I Married the President

Chapter 660: Chapter 660: Don’t Want Any More Contact With Him

Ethan Kingsley erupted in fury. He wished he could rush over and beat the man to death, roaring, ”You dare try that, and I’ll fucking end you!”

Lucas Rhodes let out a cold laugh. ”Calm down. I won’t force a woman to do something she doesn’t want to. Besides, Ivy Tanner is a friend of Claire Sinclair’s. I’ll do it out of respect for Claire, but I won’t act according to your whims. Ethan Kingsley, don’t hit on my wife again.”

After saying his piece, he hung up the phone.

”Fuck!” Ethan Kingsley cursed, smashing his phone on the ground.

He wanted to go out and beat someone up, but as soon as he stood, he collapsed again, dead drunk.

-

Ivy Tanner wasn’t actually asleep. Her eyes were just closed, and she had heard every word Lucas Rhodes said.

The line, ”Does knocking her up count as forcing her?” had left a deep impression. She could just imagine how frantic Ethan Kingsley must have been, and she found it laughable.

’Ethan Kingsley, after everything that’s happened, what more could he possibly want from me?’

Ivy Tanner slowly opened her eyes and was startled to see a pair of deep eyes staring at her. Her heart leaped into her throat, and she asked urgently, ”Mr. Rhodes, why are you still here?”

Lucas Rhodes pushed his wheelchair back a little, his voice gentle. ”I just wanted to let you know, Ethan Kingsley just called looking for you. I sent him away. If you don’t think that was appropriate, I’ll let you take his calls next time.”

Ivy Tanner immediately said, ”No, no, you were right to send him away. I don’t want to have any more contact with him.”

Lucas Rhodes nodded. ”It’s late. Get some sleep.”

Ivy Tanner furrowed her brow, a hint of distress in her eyes.

”Can’t sleep?” Lucas Rhodes asked with concern.

”Yeah.” It was probably the new environment. Although the villa was beautiful and clean, she just couldn’t sleep soundly.

Lucas Rhodes said, ”Tomorrow, I’ll have someone find some calming scents that might help you sleep. We’ll see if they work for you.”

”Will the scents affect the baby?”

”Rest assured, I know what I’m doing. I won’t use anything that could harm the child.”

”Thank you!”

”Go to sleep. Good night.” Lucas Rhodes pushed his wheelchair, slowly turned, and left, closing the door behind him.

Ivy Tanner let out a soft sigh. ’I shouldn’t overthink things. I should just get some sleep.’

Early the next morning, Ivy Tanner was woken by a racket.

Ivy Tanner reluctantly opened her eyes and turned her head to look. It was a maid, vacuuming the floor.

’What time is it?’

Ivy Tanner said, displeased, ”Who are you? Who let you in?”

The maid shot her a look, her expression sullen as she said rudely, ”The Fifth Master told me to come in and clean. You got a problem with that? Idiot...”

The last word was spoken very softly.

Ivy Tanner heard it but paid it no mind, simply playing dumb. ”Who is The Fifth Master?”

The maid rolled her eyes and said irritably, ”The Fifth Master’s name is Lucas Rhodes.”

”And who is Lucas Rhodes?” Ivy Tanner continued to play dumb.

The maid clearly didn’t want to waste any more time on such an idiot, so she didn’t answer, simply continuing to vacuum the floor.

Ivy Tanner threw back the covers and got out of bed. The maid had already kicked her slippers under the bed, so she walked out barefoot since she couldn’t find them, muttering as if to herself, ”Well then, I’ll just go ask my husband who this Lucas Rhodes is.”

”Hey, you...” The maid tried to go after her, but it was too late.

Lucas Rhodes suddenly appeared at the door.

Ivy Tanner stopped in front of Lucas Rhodes and said with feigned innocence, ”Honey, do you know who Lucas Rhodes is?”

Lucas Rhodes’s brow furrowed slightly. His gaze skipped past her to the maid vacuuming silently behind her. He then said in a low voice, ”My name is Lucas Rhodes. You should remember that.”
