I Married the President

Chapter 686: Chapter 686: How Many Days Has It Been Without Rest?

Claire Sinclair ignored what people were saying online, but she felt increasingly dejected.

’It’s been so many days. Why isn’t he back yet?’

Claire Sinclair picked up her phone and sent him a message: Mr. Quincy.

After waiting for what felt like forever, she finally got a reply: Mmm.

Claire: I...

Adrian Quincy: Miss me?

Claire: ...

Adrian Quincy: I’ll be over later.

Claire: Really???

Adrian Quincy: Mmm.

Claire: Okay, I won’t bother you then!

Claire Sinclair put her phone down, suddenly full of spirit. ’I should do a thorough cleaning before he gets back!’

Having made up her mind, Claire Sinclair rolled up her sleeves, grabbed a mop, and started cleaning the floor...

When the living room door opened, Claire Sinclair instinctively looked up and exclaimed happily, ”You’re here so fast! I haven’t even finished the windows yet.”

She was standing on a chair with her hands pressed against the glass. To reach the higher spots, she had to stand on her tiptoes.

The sight almost made Adrian Quincy’s heart leap out of his chest.

He rushed over, lifted her down, and said with displeasure, ”Claire, that’s dangerous.”

”What’s so dangerous? I was being very careful!” Claire Sinclair muttered.

Adrian Quincy’s cool gaze sharpened as he met her eyes. Seeing she was unrepentant, his tone grew stern. ”Don’t ever do that again. You make me worry.”

Claire Sinclair stuck her tongue out. ”Well, what do you expect? You haven’t been back to see me in ages, and you won’t let me go to work. I’m bored at home with nothing to do.”

Adrian Quincy gently set her down on the sofa, his expression full of remorse. ”Things have been a little hectic lately. I’m sorry.”

Claire Sinclair remembered the news about his car accident from a few days ago and quickly asked, ”Was that car crash for real?”

Adrian Quincy shook his head. ”It was just for show. I’m not hurt.”

”Then what’s the deal with Ariel O’Malley?”

”She’s just a pawn. There’s likely a bigger player behind her that we haven’t lured out yet.”

Claire Sinclair immediately asked, ”Does that mean we have to keep pretending to fight?”

Adrian Quincy stroked her hair, his heart aching for her. ”Claire,” he said softly, ”I’m sorry you have to go through this.”

But Claire took it in stride. ”It’s not hard on me at all. I just want you to resolve all this quickly. The longer it drags on, the more complicated it will get.”

She waited for a long moment, but he didn’t say anything.

Claire Sinclair turned to look at him and saw his eyes were filled with exhaustion. He looked like he hadn’t slept in days, and the sight broke her heart.

”You should get some sleep.”

”Mmm.” Adrian Quincy nodded and then collapsed right onto the sofa.

Claire Sinclair raised an eyebrow. ”You’re going to sleep here?”

The man didn’t respond. He had already fallen asleep!

’Good grief, how many days has it been since he last slept???’

In the blink of an eye, the end of the month arrived. With Lucas Rhodes and Ivy Tanner’s wedding just around the corner, everyone online was watching with bated breath.

Claire Sinclair deliberately chose a cute dress with a full, puffy skirt to hide the slight swell of her stomach. That way, no one would be able to tell she was pregnant.

Checking the time, she saw it was almost time to leave, so she grabbed her clutch and headed out the door.

Outside The Grand Century Hotel, flower arrangements lined the road. A red carpet stretched straight into the hotel lobby, where magnificent crystal chandeliers and stately marble Roman columns transformed the grand hall into a scene from a fairytale.

A few women huddled in a corner, their faces green with envy as they gazed at the meticulously designed decorations in the lobby. They couldn’t help but make a few catty remarks.

”It’s already shocking enough that Fifth Lord Rhodes is marrying an idiot. Now he’s thrown such a gorgeous wedding for her. Doesn’t it feel like a beautiful flower being planted in a pile of cow dung?”

”Fifth Lord Rhodes isn’t the cow dung!”
