I Married the President

Chapter 666: Chapter 666: The Final Outcome

Adrian Quincy said impassively, ”A billion is a trifle.”

Orion Osborne’s thin lips parted. ”Where did you get that kind of money?”

”From a friend,” Adrian Quincy said.

The words had barely left his mouth when he raised his paddle again, his voice low. ”Seven hundred million.”

The auctioneer cried out, ”Seven hundred million from gentleman number one!”

Orion Osborne followed suit, raising his paddle. ”Seven hundred and fifty million.”

”Gentleman number two bids seven hundred and fifty million!” the auctioneer announced.

Adrian Quincy raised his paddle as well...

In the blink of an eye, the bidding war pushed the price to nine hundred million.

The next benchmark, one billion, would be the limit for these two.

Orion Osborne was the first to act. He raised his paddle, skipping the smaller increments past nine hundred million and calling out, ”One billion.”

The auctioneer was so excited he nearly jumped. ”One billion from gentleman number two! Do I hear any other bids for one billion? One billion—”

Before he could finish, Adrian Quincy calmly raised his paddle, stating impassively, ”Add one hundred million.”

Orion Osborne’s brow furrowed. He turned to look at the enigmatic man and spoke into his hidden microphone, ”Where are you getting 1.1 billion?”

Adrian Quincy’s expression was placid. ”From a friend.”

Orion Osborne was left speechless.

’How did I not know this guy had such magnanimous friends?’

Unfortunately, he had only prepared to go as high as one billion. He didn’t have a cent more.

The auctioneer called out from the stage for what felt like an eternity, his voice nearly raw, before the auction finally came to a close. In the end, the mysterious gentleman from seat number one won the angel known as ”The Kingdom-Toppler” for 1.1 billion.

Adrian Quincy rose gracefully and walked to the iron cage.

As soon as the staff opened the cage, he ducked inside and carefully gathered Claire Sinclair into his arms.

Claire Sinclair smelled his familiar cologne, heard his familiar breathing, felt his heartbeat... everything about him was so familiar it was etched into her very bones. She could have recognized him by scent alone.

’He’s here...’

’Her superhero has finally come!’

’But she couldn’t let him know she recognized him. Not now.’

’She couldn’t...’

Claire Sinclair bit her lip and pretended to fall unconscious in his arms, surrendering to his gentle embrace.

’These past few days have been so tiring. I just want to rest.’

Just as the two of them reached the door, a masked young man suddenly blocked their path. ”Hey, you!”

Adrian Quincy lowered his gaze slightly, his eyes meeting the young man’s, which glinted with a cunning light. ”Move,” he said in a low voice.

This time, he used his real voice.

Theo Rhodes faltered for a second, then put on a swagger. ”When you get tired of her, how about selling her to me second-hand?”

Claire Sinclair was aghast.

’This kid must have a death wish!’

Adrian Quincy’s cold eyes narrowed, and an intimidating chill suddenly radiated from him.

Theo Rhodes flinched and coughed dryly. ”Ahem, well, I won’t disturb you two any longer. I’m going back to bed.”

Adrian Quincy slowly lowered his head, speaking as if to Claire Sinclair, ”I’ll take you to the South District. The air is a little better there.”

Theo Rhodes’s ears twitched. He seemed to understand the hidden meaning behind the words.

He glanced up at the wall clock. It was only 11:55 AM, leaving enough time for a meal before 1:00 PM. ℯℯ𝑙.

’Alright, I’ll go grab a bite first.’

Once inside the room, Adrian Quincy eagerly laid his wife on the bed. He raised a hand to remove his mask, but just as he was about to speak, Claire Sinclair suddenly threw her arms around him.

She was trembling. He could feel her fear and her relief, and it broke his heart.

”I’m sorry, Claire. It took me so long to find you.”

Claire Sinclair clutched his shirt tightly, her voice filled with exhaustion. ”I missed you so much this whole time.”

”Mm,” Adrian Quincy nodded, unable to stop himself from kissing her hair. He savored her return. She was finally back in his world.
