Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 1486 - 931: Cloud-Piercing Crossbows and Sky-shattering Thunder (Part 2)

Thinking of the Piercing Cloud Crossbow, Yang Zhenshan thought of the Artifact Foundry. There are several Artifact Forges in the Spirit Source Land.

There is one in Jade City, one by Flame Mountain, and another by the Mystic Iron Ore Vein.

The main duty of the Artifact Foundry is to forge spiritual weapons, research spiritual weapon devices, collaborate with the Hundred Crafts Hall to construct various buildings, such as flying carriages, some building materials, and some simple array instruments, all originate from the Artifact Foundry.

The Immortal Cultivation Artifact Workshop in the Spirit Source Land is relatively small in scale, but the Martial Artists’ Artifact Foundry is massive and has formed a complete system.

Yang Zhenshan knew that the Artifact Foundry manufactured many items, including practical good ones, some mostly useless experimental products, and many bizarre little gadgets.

”What about the Sky-shattering Thunder!” Qu Changkong asked again.

”Sky-shattering Thunder? What’s that?”

”It’s this!” Qu Changkong took out a fist-sized iron ball.

Yang Zhenshan took it and looked at it, his expression rather odd.

Isn’t this just a hand grenade?

Of course, it’s not a hand grenade using gunpowder as an explosive, but something similar made with talismanic restriction combined with a conflict of spiritual power attributes as the explosive.

This thing is not unusual. Immortal cultivators also have similar magic artifacts, such as Thunder Bombs and Fire Bombs, which have great power, and some can even threaten Foundation Establishment cultivators.

However, Immortal cultivators rarely use such things because they are costly. Instead of using these, it would be better to use a talisman.

Therefore, such one-time-use magic artifacts are considered rather useless among Immortal cultivators, and aside from Puppet Masters, few people use them.

Puppet Masters use them because puppets cannot use talismans, leaving them with no choice but to opt for this relatively useless option.

As for the Sky-shattering Thunder in his hand, it’s a simplified version of the Fire Bomb with very limited power, far inferior to the Fire Bomb, but its cost should be very low, estimated at just a dozen or so Spirit Stones to make one.

Of course, this cheapness is relative to Spirit Source Land. For some Innate Martial Artists, it’s still relatively expensive.

Throwing out one means losing a dozen or so Spirit Stones, which ordinary Innate Martial Artists probably cannot afford.

”It’s a decent thing; use it if you want!” Yang Zhenshan gave it a fair appraisal.

He thought it was necessary to understand those Artifact Forges in the Spirit Source Land, and perhaps he could give them some pointers to create more interesting weapons.

If a Sky-shattering Thunder similar to a hand grenade can be made, could rocket launchers or missiles be made as well?

Rocket launchers!

Yang Zhenshan pondered.

This thing doesn’t seem impossible to make either.

The explosive effect can be formed by the conflict of spiritual power attributes, and the talismanic restriction can simulate a flame jet. If various talismanic restrictions and arrays are combined, the range and power could definitely rival a missile.

But such a thing doesn’t seem very useful against Immortal cultivators.

Immortal cultivators can fly and escape quickly, making it hard for this thing to hit them.

However, it’s not entirely useless. If its cost is low enough, it could also serve as a weapon for indiscriminate attacks in war.

It does have its uses; it just depends on how to use it!

Yang Zhenshan felt he could offer guidance on the work of the Artifact Foundry.

The Artifact Foundry is not an Immortal Cultivation Artifact Workshop; its Artifact Refiners are all Martial Artists who cannot refine magic artifacts or treasures, but they can forge some special weapons in the manner of casting spiritual weapons.

Weapons such as the Piercing Cloud Crossbow and Sky-shattering Thunder are quite good.

Limited power doesn’t matter; it can be gradually improved and its power increased over time.

...

With everything mostly figured out, Yang Zhenshan followed Jian Changkong to meet Jian Guyun, and he also introduced Ma Qiuyan and Ning Yun to Jian Guyun.

Assisting Jian Guyun in arranging a Guardian Array was also a rare opportunity for Ma Qiuyan and Ning Yun.

They needed the guidance of a famous teacher and needed to accumulate experience in setting up large-scale arrays.

With such a rare opportunity, Yang Zhenshan naturally hoped his two good disciples could learn something from Jian Guyun.

Once everything was arranged, although time seemed tight, everything proceeded smoothly.

Two days later, Martial Artists dispatched from the two sects and eight clans, upon receiving military orders, gathered at Wuxiang City.

The first batch of Martial Artists sent was not large, only less than five thousand people.

However, the two sects and eight clans were actively summoning Martial Artists. After listening to Yang Zhenshan’s words, they faced reality pragmatically without shirking responsibilities or backsliding, and actively prepared for the impending war.

Yet, compared to the Spirit Source Land’s vigor, their efforts were like a child’s play.

Once the war orders were issued, the Spirit Source Land, which had been peaceful for decades, suddenly operated with heightened tension.

Ziwei Tower, Conference Hall.

Yang Chengmao looked at the crowd inside the hall, saying solemnly, ”By order of the ancestor, we must go all out in this battle!”

”The three Yujing Guards have all gone to Wuxiang City, the garrison has taken over Yang Family Town and Wuxiang Sect. Now we only need to provide material support for the three Yujing Guards at Wuxiang City!”

”First thing, how many Spirit Stones can we produce right now?”

Lin Zhan, the new Lord of the Heavenly Market Tower, spoke up, ”The Spirit Stone reserve currently holds 3,400,000 pieces of low-grade Spirit Stones, all of which can be mobilized!”

The previous Lord of the Heavenly Market Tower was Lv Xinghe, who was removed during the Spirit Source Land’s purge, and now Lin Zhan has taken over as the Lord of the Heavenly Market Tower.

Heavenly Market Tower governs livelihood management and economic development in Spirit Source Land, essentially Ziwei Tower’s purse.

Not only does the Spirit Source Land have a Spirit Stone reserve at the Heavenly Market Tower, but all Twelve Floors have their own small treasury, with Tianquan Tower handling commerce, its Spirit Stone reserve even surpassing that of the Heavenly Market Tower.

Lin Zhan saying 3,400,000 Spirit Stones can be fully mobilized represents that the Heavenly Market Tower has already reserved enough Spirit Stones for short-term needs.

”Good, immediately hand all these Spirit Stones over to Tianquan Tower, I need Tianquan Tower to swiftly purchase enough supplies!”

”Master Jiang, is there any problem?”

Yang Chengmao looked at Jiang He to ask.

”No problem, the Tianquan Tower will fully cooperate!” Jiang He responded.

Yang Chengmao then looked toward Yang Mingcheng, ”Uncle, we need a large amount of elixirs and equipment. Detoxification, healing, recovery, and other such elixirs, the more the better! Does the Pill Hall have enough elixir reserves?”

Yang Mingcheng maintained a calm expression and said, ”The elixirs reserved by the Pill Hall are enough to provide thirty pills for each soldier of the Yujing Guards, with a full range of types and top-notch quality, ready for immediate mobilization!”

”That’s good, what about the equipment? The Yujing Guards have submitted applications for more Piercing Cloud Crossbows and Sky-shattering Thunders!”

Yang Mingcheng’s expression turned slightly serious, ”Piercing Cloud Crossbows and Sky-shattering Thunders are only kept as regular reserves, the Artifact Foundry does not have a lot in storage. If we want more, they need to be manufactured on demand!”

”Then manufacture them on demand!” Yang Chengmao said emphatically.

Even though Yang Mingcheng is his uncle, he still acted assertively at this moment.

Yang Mingcheng pondered slightly, ”The Artifact Foundry needs a lot of manpower, can the Phecda Tower provide a batch of apprentices?”

The Phecda Tower is responsible for education in the Spirit Source Land, overseeing hundreds of schools, including schools specifically for training Artifact Refiners.

Although there are enough Artifact Refiners at the Artifact Foundry now, to mass-produce Piercing Cloud Crossbows and Sky-shattering Thunders in a short time, more apprentices are needed as support.

Yu Tonghai said, ”Sure, the Artifact Refining School should be able to pull over a thousand disciples to help!”

Yang Chengmao said, ”Hmm, for materials, go to Tianquan Tower; for manpower, go to Phecda Tower. According to the Martial Hall’s prediction, this battle might drag into a long-term war, we need to prepare for long-term warfare!”

”Besides these, there’s one more thing!”

”Form a backup team for the Yujing Guards, expand the three Yujing Guards, according to the Martial Hall’s requirements, the three Yujing Guards will expand to 15,000 people, with Tianliang Tower responsible for soldier recruitment and training matters!”

Wu Zhan stood up to accept the command, ”Tianliang Tower will start recruitment as quickly as possible!”

Tianliang Tower oversees the garrison, responsible for maintaining order in the Spirit Source Land, but it is essentially the Ministry of War in the Spirit Source Land, managing the selection of military officers, military registration, military equipment, military administration, and so on.

As Yang Chengmao’s orders were conveyed, the entire Spirit Source Land began operating like a war machine.

Recruiting, training new soldiers, manufacturing military equipment, purchasing and transporting supplies, and so forth.

As the Spirit Source Land mobilized, the entire western part of the Yunxiao Mountain Range was affected, with Qingli Immortal City being the most impacted among them.
