Divine Level Witch Doctor

”It’s that guy named Zhao Yuan! The Chinese kid who made me lose all face!” Kobayashi Haruo said, grinding his teeth. His usually placid expression was now utterly ferocious.

Since being defeated by Zhao Yuan and scurrying back to Japan in disgrace, he had been forced to comply with Zhao Yuan’s demands to publish apologies in influential newspapers and media outlets. This had instantly stripped away the prestige and reputation he had spent years building. He went from being the adored glory of Japan to the reviled shame of Japan!

At the same time, he also had to donate his entire life’s savings to Project Hope, going from a rich man to dirt poor in an instant.

Besides the losses to his reputation and finances, he also discovered in despair that he, who was once capable of performing several times a night, had become an impotent wreck!

Under this series of blows, Kobayashi Haruo had nearly broken down and committed suicide. If not for his master and fellow disciples stopping him, he would have likely joined the ranks of Japan’s suicide army by now.

During this time, Kobayashi Haruo had been staying at his senior apprentice-brother’s home. The deep voice that had just spoken belonged to that very senior apprentice-brother, Kawashima Haruhiro.

”Oh? So he’s the one who exposed your lies?”

Kawashima Haruhiro was over fifty, but he was physically robust, with dark hair and sharp, spirited eyes, making him look as if he were only in his thirties.

”Th-… Yes.” Kobayashi Haruo lowered his head to the tatami mat, looking like he was sincerely admitting his mistake.

Kawashima Haruhiro snorted coldly and admonished him, ”Hmph. I told you long ago to focus on honing your medical skills, not to engage in such opportunistic tricks. You just wouldn’t listen, insisting on using crooked methods to make a name for yourself. You can’t blame anyone else for being exposed!”

”Your lecture is right.” Kobayashi Haruo didn’t dare talk back, much less refute him, remaining as obedient as a dog.

Kawashima Haruhiro continued, ”This time, you didn’t just disgrace yourself. You disgraced our master, Genji Doju, and even more so, you disgraced our Qu Zhelei School! Do you have any idea how the other Traditional Chinese Medicine Schools have been mocking us these past few days?”

Kobayashi Haruo trembled, muttering over and over, ”I am guilty, I have sinned…”

Kawashima Haruhiro stared at him for a long time, then sighed faintly. ”Enough. Stop acting pitiful. Master said he wouldn’t punish you, so how could I go against his wishes? Ai, Master just spoils you too much, which is why you cause so much trouble. I hope this experience teaches you a lesson. From now on, focus on your medical studies and stop messing with those crooked methods. With Master and us, your apprentice-brothers, around, you’ll have a chance to clear your name after this all blows over.”

”Yes, yes. Thank you, Master. Thank you, Senior Apprentice-Brother. And thank you, all my fellow apprentice-brothers.” Kobayashi Haruo thanked them profusely. Although he had wanted to kill himself before because he couldn’t take the blow, he no longer wanted to die.

As the saying goes: a miserable life is better than a good death.

Kawashima Haruhiro turned his head to look at the television. A female host appeared in the top-left corner, introducing the performance video. The host was very beautiful, but he had no interest in her whatsoever, his gaze fixed on Zhao Yuan in the video.

After a moment, Kawashima Haruhiro asked, ”What did you say this kid’s name was again, and where is he from?”

Kobayashi Haruo quickly replied, ”His name is Zhao Yuan. He’s a first-year student at West Hua Medical University.”

Kawashima Haruhiro snorted coldly. ”A first-year university student exposed and defeated you? How pathetic, pitiful, and laughable!”

Kobayashi Haruo hurriedly explained, ”Senior Apprentice-Brother, please listen to me. Although that kid is only a first-year, his medical skills are far beyond those of an ordinary medical student! As far as I know, just a few days ago, a Chinese Noble Family of medicine, the Jinling Zhao Family, was also defeated by him.”

”The Jinling Zhao Family?” A trace of disdain appeared on Kawashima Haruhiro’s face. ”Just a third-rate medical Noble Family. How skilled could they possibly be?”

How could Kobayashi Haruo dare to say ’no’? He could only agree, ”Yes, yes, yes. The Jinling Zhao Family certainly can’t compare to your Kawashima Family, Senior Apprentice-Brother! You are a first-rate medical Noble Family, not just in our country, but in all of Asia and even the world.”

Kawashima Haruhiro snorted coldly, but a hint of pride and satisfaction showed on his face. He then said, ”In a little while, I’ll be going to China for a medical exchange conference. When the time comes, I will go to West Hua Medical University in Western Shu Province, find this Zhao Yuan, and avenge you!”

Kobayashi Haruo was overjoyed to hear this. He quickly thanked him, but didn’t forget to add a reminder, ”Senior Apprentice-Brother, you must be careful. This kid is quite capable when it comes to medical skills!”

”However capable, there’s a limit.” Kawashima Haruhiro didn’t take Kobayashi Haruo’s words to heart, sneering, ”He’s a medical student who doesn’t focus on his studies, instead running off to play the piano and perform magic tricks and Oral Skill. With so much time wasted on those things, how high could his medical skills possibly be? Just wait in Japan for my good news!”

Kobayashi Haruo knew his senior apprentice-brother was extremely proud, so he didn’t dare try to persuade him further. He flattered him instead, ”Yes, yes, yes. In our country, aside from Master and a few others, no one can match your medical skills, Senior Apprentice-Brother. With you taking action to avenge me, you’re guaranteed to succeed. Teach that kid a harsh lesson and let him know that the essence of Traditional Chinese Medicine is in the hands of us, the Yamato Race!”

”Well said!” Kawashima Haruhiro stood up and declared fiercely, ”The essence of Chinese medical arts is with us, the Yamato Race! We are the true orthodox successors to Chinese civilization!”

Zhao Yuan had no idea that he was now being targeted by Kobayashi Haruo’s senior apprentice-brother.

Meanwhile, the evening gala had come to a perfect conclusion. He, along with Lin Xue, Liu Zhu, Yang Zi, and the others, had gone to a barbecue stall outside the school to celebrate with skewers.

Wave after wave of Wish Power surged into his body.

This was the result of his performance from tonight being spread around.

After they had eaten and drunk their fill, Zhao Yuan and the guys first walked the girls back to their dorms. On his way back, he made a special trip to the lawn, but unexpectedly, even at this late hour, there were still many people waiting there. Helpless, Zhao Yuan could only return to his dorm first.

The next day, Zhao Yuan got up before dawn and quietly went to the lawn.

There was finally no one around. He quickly took out Li Shizhen’s Bronze Statue from his Storage Ring Space and returned it to its original spot.

At eight o’clock, his three brothers also woke up one after another.

There weren’t many classes today. After noon, the New Year’s holiday would begin.

While washing up, Liu Zhu asked Zhao Yuan, ”Third Brother, what are your plans for the New Year’s holiday? If you don’t have anything planned, how about traveling with us? Second Brother and I made plans with Qi Xia and Luo Dan to go have some fun at a snowy mountain.”

Zhao Yuan replied, ”I’ll pass. You guys have fun. I plan on going back to my hometown for the holiday. I’ve been away for a few months and really miss my parents and my little sister.”

His three brothers said in near unison, ”You’re going home? Then say hi to your parents and your sister for us.”

Zhao Yuan smiled and agreed. After washing up, he prepared to go out and buy some gifts to take back for his parents and sister.

His family used to be poor, and his parents and sister had lived a hard life. Now that he had the Witch Doctor’s inheritance and could earn money, he naturally wanted them to live well.

’Maybe I should buy an apartment and bring my parents and sister to Rongcheng City?’ Such a thought suddenly occurred to Zhao Yuan.
