Divine Level Witch Doctor

The man reaching for Zhao Ling flinched at Zhao Yuan’s roar, his whole body trembling. He whipped his head around, glared at Zhao Yuan, and snarled, ”Who the fuck are you? Trying to play hero and stick your nose in other people’s business? Believe it or not, I’ll knock all your damn teeth out!”

Zhao Yuan didn’t engage in a war of words, instead striding toward his parents and younger sister, who were cornered in the hospital room.

Someone tried to block his path, but the moment they moved, a single sharp glare from him sent them retreating, trembling, too afraid to advance.

At that moment, Zhao Yuan was like an enraged tiger, his entire being radiating a dangerous aura. Forget these thugs, who were nothing more than bullies preying on the weak and fearing the strong—even a powerful Martial Artist would be cowed by the sheer force of his presence.

Huang Jie stared at Zhao Yuan in astonishment.

He knew Zhao Yuan was the big boss of the Witch Medical Factory, but he had never imagined that this young man could unleash such a powerful and overwhelming presence!

He had encountered a presence like this once before, back in the army. But that man had been the elite of the elite, a true king among soldiers!

Huang Jie couldn’t wrap his head around it. ’How could a young college student possibly possess such a terrifying presence?!’

After a brief moment of shock, he quickly followed, placing himself between Zhao Yuan and the group of scammers.

Huang Jie wasn’t doing this to protect Zhao Yuan. He knew full well that for someone with such a terrifying presence, taking care of this pack of thugs would be child’s play. He was afraid that Zhao Yuan, in a fit of rage, might do something extreme. If someone were to die, even by accident, the situation would escalate into something much bigger.

Zhao Yuan ignored everyone else, walking straight up to his parents and younger sister. ”Mom, Dad, Sis,” he said softly, ”I’m sorry I’m late. But I’m here now, and no one will dare bully you again!” With that, he turned and swept his gaze over the gang of scammers.

A chill ran down the spine of every person his gaze touched.

But things had already gone this far; they couldn’t just back down. One of them immediately piped up, ”Kid, stop spouting nonsense! Who’s bullying them? It was that old bastard who injured my brother! We’re asking for medical fees, nutritional supplements, and compensation for lost wages. It’s completely reasonable! Even if the emperor himself came down, right would still be on our side…”

Before the man could finish speaking, Zhao Yuan swung his hand and a heavy slap landed squarely on his face. The dull SMACK made everyone’s heart jump.

The force of the blow sent blood gushing from the man’s mouth, his face swelling up like a pig’s head as he shrieked in pain.

The gang of scammers erupted, roaring as they moved to swarm him. Huang Jie immediately dropped into a fighting stance; though he had been in the motor pool, his combat skills were still solid.

”Everyone, stop!” a burly man with a scar on his face barked.

The scammers immediately halted, all turning to look at him.

One of them said resentfully, ”Boss, that kid laid a hand on our guy! We have to teach him a lesson!”

Scarface slapped the man directly across the face. ”I’m the one in charge here,” he said coldly. ”It’s not your place to tell me what to do!”

The man clutched his face, not daring to utter another word.

Scarface walked up to Zhao Yuan, his cold eyes locking onto him. ”Kid,” he demanded, ”you hit my man. You’re going to have to give me an explanation for that, aren’t you?”

”He was foul-mouthed and disrespectful,” Zhao Yuan answered. ”He deserved to be hit.”

’That guy dared to call his dad an ”old bastard.” What was that, if not asking for a beating?’

”So I should thank you for teaching my subordinate a lesson, is that it?” Scarface said with a smile that didn’t reach his eyes. ”Even if he was disrespectful and deserved it, you beat him into this state. Don’t you think you should offer some sort of compensation?”

At this, his expression instantly darkened. His voice shot up as he snarled, ”Twenty thousand for medical expenses, plus the hundred thousand for the man in the bed. That’s a total of one hundred twenty thousand. If your family can’t come up with the money today, don’t blame us for taking matters into our own hands!”

”This is extortion!” Zhao Ling retorted, her anger boiling over. ”That man only took one slap, how could that possibly cost twenty thousand in medical fees? And the one in the bed is obviously faking it! The doctors already said all his test results are normal. There’s nothing wrong with him! This is extortion and blackmail! Mom, Dad, Brother, let’s just call the police!”

Scarface sneered. ”Well, well, what a feisty little thing you are. You want to call the police? Go right ahead! But if we don’t get our money today, we’ll start waiting for you outside the county high school. Every. Single. Day. Let’s see if you can have a cop protecting you around the clock!”

Zhao Ling couldn’t help but tremble at his threat.

Having made his point, Scarface didn’t press the threat further. He turned and pointed to his companion whose face was swollen from Zhao Yuan’s slap. ”You think his face is just swollen? Let me tell you, his injuries are far worse than that! That slap from your brother made him go deaf in one ear. Doesn’t treating deafness cost money? We’re only asking for twenty thousand. We’re being generous!”

This was obviously utter nonsense. While the man’s face was swollen and bleeding from Zhao Yuan’s slap, there was absolutely nothing wrong with his ear. But upon hearing his boss’s words, the man immediately started acting deaf, shouting, ”What are you all saying? Why can’t I hear anything? I’m not deaf, am I?”

His acting was laughably over the top.

Zhao Yuan let out a cold laugh. ”One hundred and twenty thousand, you said? No problem.”

Hearing this, his parents were stunned. ”Yuan, where would you get that much money?” they asked in astonishment.

”Mom, Dad, I’ll explain later,” Zhao Yuan replied. He then turned back to the scammers. ”However, I’ll need to see for myself if these two are actually injured.”

A greedy glint appeared in Scarface’s eyes. ”It’s good you have the money!” he said with a grin. ”But I’m afraid an ordinary hospital won’t be able to diagnose my brothers’ injuries...”

Before he could finish, Zhao Yuan cut him off. ”That’s fine. I’m a medical student. I’ll examine them myself. I’ll know soon enough if they’re really injured.”

’So, one is deaf and the other is paralyzed, is that it?’

’Since you’re all so eager to be sick, I’ll be happy to oblige!’

Scarface frowned. ”Kid, are you trying to play games with us? What if you just deny it and say my brothers aren’t injured? What then?”

’You’re a professional extortionist, and you’re worried about me playing games?’

Zhao Yuan laughed coldly to himself, but he said aloud, ”There are so many of you here. If I tried to pull a fast one, would I be able to walk out of here?”

Scarface considered this and figured it made sense. He nodded. ”Alright, check them. But my two brothers... their injuries are very real, and very serious!”
