I Married the President

Chapter 684: Chapter 684: The Setup

Claire Sinclair said to the two men, ”What time frame do you need for the surveillance footage? I can make a copy for you.”

One of the plainclothes officers said, a bit unhappily, ”Just show it to us first. If there’s nothing useful, you don’t need to copy it.”

Claire Sinclair furrowed her brow slightly. She knew she had to cooperate with the investigators, but the surveillance room had been secretly built by The Great Demon King Quincy’s people. ’Letting them in so easily might not be a good idea.’

With that thought, she immediately took out her phone and sent a message to Adrian Quincy: Adrian, two investigators are here at the house. They say they want to check my surveillance footage.

A moment later, Adrian Quincy replied: Let them see.

Seeing his reply, Claire Sinclair finally let her guard down and said to the two men, ”Alright, follow me.”

The surveillance room was in the basement. No one usually monitored it, but the house’s alarm system would go off if any incidents occurred.

When the two investigators entered the fully-equipped surveillance room, they both wore expressions of utter astonishment.

’As expected of Young Master Quincy’s woman. This isn’t a security system an ordinary person could afford.’

Claire Sinclair pulled up the surveillance footage for the two investigators to review. It took them a long time to watch it all, and they didn’t find any suspicious individuals in the recordings.

Claire Sinclair walked the two investigators to the door. Before they left, she couldn’t help but ask, ”Captain Lynch, can you tell me whose house was robbed and what was taken? I’d like to take some precautions.”

The two investigators didn’t seem willing to disclose any more details. They just said, ”With your security system, no thief could get into your house. You don’t need to worry.”

After saying that, the two men turned and left together.

Claire Sinclair stood at the door, her eyes narrowed slightly. She felt like something wasn’t quite right, but she couldn’t put her finger on what it was.

Just then, the young man from next door suddenly walked over and asked politely, ”Claire Sinclair, were you just questioned by investigators too?”

Claire Sinclair nodded. ”What happened in the neighborhood?”

”It seems a safe went missing from Villa 5. It had several million in it.”

”I can’t believe a neighborhood this safe would attract thieves...” Claire Sinclair muttered under her breath.

The young man smiled. ”As long as you don’t flaunt your wealth, thieves won’t target us. You don’t have to worry.”

Of course, Claire Sinclair wasn’t worried about that. She couldn’t help but ask him, ”By the way, what do you do for a living?”

”Me?” The young man paused. ”I’m a writer.”

”Pen name?”

”0067.”

0067...

A moment later, the realization hit Claire Sinclair as she thought of a famous figure. Her jaw dropped in astonishment. ”You’re *the* 0067, the one who won an international award for sci-fi novels!”

’Who would have thought? This young guy is a sci-fi author. Who says writers are all bald and pot-bellied? The one right in front of me is a total dreamboat!’

The young man smiled humbly. ”My surname is Carson. Finn Carson.”

”Mr. Carson, it’s a pleasure to meet you.” He was, after all, a celebrated author who had won international acclaim, so Claire Sinclair felt a genuine sense of awe.

The two chatted for a few more minutes before Claire Sinclair remembered she hadn’t even brushed her teeth or washed her face yet. She quickly excused herself and went back inside.

With nothing to do all day, Claire Sinclair decided to go out and hang out with Ivy Tanner.

Once in the car, she habitually pulled out her phone. She logged onto social media, and a gossip headline immediately caught her eye.

’What the heck!’

Below the gossip story were several paparazzi photos. They were of her and Finn Carson chatting at her door that morning. Due to the angle, some of the shots made them look very close and intimate.
