Divine Level Witch Doctor

The third aunt was stunned. Given her high opinion of herself, her first thought was that they had made a mistake.

This displeased the third aunt greatly. Her face darkened as she turned and shouted at the manager and greeters from Lakefront House, ”I’m right here! Where are you all running off to? Do you have no eyes?”

The manager and greeters from Lakefront House paused, instinctively glancing back at her.

”Hmph.” The third aunt lifted her chin, striking an arrogant pose as she waited for them to apologize.

However, things did not unfold as she expected.

The manager and greeters from Lakefront House merely glanced at her before continuing toward Zhao Yuan.

”What’s going on?”

The third aunt was instantly mortified. She then watched as the manager and greeters from Lakefront House made a beeline for a plainly dressed young man, bowing and fawning over him with the utmost respect.

The manager was heard saying with a beaming smile, ”Mr. Zhao, welcome! Why didn’t you give us a call before coming? We could have sent a car to pick you up.”

”You know me?” Zhao Yuan asked, puzzled. He had just been to Lakefront House yesterday, but he didn’t remember seeing this manager.

”I do, of course I do,” the manager explained with a cheerful laugh. ”After you left yesterday, Mr. Zhao, the boss called all of us employees together for a meeting. He not only showed us your picture but also instructed us that we must receive you with the highest honors whenever you arrive! That’s because you’re our boss’s distinguished guest, and also Lakefront House’s most treasured customer—a Purple Gold Level guest!”

”Oh, so that’s what’s going on.” Zhao Yuan finally understood. Then he asked, ”Hey, wait a minute. Where did Old Hao get a picture of me?”

The manager smiled and explained, ”We have surveillance cameras here. Every guest who comes and goes is captured very clearly.”

Lin Liqiang and the others, who overheard the conversation from the side, were all astonished.

They had been to Lakefront House many times and knew the rules here very well.

Like many establishments, Lakefront House had a membership system. The lowest tier was Silver Member, followed by Gold, Platinum, Diamond, and so on. The highest level of all was Purple Gold!

But members of that level only existed in legend; no one had ever heard of anyone actually attaining it.

People like them were all successful and willing to spend money. Even so, most of them were merely Gold Level members at Lakefront House; some hadn’t even managed to become Silver Members. This was partly because the membership was expensive, but also because the levels here were tied to one’s social status.

No one could have imagined that Zhao Yuan was actually a member of Lakefront House’s highest tier—Purple Gold Level!

”A Purple Gold Member? How is that possible? You must have made a mistake!” the third aunt cried out in disbelief. She herself was only a member of the lowest Silver Level. ’And Zhao Yuan, this poor-looking kid, is actually a Purple Gold Level member? Incredible!’

The manager turned his head and said to the third aunt, ”You must be joking, Ms. Ma. We would never make a mistake about our most honored guest.”

Zhao Yuan, meanwhile, could only smile wryly.

’He truly hadn’t expected Hao Li to give him some kind of Purple Gold Member title. Has that guy gotten so addicted to playing online games in his kitchen that he’s started ”handing out official titles” in the real world, too?’

The enthusiastic manager personally led Zhao Yuan and his group into Lakefront House, guiding them toward a private room.

Xue Wanyun finally found her chance and asked curiously, ”Xiaozhao, do you eat here often?”

Zhao Yuan shook his head and answered honestly, ”I’ve been here twice. The first time, Brother Fang treated me, and the second time was to take care of some business.”

Xue Wanyun looked puzzled. ”Then how did you get a Purple Gold Level membership? As far as I know, only seven have ever been issued, including yours.”

Zhao Yuan replied, ”I don’t know either. Maybe it’s Old Hao’s strange sense of humor.”

Meanwhile, he was thinking to himself, ’Seven, including me? I remember asking Hao Li before, and he said he’d only met a handful of Cultivators. Could it be that this prestigious Purple Gold Level membership was never intended for ordinary people, but was reserved for Cultivators?’

”Who’s Old Hao?” Xue Wanyun asked.

Zhao Yuan reined in his wandering thoughts and replied, ”The owner of this place. His full name is Hao Li. He’s a chubby homebody.”

”You really know the owner of Lakefront House?” Xue Wanyun looked astonished.

The owner of Lakefront House was a legend in Rongcheng City. Everyone knew his cooking was exquisite, but very few had actually tasted it. Even so, no one doubted his culinary prowess, because the chefs he trained produced food with flavors that couldn’t be matched anywhere else!

Zhao Yuan nodded and replied with a smile, ”Yeah, I know him. He’s a pretty interesting guy.”

Xue Wanyun was about to ask another question, but just then, Lin Liqiang called out to the manager leading them, ”This isn’t the way to Tingshui Pavilion, is it?”

He had booked Tingshui Pavilion for Lin Xue’s birthday banquet, the best room a Gold Level member could reserve. He had been there a few times before. The place was decorated with classical charm, and its lakeside location allowed one to hear the sound of babbling water, creating a very refined atmosphere. But this wasn’t the way to Tingshui Pavilion.

The manager turned back and replied with a gentle smile, ”Mr. Lin, you did book Tingshui Pavilion, but because Mr. Zhao is with you, we’ve taken the liberty of upgrading you to Lingyun Pavilion.”

”What? Lingyun Pavilion?” Lin Liqiang cried out, completely shocked.

A relative from the Lin Family who didn’t understand the situation quickly asked, ”What’s wrong? Is that place no good?”

”It’s not that it’s no good, it’s that it’s too good!”

The one who said this wasn’t Lin Liqiang, but the third aunt, who had been putting on airs and looking down on Zhao Yuan earlier.

Her face was filled with anticipation. ”At Lakefront House, the quality of the private dining rooms is tied to your membership level. Lingyun Pavilion is the very best one, a place only Purple Gold Level members are qualified to use. Since there are so few Purple Gold Level members, no one knows what it’s even like inside. But just being able to go to Lingyun Pavilion is a symbol of status! I can’t believe I actually have the chance to eat there. I’m definitely going to take a bunch of pictures to post on my social media later and make all my friends die of envy!”

”Rest assured,” the manager said with a smile. ”Lingyun Pavilion is practically a fairyland! I hear it’s Miss Lin Xue’s birthday today? I guarantee this will be a birthday banquet you will never forget!”

Lin Xue smiled gracefully, looked at Zhao Yuan with deep affection, and said softly, ”It’s already unforgettable!”
