Chapter 682: Chapter 682: Adrian Quincy and Claire Sinclair Suspected of Breaking Up

Claire Sinclair raised an eyebrow and asked him, ”Are we just going to let this sit and allow the rumors to escalate online?”

Adrian Quincy: ”Yeah. Let’s see what she’s trying to do first.”

Claire Sinclair didn’t quite understand, so she asked again, ”What do you mean?”

Adrian Quincy: ”If she’s just trying to take this opportunity to smear you online, that’s meaningless. But if her goal is something other than smearing your name, she’ll make another move. We’ll just play along and see what she’s up to.”

Claire: ’You think of everything...’

’He’s even more of an overthinker than I am, to have considered it to this extent.’

Adrian Quincy: ”You might have to endure this for a bit. Don’t respond to any of it. I won’t be responding either.”

Claire: ”And then?”

Adrian Quincy: ”We wait for her next move.”

Claire: ”Okay.”

’So this tactic is, what’s it called, luring the snake out of its hole?’

Once The Great Demon King Quincy had spoken, Claire Sinclair felt reassured. She completely ignored the vitriol online and even continued to post pictures on Weibo every day.

It was either the flowers she was growing or the brunch she had made... all of which created the impression that she was completely ignoring Mrs. Quincy’s attempts to smear her name.

After four or five days, another topic, as expected, appeared on Weibo.

#AdrianQuincyAndClaireSinclairSuspectedBreakup# — Ever since Young Master Quincy’s mother complained on Weibo that Claire Sinclair hadn’t visited her in the hospital, sharp-eyed netizens noticed that interactions between Claire Sinclair and Adrian Quincy had dropped to virtually zero, fueling rumors that they had already broken up.

Under the topic, there was always a crowd of bored netizens just there for the drama.

[Have they finally broken up?]

[Really? Does that mean I have a chance?]

[It’s good they broke up. I never liked that influencer type like Claire Sinclair anyway. Whoever ends up with Young Master Quincy should be his social equal, don’t you think?]

[Don’t break up! I love you two as a couple!]

[The commenter above is an idiot. If they don’t break up, Claire Sinclair will eventually tank Young Master Quincy’s poll numbers. Just think about how many people online hate her.]

[Exactly. If Young Master Quincy insists on being with Claire Sinclair, I’d rather cast my vote for Ethan Kingsley.]

...

Claire Sinclair, now a connoisseur of the drama she was starring in, lounged lazily on her chaise lounge, phone in hand, occasionally refreshing the comments on Weibo.

Netizens these days were so passionate, more concerned about her relationship status than she, the person actually in the relationship, was.

However...

Even though Claire Sinclair considered herself just an observer, she couldn’t shake a bad feeling, as if something was about to happen.

’Maybe this was a woman’s sixth sense...’

The next day, her fears were realized—

Adrian Quincy had gotten into a sudden car accident while out and had fallen into a coma. He was given emergency treatment by a beautiful ”angel” of a nurse. Someone then dug up the nurse’s identity; it turned out she was Ariel O’Malley, the youngest daughter of the O’Malley Family, one of the most prominent families in Aethelgard.

The incident had happened just an hour ago, yet it had already been pushed to the top of the trending list. No one would believe it got there without a manipulator behind the scenes.

Claire Sinclair wanted to message him to ask about the car accident, but on second thought, she decided against it and called Aiden Howkins instead.

As soon as the call connected, Claire Sinclair asked, ”Aiden, what’s this about a car accident?”

”It’s a setup orchestrated by Young Master Quincy. You don’t need to worry, Young Madam. He’s fine.”

”He sets up a whole scheme and doesn’t even tell me...” Claire Sinclair muttered quietly.

Aiden Howkins consoled her, ”You can’t really blame Young Master Quincy for this. The situation developed suddenly, and he was just turning their own plan against them. Young Madam, please, you must trust him.”

Claire Sinclair breathed a sigh of relief. ”Just make sure you protect Mr. Quincy. I’ll be fine on my end.”

”Understood, Young Madam. I’ll contact you if anything comes up.”

”Okay. I’ll let you get back to it.”

After hanging up, the knot of anxiety in Claire Sinclair’s chest loosened slightly.
