Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 1489 - 933: The War Begins

For the Sea of Spirit, the entire Nether Prison Sect has been coveting it for a long time.

From several Divine Soul Realm Martial Artists and Foundation Establishment Cultivators to all the disciples, stewards, and families affiliated with the sect, everyone is eyeing the abundant resources of the Sea of Spirit.

In fact, Nether Prison Sect also possesses many spirit vein treasure lands, and the sect’s residence is not much inferior to the Sea of Spirit, but it cannot withstand the enormity of Nether Prison Sect.

Previously, Nether Prison Sect had four Divine Soul Realm Martial Artists, eight Foundation Establishment Cultivators, and over twenty Golden Body Realm Martial Artists. These strong figures forged a powerful Nether Prison Sect, but they also exhausted its resources.

Each of them requires vast resources for cultivation. The more strong figures, the more resources are needed.

The world only knows that there are many strong figures within the Nether Prison Sect, but they do not know that there are numerous internal conflicts due to resource allocation.

To acquire more resources and to resolve the internal conflicts within the sect, the higher-ups of Nether Prison Sect had no choice but to take the path of expansion.

Over the past century, the Nether Prison Sect has annexed many surrounding forces, and its influence has extended to the Southern Wilderness, yet still it cannot satisfy the resource needs of the Nether Prison Sect.

Thus, they have set their sights on the Sea of Spirit.

The last war with the Sea of Spirit, although driven by Mo Xuanyu, was primarily because the Nether Prison Sect truly wanted to annex the Sea of Spirit.

Mo Xuanyu’s instigation caused the Nether Prison Sect to launch an attack on the Sea of Spirit prematurely, but Mo Xuanyu’s exposure also brought an end to the war.

This time, the Sea of Spirit suffered a severe setback at the hands of Zhang Mo, resulting in a significant loss of strength, prompting the Nether Prison Sect to seize the opportunity to take over the Sea of Spirit in one fell swoop.

The excuse was ready-made. Although Han Jiangche’s disappearance outraged the top echelons of the Nether Prison Sect, they were more eager to use this to take over the Sea of Spirit.

As for finding Han Jiangche or avenging him, they will do it, but they will not expend too much energy and effort on it.

...

Three days later, the vanguard of Nether Prison Sect arrived under the walls of Wuxiang City.

Upon the city wall, Yang Zhenshan, Jian Changhe, and others gazed at the camp of Nether Prison Sect outside the city.

The temporary setup of Nether Prison Sect’s camp was orderly, with tents arranged seemingly according to some array, and many warning arrays set up around the camp.

Even though Yang Zhenshan did not understand much about Array Dao, he could see many energy nodes operating within it.

The vanguard of Nether Prison Sect consisted of only five thousand men, not many, but their camp covered a vast area, presumably prepared for subsequent troops.

”Can we go out of the city and fight them first?” Jian Changhe asked.

Yang Zhenshan shook his head slightly, ”There’s no need. Engaging them outside the city now will not only fail to repel them but will also expose our strength!”

”Then should we just wait around?” Jian Changhe frowned slightly.

Yang Zhenshan smiled, ”Let’s wait. We must fight a hard battle. Only in this way can we make the Nether Prison Sect retreat knowing it’s difficult!”

In warfare, the best strategy is to attack the opponent’s strategy, next is to attack their alliances, then attack their army, and the least desired option is to attack cities. Attacking cities is a last resort.

At present, the Nether Prison Sect seems aggressive, but in reality, they have already relinquished the initiative.

’The best strategy is to attack the opponent’s strategy, next is to attack their alliances.’ Nether Prison Sect neither used strategy against the Sea of Spirit nor engaged in diplomatic negotiations with Hidden Sword Mountain and the Sea of Spirit.

They went straight for military action, and now Yang Zhenshan intends to force them to attack the city.

Jian Changhe’s eyes flickered, ”I can sense Ming Shuzi’s presence!”

”Ming Shuzi, how strong is this person?” Yang Zhenshan asked.

”He’s decent enough!”

”If the Mountain Master says so, that means this person’s strength is very strong!” Yang Zhenshan said.

Jian Changhe is a peak Foundation Establishment Great Cultivator, and not just any Great Cultivator. He is a Sword Cultivator, holding the foundation accumulated over three thousand years by Hidden Sword Mountain.

No one knows how deep Hidden Sword Mountain’s foundation is, nor how terrifying Jian Changhe’s strength can be.

If Ming Shuzi can be praised as decent by him, it is enough to show that Ming Shuzi’s strength should not be underestimated.

Jian Changhe said, ”Nether Prison Sect still has three Divine Soul Realm Martial Artists!”

Foundation Establishment Cultivators were nothing to him; he was concerned about the Divine Soul Realm powerhouses of Nether Prison Sect.

Yang Zhenshan’s thoughts stirred as he recalled the information about the three Divine Soul Realm powerhouses of Nether Prison Sect.

Originally, Nether Prison Sect had four Divine Soul Realm powerhouses. After Han Jiangche’s disappearance, only three remain.

These three Divine Soul Realm warriors are Wang Henglie, Sheng Youhuang, and Li Xuanxiao, all well-established Divine Soul Realm Martial Artists, with forces surpassing Han Jiangche.

Han Jiangche’s activity in past years was because he was the youngest Divine Soul Realm Martial Artist of Nether Prison Sect.

Faced with these three Divine Soul Realm warriors, it remains unknown how Jian Changhe will respond.

...

Another three days passed, and the central army of Nether Prison Sect finally arrived outside Wuxiang City.

The grand army came majestic and mighty. The murderous aura instantly changed the color of heaven and earth. The once clear sky turned gloomy in the blink of an eye, as if a torrential downpour could arrive at any moment.

This was not a normal weather change, but a weather change brought about by the aura of the warriors. An individual warrior cannot affect the weather, but if there are thousands, ten thousand, or even tens of thousands, so many warriors gather together, each releasing a trace of Qi Mechanism from their bodies. The aura they condense together is extremely terrifying.

The army surged forward, with a terrifying aura that gathered in the heavens and earth like a tangible force, as if a majestic mountain pressed upon the hearts of all in Wuxiang City.
