Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 1485 - 931: Cloud-piercing Crossbow and Sky-shattering Thunder

”Mountain Master, Chief! This is the strategy for the three auxiliary armies!”

The outcome of the discussion was quickly compiled into a booklet, presented in front of Jian Changhe and Yang Zhenshan.

In fact, the two had been listening all along and did not need to look at the booklet passed to them.

”Mountain Master, do you have any suggestions?” Yang Zhenshan looked at Jian Changhe.

At this moment, Jian Changhe was a bit dazed; he listened to the discussion, feeling somewhat inexplicable. But looking at the booklet handed over, he felt a sense of bewilderment.

”Uh, you can make the decision.” Jian Changhe felt a bit confused.

Yang Zhenshan didn’t mind, nodding slightly, ”Since it’s been decided, then pass the order down!”

”Yes!”

Qu Changkong responded, and then told Yang Qinwu beside him: ”Go to the clerk’s room, draft the military orders, and convey them to all sides.”

Yang Qinwu promptly took the booklet and walked out of the main hall to the newly established clerk’s room in the side hall.

There were already more than ten clerks waiting in the clerk’s room.

In just a short while, ten military orders were drafted into books, and ten squads were dispatched to send the orders to two sects and eight families.

With the auxiliary army strategy drafted, Qu Changkong again discussed logistics, troop deployment, battle plans, and other matters.

They both discussed and confirmed each item, then reported to Yang Zhenshan for approval. After obtaining Yang Zhenshan’s consent, they immediately had the clerk’s room draft military orders to convey.

What was originally a mess was thus gradually sorted out.

Jian Changhe and Yang Zhenshan sat aside, sipping tea, looking surprised.

”You look very much like a royal court!” Jian Changhe thought for a moment and finally realized what seemed off.

As the saying goes, expertise makes a specialty; sect forces have sect specialties, dynasties have dynastic advantages.

Yang Zhenshan nodded slightly, ”Indeed, this is done according to the model of court deliberation!”

Warfare and battles are naturally familiar to Yang Zhenshan.

The Yang family rose through the military, and even though they have long detached from the dynasty and become an immortal cultivation family, many of the Yang family’s traditions haven’t changed.

The Jade Capital’s Three Guards still train according to military standards, Taiwei Tower Martial Hall maintains a staff attribute akin to a military advisory board, and the Secret Martial Guards execute terrain surveys as their basic task.

Inside Tianshu Tower is the most detailed map of Yunxiao Mountain Range’s western area, spanning from Nether Prison Sect to Sea of Spirit and Wanlin Mountain Range, compiling the territories of the western three great dynasties and the northern Qingli Dynasty.

Except for Yunxiao Mountain Range’s depths and the core areas of major forces, the Secret Martial Guards have thoroughly understood the terrains, distributions, and forces within the perimeter of ten thousand miles.

One might say, Spirit Source Land’s understanding of Yunxiao Mountain Range’s western area far surpasses the Hidden Sword Mountain, which has operated here for more than three thousand years.

These are the fine traditions of Spirit Source Land.

”Chief, there are still two matters that need your decision!” Qu Changkong said.

”What matters?”

”The first matter concerns the deployment of arrays within the city!”

Yang Zhenshan, hearing the words, looked at Jian Changhe.

Even though Spirit Source Land has Ma Qiuyan and Ning Yun, two second-order Array Masters, their skills in Array Dao are only average; while they can manage the Taiyin Cold Spring Array, they lack in other arrays.

Jian Changhe said, ”Elder Gu Yun is a master in Array Dao, this matter can be entrusted to him!”

Sure enough, Hidden Sword Mountain boasts high expertise in arrays, and Jian Guyun can be recognized as a master in Array Dao, as he is at least a top-notch second-order Array Master.

”Then I’ll trouble Elder Gu Yun; I’ll also arrange people to assist him, striving to complete the array setup as soon as possible!”

Yang Zhenshan looked at Qu Changkong and asked, ”What are your requirements for the arrays?”

Qu Changkong replied, ”No special requirements, as long as it has certain protective capabilities!”

Setting up a protective great array is challenging, especially for a city. Normally, it requires at least three to five months but now they only have less than half a month, so they can only do their best.

”Alright, any other matters?”

Qu Changkong hesitated and said, ”Should we utilize the Cloud-Piercing Crossbow?”

Yang Zhenshan was startled, ”Cloud-Piercing Crossbow!”

He thought and finally recalled what the Cloud-Piercing Crossbow was.

The Cloud-Piercing Crossbow, a large-scale crossbow, referred to the waterborne crossbows manufactured on reference as spiritual weapon-level machinery. This is indeed a true war instrument.

It seems long ago, about twenty years back, he received reports about the Cloud-Piercing Crossbow, but being a hands-off shopkeeper, he never paid attention to it.

”Has the Cloud-Piercing Crossbow been mass-produced?” Yang Zhenshan asked.

”Yes, but the number is not large, only three hundred units!” Qu Changkong said.

The Cloud-Piercing Crossbow is considered Spirit Source Land’s most crucial martial equipment, developed by numerous craftsmen over several decades into a spiritual weapon-level apparatus.

This has always been the secret weapon of the Jade Capital’s Three Guards, rarely having the chance to engage in large-scale wars, so Qu Changkong wants to try its power.

However, this instrument’s lethality is significant, and without Yang Zhenshan’s consent, they dared not decide on their own.

Yang Zhenshan was unconcerned about these matters, ”Since it’s made, let’s give it a try!”

He was also curious about the Cloud-Piercing Crossbow’s power.

Spiritual weapon-level crossbows should be quite formidable!
