I Married the President

Chapter 655: Chapter 655: Not on My Watch

The reporters were stunned by such a bizarre scene!

Third Miss Tanner had agreed? Was she serious???

Lucas Rhodes unhurriedly took a small box from his pocket, then beckoned to Ivy Tanner with his finger.

”Iris, come a little closer.”

”Mhm!”

Ivy Tanner took a step forward and stood before him.

Lucas Rhodes took a diamond ring the size of a pigeon’s egg from the box. He then took her small hand and slid the ring onto her finger.

After placing the ring on her finger, he kissed the back of her hand, then looked up to meet her gaze. ”We’re officially husband and wife now. Come home with me.”

”Er...” Ivy Tanner glanced back reluctantly, muttering, ”Flora... I can’t bear to leave Flora, the flowers Sinclair gave me. They’re over there.”

She pointed in the direction of the back garden.

Lucas Rhodes said, ”At our home, I have a garden where you can plant new flowers. If you want to take these, I can have someone move them for you. Your flowers won’t be harmed.”

Hearing this, Ivy Tanner was skeptical. ”You won’t harm them?”

Lucas Rhodes nodded.

”Then I’ll go home with you.”

”Come on, get in the car with me.” Lucas Rhodes took her hand. Ayla Ryan, in a show of perfect coordination, began pushing his wheelchair, moving slowly toward the minivan waiting outside the gate.

Just as the two were about to reach the vehicle, the loud roar of an engine suddenly echoed from nearby.

Ivy Tanner’s head snapped up. She looked toward the entrance and saw a bright red supercar speeding their way from a distance.

’He’s here!’

’Why is he here?’

Ivy Tanner’s mind was in turmoil. It wasn’t until her hand was suddenly squeezed tight that she looked down at Lucas Rhodes’s face.

Lucas Rhodes shook his head at her, the meaning clear: she needed to stay calm.

Ivy Tanner grinned, putting on a foolish expression as she made a move to get into the car.

Just then, a servant’s shout came from behind them. ”Third Miss Tanner, Young Master Kingsley says to wait!”

Ivy Tanner froze for a moment. She looked back at the servant’s anxious face. ’Ethan Kingsley must have called and told the servant to say that,’ she thought.

’That guy... he’s actually worried about me getting married?’

Heh... How ironic.

Lucas Rhodes watched the girl’s lowered gaze and saw a hint of desolation in her eyes. He felt a pang of sympathy for what she was going through.

’Fine,’ he thought. ’Let these two hash things out. It’ll save trouble later on.’

Ethan Kingsley drove at a breakneck speed, arriving outside the courtyard in an instant. He slammed the car door and rushed toward Ivy Tanner, grabbing her by the shoulders and spinning her around to face him.

Ivy Tanner looked at him, panting, and gave a foolish smile. ”Brother Kingsley, I have a husband now.”

Ethan Kingsley didn’t even spare Lucas Rhodes a glance. He gasped for breath and said, ”His legs are disabled. You can’t marry him.”

”But...” Ivy Tanner’s brow furrowed, her eyes filled with a pitiful charm. ”My husband is more handsome than Brother Kingsley...”

The corners of Lucas Rhodes’s lips curved up slightly, but he remained silent.

Ethan Kingsley said coldly, ”There are plenty of men in the world more handsome than him. You can’t go with him. Come back with me.”

With that, he grabbed her hand and made a move to drag her back.

But Ivy Tanner shook his hand off, pouting. ”I don’t want other men. I only want my husband.” As she spoke, she took a step back to stand beside Lucas Rhodes.

Ethan Kingsley’s cold eyes narrowed. His icy gaze fell upon Lucas Rhodes as he warned in a low voice, ”Lucas Rhodes, I don’t care what your motive is for getting close to Little Cutie, but as long as I’m here, you can forget about it.”

Lucas Rhodes’s lips curled into a faint smile, but his tone was aggressive. ”I was entrusted by Claire Sinclair to marry Third Miss Tanner. Besides, Third Miss Tanner likes me. What right do you have to interfere in her life? Or are you planning to find a man she dislikes and continue hurting her with a new trick?”
