Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 212: Chapter 205 Madam is pregnant! _2

These contradictions exist naturally, so how could conflicts not occur?

Therefore, better to contentedly stick with one wife for peace of mind.

”Does the master mean that even without shady affairs in the inner courtyard, it’s still possible to take concubines?” Yu Qingyi read between the lines in Yang Zhenshan’s words.

Yang Zhenshan was taken aback.

He saw that Yu Qingyi’s complexion seemed a bit off.

Damn, she’s angry!

”How could that be? My lady is so considerate, how could I ever think of taking a concubine?”

What else could Yang Zhenshan do? He had to coax his own wife.

He reached out to grab Yu Qingyi’s hand and earnestly said, ”To win a heart is to never part, even till our hairs turn white!”

”In this life, having my lady is enough!”

Yu Qingyi’s cheeks reddened, ”Shameless old man, what nonsense are you talking about!”

...

Yang Zhenshan fell silent.

Was she consoled?

Hmm, my lady is still pretty easy to pacify.

Yang Zhenshan broke into a grin, pulled Yu Qingyi into his arms with a forceful yank, ”My lady, why don’t we do something naughty!”

Now Yu Qingyi blushed even harder, ”Don’t mess around, Qingxia and the others are still watching outside!”

Yang Zhenshan glanced at the two light bulbs standing outside the door, ”Ahem~~”

Qingxia and Red Cloud exchanged glances outside the door, their cheeks also flushing with color.

But these two young ladies were quite understanding.

With a creak, the two closed the door.

”Mm, they’ve gone!”

Yang Zhenshan said with satisfaction.

”It’s daylight now!” Yu Qingyi’s face turned so red it seemed almost like blood would drip.

Yang Zhenshan’s hands were already restless, and just as he was about to engage in some daytime fun, Yu Qingyi’s complexion suddenly changed, she broke free from Yang Zhenshan’s embrace, opened the door, and ran out to retch.

Yang Zhenshan stiffly watched her fleeing back, his face awash with embarrassment.

Why did the lady run away?

As he was still in a daze, Yu Qingyi came back, and he quickly got up to ask, ”What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?”

He was utterly bemused.

Unwell?

What a joke?

Yu Qingyi was a Martial Artist; common colds and fevers and such minor ailments were impossible, and with the nourishment of Spiritual Spring Water every day, getting sick was even less likely.

Yu Qingyi looked somewhat conflicted, with a mix of surprise, hope, and a bit of worry.

”Could I be pregnant?”

Yang Zhenshan was stunned again.

Morning sickness!

Realizing this, Yang Zhenshan immediately responded, ”Qingxia, Qingxia, go get the doctor!”

Medical skill and martial arts are interconnected, if it were injuries like sprains or fractures, both Yang Zhenshan and Yu Qingyi were no less competent than doctors, but when it came to pregnancy, they were at a loss.

So Yang Zhenshan’s first reaction was to seek a doctor.

Qingxia and Red Cloud rushed over in a hurry, ”Master, what happened?”

”The lady might be expecting, go fetch the doctor!” Yang Zhenshan repeated.

Upon hearing this, Qingxia and Red Cloud’s faces immediately beamed with ecstasy.

The lady was expecting!

This was a huge celebration!

These past two years, not to mention them, even Su Kun and Hua Jinqiu were very concerned about this matter.

Without a child, Yu Qingyi had no backing in the Yang family, but with a child, Yu Qingyi could secure her position as the Yang family’s matron.

Naturally, Su Kun and Hua Jinqiu hoped that Yu Qingyi could settle down securely in the Yang family, so they were eager for her to have a child.

”I’ll go fetch Nanny Song!”

Qingxia came back to her senses and hurriedly ran out of the courtyard.

But she quickly returned, dragging Nanny Song with her.

Both nannies by Yu Qingyi’s side were capable people, Nanny Song specialized in medical skills, while another nanny excelled in cooking. However, people in the Yang family seldom fell ill, so Nanny Song had barely had a chance to use her medical skills since she joined the Yang family two years ago.

When Ms. Wang was pregnant, they had invited an external doctor.

It wasn’t that Nanny Song was unwilling to tend to Ms. Wang, but having a nanny arranged by the mother-in-law for her daughter-in-law could easily lead to misunderstandings, especially since Yu Qingyi was a stepmother. So to avoid unnecessary conflict, Yu Qingyi did not have Nanny Song tend to Ms. Wang.

Nanny Song arrived and immediately checked Yu Qingyi’s pulse.

Yu Qingyi looked at Nanny Song with a face full of expectation, but there was also a hint of worry in her eyes.

She was worried that this might be a misunderstanding, leading to a false celebration.

Yang Zhenshan was also full of expectation; he too wanted to have a child of his own.

When he got married, he had hoped to have two children within two years, but two years had passed and there had been none. To say he wasn’t disappointed would be a lie.

Soon, Nanny Song finished reading the pulse and said with a smile brimming across her face, ”Congratulations, my lord and lady, it’s a joyous pulse, a joyous pulse, a joyous pulse!”

Nanny Song was so happy that she said ’joyous pulse’ three times in a row.

Yu Qingyi touched her lower abdomen with one hand, her face breaking into a radiant smile.

”Hahaha, excellent!” Yang Zhenshan couldn’t contain his joy. ”Rewards for everyone, rewards for everyone. Red Cloud, go tell Wu Hai that everyone in the mansion will receive triple their monthly pay this month!”

”Thank you, my lord!” Red Cloud happily bowed in gratitude.

In just a short while, the news of Yu Qingyi’s pregnancy spread throughout the Yang family, and the atmosphere turned jubilant.

The Li family, the Liang Family, Yang Yunyan, and Yang Yunxue heard the news and came to the main courtyard one after another to congratulate Yu Qingyi.

”Grandpa, am I going to have a little uncle soon?”

Yang Qingwan stood beside Yang Zhenshan, stealing glances at Yu Qingyi’s belly and asked in a soft voice.

”Yes, that’s right, you will have a little uncle very soon!” Yang Zhenshan said with a cheerful laugh.

”What’s a little uncle?” Yang Wanting, sitting in Yang Zhenshan’s arms, asked with a puzzled face.

She had an elder uncle, a third uncle, alright, she didn’t even know what an uncle meant.

”A little uncle is your dad’s younger brother!” Yang Zhenshan explained.

”My dad’s younger brother, grandpa, I want a brother too, can we not have a little uncle?” Yang Wanting naively said.

Yang Zhenshan was momentarily speechless.

Children speak their minds without restraint.

Is this something you can simply choose not to have?

Also, if you want a brother, you should go to your dad and mom, telling grandpa is useless.

Yang Zhenshan decided to ignore the little girl.

...

In the following days, Yang Zhenshan was immersed in the joy of soon becoming a father.

Although this wasn’t his first time being a father and he had been a grandfather for several years, this time he was truly looking forward to being a father again.

A genuine, no deception, his own son.

Naturally, the feeling was different.

When he first came to this world, seeing his descendants all around, he was reluctant to accept it.

Now, he was about to have his own child, and only then would his life be truly complete.

Over the past few days, Yang Zhenshan had been carefully looking after Yu Qingyi, but his cautiousness made her feel somewhat uneasy.

”My lord, you should go to the government office!”

”No rush, no rush, there’s nothing urgent anyway, I’ll stay here with you for now!” Yang Zhenshan said as he supported Yu Qingyi for a walk in the courtyard.

Yu Qingyi was somewhat amused and exasperated.

She wasn’t that kind of frail woman who needed someone to support her while walking!

Not to mention that she was just a little over a month pregnant, even seven or eight months in, she could still move briskly.

”My Lord!” Yu Qingyi chided: ”This will make your consort feel extremely uncomfortable.”

She felt very blessed by Yang Zhenshan’s affection, but in her opinion, men should not act like this.

A woman should obey her husband after marriage, she should take care of him, and not have her husband take care of her, let alone let her husband neglect official duties and stay in the backyard to take care of her.

Yang Zhenshan knew what she meant; it wasn’t the first time she had said such a thing in the past two days, but he still wanted to take good care of her.

Concepts differ, as do thoughts and feelings.

Yang Zhenshan certainly didn’t have those ideas of ’three obediences and four virtues’.

Isn’t it right to take care of one’s own wife?

Especially since she is pregnant.

Seeing that Yu Qingyi was genuinely getting upset, Yang Zhenshan said with a hint of grievance: ”Alright then, please be careful! I will go to the office now!”

After speaking, he left the pond side, looking back three steps at a time, with a bit of worry.

Once he was far away, Yu Qingyi could no longer hold back and laughed out loud.

”Giggle, my lord is truly amusing!”

Qingxia, standing beside her, also could not help but laugh out.

The lord asking the lady to be careful, it was just a walk, what was there to be careful about.

Yu Qingyi happily touched her belly, ”My lord really does want to have another child!”

Before, Yang Zhenshan seemed not to care much, and Yu Qingyi felt aggrieved inside, after all, she truly needed a child by her side.

Now, seeing Yang Zhenshan’s demeanor, that bit of grievance in her heart had long dissipated, leaving only full-hearted happiness.
