bai Yifan was surprised seeing the front door chained outside.

”To prevent zombies from getting out,” Bai Xiqin said meaningfully.

As for whether there were any survivors inside when it was locked, that remains unknown.

With so many people in the mall, some certainly couldn’t escape quickly enough.

”In the apocalypse, it’s best not to trust others easily,” Liu Jing said, sighing at the chains.

”Roar―”

The supermarket echoed with zombie growls.

The zombies inside discovered the Bai Family.

Bai Yifan, trembling, approached the supermarket entrance, seeing mobs of zombies inside.

His shaking hand rested on the lock, pale yellow superpower entwining around it.

With a click, the lock opened.

Bai Yifan bit his lip, pulling off the chain forcefully, then retreating wildly.

The zombies inside rushed out, yet even before lunging at their coveted flesh, they were shocked crisply by purple electric sparks.

Leng Yebai stood at the forefront, the intense purple light enveloping the zombie horde, toppling them one by one.

Bai Xiqin used her Control Ability to remotely move the zombies crowding the entrance, allowing more to come out.

To efficiently dissect crystal cores, Bai Xiqin arranged the zombies in neat rows, all heads facing one direction.

Wave after wave turned into stack after stack.

Those walking vertically turned into those lying horizontally.

All marching forward together.

The Bai Family took turns standing in front, each exerting their superpowers to the fullest.

Everyone noticed that after exhausting their superpowers, it’s easier to improve them.

These were all low-level zombies, barely a challenge for the Second and Third Rank members of the Bai Family.

Bai Xiqin and Leng Yebai were Third Rank Superpower Users.

Bai Yifan was a First Rank Superpower User.

The rest were Second Rank Superpower Users.

The Bai Family’s strength allowed them to traverse freely.

With Bai Xiqin as a prophet, the family’s superpower training led them ahead of most Superpower Users.

After two hours, no more zombies emerged.

”We’ll dig the crystal cores here, you all go inside!”

Liu Jing and Wang Yiyun’s eyes gleamed as they gazed at the stacks of zombies.

”Leng Yebai and I will head inside!” Bai Xiqin glanced at the residential building opposite the supermarket, ”I’m worried about mom and grandma’s safety.”

In the apocalypse, not only zombies but humans can be dangerous.

”Okay, be careful, I won’t let anyone inside.”

Bai Anhai nodded slightly, peeked inside the supermarket, seeing no zombies, finally at ease, let Bai Xiqin and Leng Yebai enter.

The matter of the space couldn’t be exposed to others, the main entrance must be guarded, ensuring no one sees.

Bai Yifan silently followed the formidable mother-in-law duo, supporting the sack and collecting crystal cores.

After giving some instructions, Bai Xiqin and Leng Yebai walked into the supermarket side by side.

A faint smile hung on Leng Yebai’s cool face, slightly excited.

Finally, a chance to be alone for a while.
