Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 1474 - 925: A Word of Warning—What Should and Should Not Be Done!

As for the third reason, it is that he has not truly viewed the Yang family as a subsidiary of Hidden Sword Mountain. The composition of the Yang family is too complex, with many secrets hidden behind them, and these secrets are elusive and unclear to him. Therefore, he is both wary of and intends to win over the Yang family.

Before fully understanding the Yang family’s background, he wants to avoid conflict with them as much as possible.

...

A simple meeting concluded with Hidden Sword Mountain becoming the controller of the Sea of Spirit.

However, for Hidden Sword Mountain to completely control the Sea of Spirit, many things have to be done subsequently. Yet the most urgent matter is to deal with the threat from the Nether Prison Sect, so other issues have to be put aside for now.

Yang Zhenshan talked with Su Zheng about taking over Wuxiang Sect and Wuxiang City. Su Zheng did not resist and readily agreed to Yang Zhenshan’s request.

In fact, for Xuanqing Sect, Wuxiang Sect and Wuxiang City are hot potatoes, and they would be glad to toss these hot potatoes away as soon as possible.

Since the Yang family is willing to take over, they naturally hope the Yang family does so quickly.

After leaving Xuanqing Sect, Yang Zhenshan immediately returned to the Spirit Source Land.

The first floor of Ziwei Tower, inside the council hall.

Yang Chengmao sat in the main seat, his expression calm as he watched the continuously arguing assembly members.

Today’s agenda was simple, the matter concerning the establishment of the new city, Changqing City.

In the sky, White Jade City, Twelve Floors and Five Cities.

Currently, Spirit Source Land only has the city of Jade Capital, with the other four cities being still unestablished.

Previously, due to insufficient population, there was no rush to build new cities.

But now the population of Spirit Source Land has grown to 500,000, and although still not enough to satisfy two large cities, that doesn’t hinder putting city construction on the agenda. After all, building a new city is not a one-day task, it takes at least a decade to complete.

Therefore, Yang Chengmao decided to prepare for the construction of Changqing City first, dispatching a group of personnel to the selected location for basic construction.

The future of Changqing City needs no elaboration. As the true second major city of Spirit Source Land, its future may not surpass Jade Capital, but it will be a center of power within Spirit Source Land.

The first batch sent for basic construction will inevitably become the authority of Changqing City, representing its future power and interests.

Today’s council dispute was about who should be responsible for this matter and which people should be dispatched to build the future Changqing City.

”The Hundred Crafts Hall can take charge of this matter, but it shouldn’t be solely responsible. Also, a group of new talents should be recruited!”

”Why recruit newcomers? Are there not enough people in the Hundred Crafts Hall?”

”Even if there were a shortage of personnel, we should borrow manpower from other departments of Shaking Light Tower instead of recruiting newcomers!”

”The garrison should also be dispatched to handle security matters, as the area is wilderness with many mutant beasts!”

”If the garrison goes, shouldn’t people from Kaiyang Tower also be arranged to oversee?”

”I think the first ones to go should be the various halls of Shaking Light Tower, considering the thousand miles distance between Changqing City and Jade Capital, material issues should be prioritized!”

Everyone was at odds, voicing their opinions.

Some views were quite reasonable, while others were entirely based on self-interest.

Good and bad mixed together, who knew who was right or wrong, who acted publicly, and who privately.

Such situations have appeared countless times in the council hall; Yang Chengmao’s patience was nearly worn out by them.

”Enough!”

Yang Chengmao suddenly stood up, coldly gazing at the people in the hall.

”Have you argued enough yet?”

The expressions of those present froze, and the atmosphere in the hall suddenly quieted. All eyes fell on Yang Chengmao.

”City Lord, it’s not us~~” Zhang Shunyi said.

”Did I allow you to speak!” Yang Chengmao’s eyes glinted with cold light, staring at him coldly.

Zhang Shunyi’s face turned red, tinged with embarrassment and annoyance, ”The City Lord can’t stop people from speaking!”

Yang Chengmao sneered, then looked at the others.

”Ahem, City Lord, let’s continue discussing the affairs!” Lv Xinghe, with white hair and beard, lightly coughed and said.

The current council hall is no longer the former Clan Council, most of the members of the Sect Leader Council back then were old friends and subordinates of Yang Zhenshan.

However, as everyone’s cultivation improved, the likes of Wang Mingzhe, Ding Qiu, Wu Zhan, Luo Feiyu, and others gradually entered the Martial Hall of Taiwei Tower, becoming elders of the Martial Hall.

Meanwhile, a batch of elders passed away, such as Luo Shang, Zhen Yang Family, Xie Yuan, Han Cheng, Wu Chongshan, and others.

This resulted in nearly all personnel changes in the current council hall, with only a few elders remaining.

As for Zhang Shunyi, he is the eldest son of Zhang Yuanwu, who entered the council hall after Zhang Yuanwu’s death.

Nowadays, Lv Xinghe is considered one of the oldest veterans in the council hall.

Yang Chengmao gave Lv Xinghe a deep look, ”Elder Lv, are you managing how I do things?”

Lv Xinghe was stunned, then replied with an awkward laugh: ”No, not at all!”

In his heart, he felt a twinge, as a sense of foreboding arose.

Seeing him like this, Yang Chengmao grinned, ”Perhaps this City Lord’s past actions were too mild, making some people feel they can stand above me and give commands!”

”Remember this, everyone: never forget!”

”Spirit Source Land belongs to the Yang family, belongs to the ancestors of the Yang family, and not to you!”

”Is it because the Yang family treated each of you so leniently, making you think the Yang family’s spear is not sharp enough!”

Those words left the hall in stunned silence.

Most people have never experienced the sharpness of the Yang family’s spear.

Yet, Yang Chengmao’s words felt as if the edge was right next to them.

”Some things can be ignored by this City Lord; as long as they are not too excessive, I can tolerate them!”

”But there are things that I, Yang family, cannot tolerate!”

”Today serves as a reminder to all of you, what should and should not be done!”

”Someone, order the Martial Hall elders to come!”

Yang Chengmao said coldly.

Soon, the sound of footsteps came from outside the door, and one stern face after another appeared in the hall.

Everyone in the hall stood up, barely daring to breathe.

”Today I would like to trouble the elders to clean up the place, please!”

Yang Chengmao said.

”We heed the City Lord’s decree!” The Martial Hall elders responded.

Purifying Spirit Source Land has been Yang Chengmao’s primary task for some time.

After receiving guidance from Yang Zhenshan, he has been preparing for this and was ready today.

Everything that needed investigation was mostly completed, and all necessary arrangements were in place.

Today is the day of purification.

With Yang Chengmao’s command, the whole Jade Capital entered an unprecedented turmoil.

Three thousand Jade Capital inner guards traversed the streets, beginning to arrest wrongdoers.

From Ziwei Tower to the banks of Spirit River, from the Ascension Hall to other towers and halls, it spread from inside Jade Capital to outside.

Kaiyang Tower.

Hundreds of soldiers arrived outside the tower, surrounding Kaiyang Tower.

The guards inside the tower were all astonished by this sight.

”Who are you?” someone stepped forward to ask.

”By order of the City Lord, apprehending criminals, all unrelated personnel should immediately retreat. Anyone who dares to obstruct will be charged with interfering with military duty!”

Yang Qinhua held up a document, leading over ten soldiers directly into Kaiyang Tower.

The people inside Kaiyang Tower looked at each other, all bewildered.

”What’s going on?” Yang Mingzhao leisurely came down from upstairs, looking equally puzzled at Yang Qinhua and his team.

”Greetings Mr. Si!” Yang Qinhua saluted.

”Er, what’s happening!” Yang Mingzhao asked.

”By the City Lord’s order, we are here to apprehend criminals on the list!” Yang Qinhua handed the document to Yang Mingzhao.

Yang Mingzhao took the document, saying, ”Apprehending criminals in my Kaiyang Tower, what is this nonsense?”

What is Kaiyang Tower?

This used to be the Law Enforcement Hall, meaning Kaiyang Tower is the place responsible for law enforcement in Spirit Source Land.
