Rebirth before Apocalypse: My Whole Family are Bigshots!

Chapter 45: Chapter 45: Such a Blue Sky~

The dumplings made by the Bai Family were delicious, with thin skins and lots of filling, just the right balance of flavors.

Uncle Wang gobbled down two bowls in one go, reluctantly putting down his bowl and chopsticks.

”Buddy, where are you headed? Why not come with us?”

Bai Zhengxuan smiled as he looked at Uncle Wang.

At the wind power plant there were so many people, so many cars, but only Uncle Wang stopped.

It’s not that those people were unkind, just that Uncle Wang valued loyalty greatly.

”No, I’ve got to head to M City to find someone!”

Uncle Wang waved his hand, declining the offer.

If it weren’t for him clearing the way for others, he might have gone straight to M City long ago.

”Here’s a map, hope you might find it useful.”

Bai Xiqin handed Uncle Wang a stack of maps, detailed maps of various places across the country.

Bai Anhai and Leng Yebai moved several boxes of supplies from the bus onto the garbage truck.

Uncle Wang, smiling broadly, took them and solemnly waved to the Bai Family, driving off in the garbage truck.

The green garbage truck stirred up a cloud of dust on the road, exuding an aura of dominance.

After watching Uncle Wang depart, the family embarked on a new journey.

This time the destination was Z City, adjacent to S City and much more bustling.

There were more supplies inside, but more zombies too.

The driver was still Bai Yifan, who didn’t have a license.

Everyone’s powers were depleted, and they were very tired, lying down on the beds in the bus’s upper level to sleep.

Bai Yifan was becoming more skilled at driving.

Whoa! There’s a zombie ahead!

Hit it!

Ugh! There’s a scrapped car blocking the way!

Hit it!

Oh no! There’s a stubborn resident in the middle of the road!

Hit――Bang!

The bus made an emergency stop!

”Why did we stop?”

Bai Anhai’s sleepy voice came from above.

”Taking a break since it’s getting dark. I’ll find a safe spot and we’ll continue tomorrow!” Bai Yifan weakly responded.

Bai Anhai turned over and went back to sleep.

Bai Yifan breathed a sigh of relief, his mouth twitching as he looked ahead.

The entire front of the bus had crashed into the house, the driver’s seat was right in the middle of the living room.

Luckily, it was empty inside.

He backed up extremely slowly until the bus was out.

The fragile house collapsed with a boom.

Bai Yifan gingerly waited for a while, hearing no noise from above, he breathed a sigh of relief realizing no one had woken up.

Emptied of their powers like that, it’s hardly surprising they didn’t wake up!

It’s not him being cowardly, he just wanted everyone to have a good sleep.

Once the bus was out, Bai Yifan found a place to park.

Calmly, he lay on the driver’s seat, soft yellow energy seeped from him, slowly repairing the slightly deformed front end of the bus.

He wasn’t cowardly at all, he just didn’t want to waste his father’s Thunder Ability!

The next day.

Bai Xiqin rubbed her sore arms, descending from the upper level, and glanced outside.

It was very open outside, aside from a collapsed, deserted house, there was nothing else.

”Where are we?” Bai Xiqin asked.

”We’re almost in Z City. I worry that with low powers you all might be in danger, so we’ll proceed once everyone’s recovered their strength.” Bai Yifan calmly stated.

Bai Xiqin raised her eyebrows, oh well!

Parking in the wilderness is actually the most dangerous; who knows when a rat outbreak might occur!

But, she couldn’t hurt her brother’s confidence!

Breakfast was simple, Bai Yifan fried some eggs and made a pot of noodle soup.

”Ugh! Life is so unexpected!” Bai Zhengxuan reflected, looking at the collapsed house, ”The house has fallen; it seems to have happened not long ago, even if the apocalypse ends, this family will surely not return!”

”Must’ve been some unlucky driver who crashed into it!” Liu Jing sighed, shaking her head slightly.

Life is unpredictable!

The apocalypse is bad enough, and now this family’s house has collapsed too!

Even worse!

Bai Yifan: ...

As long as he had no morals, no one could morally blackmail him!

After breakfast, Bai Yifan continued driving.

After less than five kilometers, the bus finally reached Z City.

On the outskirts of Z City there were quite a few zombies, looking rather normal, at least not controlled by any High Rank Zombies.

The aimlessly wandering zombies heard the noise of the bus and lunged towards it with menacing growls.

Bai Yifan stepped on the gas, running over quite a few along the way.

”Park over here!”

Bai Anhai directed Bai Yifan to pull over.

Roar――

A dozen zombies angrily roared and pounced on the bus, seeming like they could break in any second.

Bai Xiqin opened the window slightly, a frost-coated steel needle stabbed into a zombie’s temple, and shot into the next zombie’s temple in the air.

Thud~

The ground around the bus was littered with fallen zombies.

The Bai Family members gradually alighted from the bus, preparing to collect Crystal Cores.

”You’re my little apple, I can never love you too much, your rosy little face warms my little home...”

The catchy song wafted through the speakers into the air, attracting more zombies to this side.

Bai Anhai and Bai Zhengxuan watched awkwardly as a horde of vicious-looking zombies charged over, their legs trembling subconsciously.

Compared to zombies, they would rather deal with mutant rats.

Funeral Master Wang Yiyun and retired forensic doctor Liu Jing looked ahead at the oncoming zombies with bright eyes.

These were all Crystal Cores, after all!

Wang Yiyun waved her hand, purple lightning flashed toward the zombies, frying five or six zombies instantly, leaving them burnt and unable to rise again.

Liu Jing casually splashed water from a bottle into the air, the water froze instantly, sharp ice needles stabbing towards the zombie’s heads.

This method was taught by Bai Xiqin, more easily creating ice without wasting superpowers.

Zombies dropped in droves.

Before anyone else could step in, all attracted zombies fell to the ground without exception.

”Let’s start with this amount, we’ll continue after we’ve dug out all the Crystal Cores!”

Liu Jing, holding a dagger, excitedly looked at the fallen zombies.

Bai Xiqin’s face twitched as she silently took back the speaker, turning it off.

”Xiao Fan, keep up!”

Wang Yiyun waved her hand and took the dagger to dig for Crystal Cores.

Bai Yifan, trembling hands holding a sack, silently followed behind his mom and grandma, collecting Crystal Cores.

Every white Crystal Core was flung into the sack, a bountiful harvest.

Bai Anhai and Bai Zhengxuan tried not to look too much at the pile of zombie corpses, to avoid having nightmares of being pursued by zombies.

They stood guard, ready to take out any zombies stupid enough to approach.

”The weather is so nice today, perfect for a barbecue!”

Liu Jing slit open a zombie’s temple with her dagger, skillfully extracting the Crystal Core and tossing it into the sack, gazing at the blue sky and white clouds with a sigh.

The sky is so blue!

The sun is so warm!

The weather is so great!

Such nice weather, perfect for a barbecue!

Bai Yifan stood amid the horde of vicious zombie corpses, trying his best to keep his legs from shaking, not daring to complain at all.

”If you want barbecue, let’s have barbecue!” Liu Jing said to Bai Zhengxuan and Bai Anhai, ”You guys prepare the ingredients; we’re having barbecue for lunch today!”

Bai Anhai’s mouth twitched as he looked at the zombie-strewn ground, ”Right here?”

”Do you have a problem?” Liu Jing raised her eyebrows.

”...No, I’m just worried everyone might get indigestion.” Bai Anhai weakly replied.

”Dad, here’s a grill, let’s do it here!”

Bai Xiqin swallowed her saliva, directly pulling out a barbecue grill from space.

She hadn’t had barbecue for over three years!

Bai Anhai: ...
