Divine Level Witch Doctor

With the roar of a tiger, Zhao Yuan’s Oral Skill performance reached its climax.

The enraged shouts of men, the long neighs of horses, the frantic barks of dogs, and the tiger’s own ferocious roar... All these sounds wove together. Combined with the twang of bowstrings, the whistle of arrows, and the clash of slashing blades and piercing swords, the performance instantly conjured a scene of ancient hunters cornering a mighty tiger!

Though they were only listening, a series of heart-pounding images had already surfaced in their minds. The audience sat bolt upright, hands gripping their armrests, as if they were right there with the hunters, closing in on the great tiger. It was an experience of unparalleled tension and excitement!

A single Oral Skill performance had given them an immersive experience, as if they were watching a VR movie!

Inside the auditorium, though the audience was thrilled and stunned, not a single person dared to make a sound. They were afraid they might disrupt Zhao Yuan’s absolutely brilliant Oral Skill performance.

But the students and faculty watching the livestream on their computers and phones had no such qualms. Deeply shaken by the performance, they used trembling hands to tap out comment after comment, flooding the live video feed.

”I remember studying a text in middle school called ’Oral Skill.’ I always thought the description of the artist’s performance was over-the-top and ridiculous. But now, after hearing Zhao Yuan’s performance, I finally realize it wasn’t Lin Sihuan’s writing that was absurd—it was my own ignorance!”

”This Oral Skill is divine! When I close my eyes, I feel like I’ve become one of the hunters on horseback, drawing my bow with my companions to take down that tiger!”

”Damn it, why is it that when I close my eyes, I’m imagining myself as the tiger being ganged up on by all of you?”

”Hahaha, that’s because you’re a masochist! Congratulations, you’ve just opened the door to a whole new world!”

Finally, after a heart-pounding battle, the tiger let out a few mournful cries before collapsing in a pool of blood. The victorious hunters roared and cheered. Their hounds bounded around them, yelping with excitement as they vied for praise and affection.

Then, the hunters cleared the battlefield, hoisting the slain tiger to be carried away.

As they moved into the distance, the sounds faded, until finally, the scene returned to the initial quiet. Nothing remained but the chirping of insects and the calls of birds.

Zhao Yuan’s Oral Skill performance should have ended there.

But at this very moment, something completely unexpected happened.

A flock of birds, appearing from nowhere, flew into the auditorium. They flew directly to the stage, circled around Zhao Yuan, and began to sing in unison.

For a moment, real and imitated birdsong mingled, making it impossible to tell which sounds came from Zhao Yuan and which came from the birds themselves.

Forget the people in the audience; even the birds couldn’t tell the difference. They treated Zhao Yuan as one of their own, albeit a rather large and unusual-looking one. Some birds circled over his head, while others landed on his body to join him in song.

In that moment, the audience felt as if they were no longer in an auditorium but in a mountain forest, listening to the birds’ chorus. It felt as if their very souls were being cleansed!

Even more so than the regular audience members, the musicians and dancers in the front rows were so shocked that they all rose to their feet.

”Years ago, at the Warsaw International Acrobatics Competition, the Oral Skill master Sun Tai performed his brilliant ’Single Bird’s Cry.’ He attracted real birds to sing in chorus with him, stunning the entire venue. He didn’t just leave a crowd of foreigners dumbfounded; he took first place with that act! I never imagined that today, at a medical university’s gala, I would witness this legendary scene with my own eyes!”

”How can a student like this be studying medicine? What a waste! He should be studying Oral Skill, or magic!”

”Master Chen is right. I was thinking the same thing. If this student switched to Oral Skill or magic, he would astound the world and become a true master of his generation!”

Hearing the comments from the musicians and dancers, Ma Guotao and the other leaders of West Hua Medical University were instantly annoyed.

’What the hell do you people think you’re doing?’ Ma Guotao fumed internally. ’It’s one thing to come here and watch our show, but now you want to poach our talent? There’s no such thing as a free lunch!’

Ma Guotao immediately spoke up, his tone stern. ”Distinguished artists, Zhao Yuan’s Oral Skill and magic are merely his hobbies. His accomplishments in the medical field are immeasurably greater than this! In my view, it would be the greatest waste of all for him to abandon medicine for the arts. This discussion ends now. If I ever hear any of you trying to poach my student again, don’t blame me for turning hostile and adding you to this university’s persona non grata list!”

’Are you kidding me?’ he thought. ’Zhao Yuan is the disciple of the Great God of Witch Doctor. His medical skills single-handedly defeated the Jinling Zhao Family, a venerable Noble Family of medicine! A person like him is destined to leave a brilliant mark on medical history. If he got poached for the arts, I, Ma Guotao, wouldn’t just die from anger—I’d be cursed to death by my peers and seniors in the medical world and condemned by future generations!’

How could Ma Guotao allow such a thing to happen?

At this point, Huang Shijia spoke up. Shaking his head, he said to his colleagues, ”You all should just give up on the idea of poaching him. Zhang Liping and I already tried, and we received a very firm refusal from Zhao Yuan. He told us himself that he’s only interested in studying medicine. All of this is just a hobby to him!”

The musicians and dancers were left speechless. After a long pause, one of them finally exclaimed, ”Just a hobby? And he can reach this level? That kid... he’s a goddamn genius!”

On the stage, Zhao Yuan’s performance finally ended.

He bowed to the birds that had flown in to join his chorus, thanking them for their participation.

Then, an astonishing scene unfolded.

The birds actually mimicked Zhao Yuan, each raising one wing and slightly lowering its head, striking a bowing pose.

The audience stared, dumbfounded. People rubbed their eyes, unable to believe what they were seeing.

With a wave of Zhao Yuan’s hand, the birds all flew away. After bowing to the crowd, he left the stage.

”That performance was amazing!”

”That was truly spectacular!”

”Zhao Yuan, you’re my idol!”

As soon as he got backstage, Zhao Yuan was immediately surrounded by a crowd.

”Thank you, everyone. You’re too kind!” Zhao Yuan said with a smile, clasping his hands in a gesture of thanks. He then turned to the students who were performing next and offered them words of encouragement.

Inspired by Zhao Yuan’s brilliant performance, the students in the following acts shed their nervousness and took the stage with confidence. Although their skill couldn’t compare to Zhao Yuan’s spectacular magic and Oral Skill, they performed far better than they had during rehearsals. Seeing their acts, Han Ping and his friends finally stopped their snide remarks.

For one, the acts were quite high-level for amateurs. For another, they were afraid of eating their words again...

Zhao Yuan didn’t stay backstage for long. He went straight to the lawn, wanting to put Li Shizhen’s bronze statue back.

However, after arriving there, he discovered that the situation was not as simple as he had thought.
