Rebirth before Apocalypse: My Whole Family are Bigshots!

Chapter 3: Chapter 3: Good Things Stay in the Family

Aside from his being an uncle, Bai Yifan truly couldn’t think of anything that could make his sister so serious.

Bai Xiqin’s breath hitched, stunned by her own brother’s shocking words.

She paused for a long time, not responding.

”Could it be true?” Bai Yifan’s face twisted slightly, ”Dad would definitely kill me!”

”Why would he hit you?” Bai Xiqin asked instinctively.

”When have Dad and Mom ever hit you?” Bai Yifan rolled his eyes, ”Whenever something happens in our family, isn’t it always me, the man, who carries the burden? If you did something wrong, it’s definitely because I wasn’t looking out for you!”

A man must bear the pain a man should bear!

Bai Xiqin was silent for a second, then calmly said, ”Sorry to disappoint you, you’re not going to be an uncle, I just want to tell you, in three months, the apocalypse is going to break out!”

”No pregnancy then!” Bai Yifan breathed a sigh of relief.

That’s good, he won’t get beaten up!

Wait a minute, apocalypse?

”Sis, are you still not awake from your sleep?” Bai Yifan was full of confusion.

”It’s true, the apocalypse has really broken out.” Bai Xiqin placed a hand on Bai Yifan’s shoulder, silently chanting space.

The siblings disappeared into thin air simultaneously.

Bai Yifan’s vision blurred, and he found himself on a lush grassy field.

”This, this, this!” Bai Yifan rubbed his eyes hard, looking at Bai Xiqin in disbelief, ”Is this... a novel-like Personal Space?”

”Yes!”

Bai Xiqin nodded affirmatively and then took Bai Yifan out of the space.

Bai Yifan collapsed into the chair, staring wide-eyed at Bai Xiqin, ”Sis, did you just say the apocalypse?”

”Yes, it’s like those novels you read, with zombies!”

Bai Xiqin felt slightly disoriented, as if she was back during that nerve-racking time.

”Then, how do you know?” Bai Yifan scratched his head vigorously, suddenly thinking of something, ”Could it be a rebirth?”

”Not a rebirth, just a bad dream!”

Bai Xiqin paused slightly, instinctively shaking her head.

She doesn’t want to admit what she saw during those three years was real, might as well treat it as a dream.

When the dream ends, the world is still good, the family is still there.

”Dream?” Bai Yifan tentatively asked, ”Then what did you dream about?”

”I dreamt that I died.” Bai Xiqin calmly responded.

”Condolences...” Bai Yifan felt slightly awkward, scratching his head, eventually squeezing out a sentence, ”Anyway, you’re alive now!”

”Mm!” Bai Xiqin raised an eyebrow and nodded again.

Indeed, she is undeniably alive now.

”By the way, what about me then? Did I awaken any legendary superpower?” Bai Yifan’s eyes suddenly brightened.

If he could have a legendary superpower, how cool would that be!

Plus, he wouldn’t have to take college entrance exams!

Nor would he have to study that cursed English!

Seems like a pretty good deal.

”Pretty well, every year on January 21st, I would pick a white chrysanthemum for you, rain or shine.” Bai Xiqin calmly said, ”You slept peacefully.”

Bai Yifan: ???

Bai Yifan silently held his heart, feeling its beat, finally catching his breath.

Out of the blue hearing someone say he’d die in the future was indeed... hard to accept.

”How did I die?”

Bai Yifan silently shrank into the chair, hugging himself, as if that would give him a bit of warmth.

”Why don’t you ask about Mom and Dad?” Bai Xiqin countered.

”Then how about Mom and Dad?” Bai Yifan followed Bai Xiqin’s words and asked.

”They turned into zombies to save us.”

Bai Xiqin slowly closed her eyes, a pang in her heart.

Bai Yifan was silent for a while, then smiled wryly, ”It’s okay, as long as our family is still fine now!”

”This time our family will definitely survive well together!”

Bai Xiqin opened her eyes, full of determination.

She has seen the future and possesses a Personal Space, no matter what, she can lead her family to survive the apocalypse.

”Sis, by the way, how did I die?” Bai Yifan scratched his head and asked again.

”After Mom and Dad turned into zombies, you weren’t good at sports, and you couldn’t outrun them.” Bai Xiqin glanced at Bai Yifan, adding calmly, ”Fortunately—Fertilizer doesn’t flow outside the family field.”

Bai Yifan’s expression instantly became quite colorful, finally managing to say, ”That’s true!”

At least it didn’t benefit outsiders!

Bai Yifan felt very conflicted inside, not knowing whether to be happy about not having to take exams or to be upset about being eaten.

”It’s okay, since everyone died, the important thing is we’re alive!”

Bai Xiqin patted Bai Yifan’s shoulder, offering some comforting words.

Bai Yifan: ...

Thanks, not comforted at all.

”How many days until the apocalypse?” Bai Yifan smiled lightly, ”The biggest luck is that you have a Personal Space, we can just stockpile supplies in it, just like in the novels.”

”Three months left.” Bai Xiqin looked at the calendar on her phone, speaking softly, ”This time our family won’t be perfectly dead.”

”Right!” Bai Yifan thought of Bai Xiqin’s space, instantly feeling a bit more confident, ”This time our family will be perfectly alive.”

Bai Xiqin smiled, the gloom on her face disappearing.

”Alright, I’ll go figure out what we should stockpile.”

Bai Yifan, considering himself a man, stood up and walked out.

Having read several gigs worth of apocalyptic novels, Bai Yifan believed if the family prepared beforehand, they would surely survive.

”Okay!”

Bai Xiqin scratched her itchy neck, ending up with a hand full of dirt.

Bai Xiqin: ...

How come she doesn’t remember not showering for so long?

”By the way, Sis!” Bai Yifan stepped out of the bedroom, turned back to ask Bai Xiqin, ”Sis, did you also—fertilizer doesn’t flow outside the family field—by Mom and Dad?”

”I didn’t.” Bai Xiqin flicked her bangs, ”I lived the longest, got tired of living, and finally blew myself up!”

Bai Yifan: ...

”Alright then!” Bai Yifan waved his hand, ”This time, don’t get tired of living, or Dad will definitely beat me!”

”Okay!” Bai Xiqin’s lips curled slightly.

”Seriously, Dad loves garlic so much. I really hate the garlic smell! Wonder if I got smoked by it at that time!”

Bai Yifan murmured as he walked out of the room.

Bai Xiqin listened to Bai Yifan’s mumblings, and as she laughed, tears fell from her eyes.

She casually spoke of their family’s future.

But that scene was etched in her mind for three whole years.

No matter how hard she tries, she can’t forget, it’s vivid in her memory.

Bai Xiqin took a deep breath, comforting herself.

It’s okay, this time, the family will definitely survive the apocalypse.

Bai Xiqin scratched her neck again, another handful of dirt.

Felt itchy all over, every casual scratch resulted in a clump of dirt.

Oh, dear, just a tattered robe and a broken fan, and she’d be another Ji Gong!

She sniffed her arm, a stench greeted her.

Bai Xiqin’s face froze for a second, hurriedly grabbing clean clothes, rushing into the bathroom.
