Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 1777: 1777th Chapter: A Heart-Stinging Kick

Bai Ruozhu felt that in a previous life, she must have accumulated great merit to have such understanding and kind-hearted parents.

”Dad, Mom, thank you.” Bai Ruozhu said a bit choked up.

Bai Yihong immediately became worried, ”Daughter, don’t be upset. Dad is not blaming you. I was just too anxious earlier.”

”Yes, we’re family, no need to say thank you. Don’t scare your father.” Lin Ping’er also advised from the side.

It was nothing initially, but with her parents comforting her like this, she lost control of her emotions and suddenly started crying. It wasn’t that she felt particularly wronged, but rather she was moved by the kindness of her parents.

”Oh, daughter, don’t cry. Aren’t you just having a spat with Yichun?” Bai Yihong was at a loss and quickly gestured to Lin Ping’er to give Bai Ruozhu a handkerchief to wipe her tears.

”If Yichun spoke harshly because his mom is seriously ill, don’t take it to heart. Which married couple doesn’t have little arguments?” Bai Yihong continued to advise.

Lin Ping’er also said, ”Your dad is right. Don’t get upset. Think of the two little ones in your belly.”

Bai Ruozhu sniffled and smiled, ”Dad, Mom, really, it’s nothing. I’m just momentarily moved by how good you are to me.”

Lin Ping’er and Bai Yihong couldn’t help but laugh. It’s normal for pregnant women to have mood swings. Didn’t Lin Ping’er also cry without reason when she was expecting?

”Look at you, such a grown-up yet crying and laughing. If Little Dengdeng saw you, wouldn’t he make fun of you?” Bai Yihong teased with a smile.

Bai Ruozhu wiped her tears, ”It’s nothing, as long as he doesn’t see it.”

The three chatted a bit more before Lin Ping’er and Bai Yihong returned to the front courtyard.

”I must go have a chat with my son-in-law.” Bai Yihong said suddenly, standing up and heading towards the door after just sitting down with a cup of tea.

Lin Ping’er quickly called out, ”Speak nicely, don’t harm the peace. In the end, it’s our daughter who will suffer.”

”I know.” Bai Yihong just wanted to have a heart-to-heart with Jiang Yichun, not confront him.

Bai Yihong didn’t find his son-in-law after a round in the residence, only meeting him in the evening when he returned, then summoned him to the backyard.

”Yichun, I’ve heard about your mother’s situation,” Bai Yihong said straightforwardly, ”If you need any help, just let us know. Even if we can’t help much, we can at least try our best.”

”Dad, thank you. If there’s anything, I’ll definitely tell you,” Jiang Yichun replied.

”Don’t think that Ruozhu told us anything. It’s that we noticed several bruises on Ruolan, like she’s been pinched. We wanted to ask your mother, but Ruozhu stopped us and explained the situation.” Bai Yihong explained.

”Pinched?” Jiang Yichun’s gaze darkened. Naturally, he knew why the Bai Family wasn’t welcoming to his mother—it was because Ruolan was sent with her hands bound.

Frankly, he never particularly liked Bai Ruolan, not because he looked down on a fool, but because he didn’t like Bai Ruolan grabbing his sleeve. He wasn’t used to such intimacy from an unfamiliar woman.

”Spare some time to have a look. The body isn’t convenient to see, but there are many on her arms.” Bai Yihong advised.

”I understand, I’ll be attentive to this matter. Dad, sorry for causing you trouble,” Jiang Yichun said, looking ashamed.

Bai Yihong patted his shoulder and said, ”Family doesn’t need to be formal. Spend more time with Ruozhu when you’re free. She worried about you a lot before.”

Jiang Yichun felt his heart tighten and quickly nodded.

After their conversation, Bai Yihong went to the front courtyard, while Jiang Yichun headed towards his place with Ruozhu. Suddenly, a figure rushed out, shouting, ”Jiang Yichun, if I don’t teach you a lesson today, I’m not your senior brother!”

Wasn’t that voice Xu Huilin’s?

Jiang Yichun wanted to dodge, but remembering Xu Huilin had lost both arms, his heart ached, and he froze for a moment, allowing Xu Huilin to kick him straight in the chest.

”Master!” Lightning and other dark guards rushed out from hiding, but Jiang Yichun raised his hand to have them stand down.

”What are you doing?” he glared at Xu Huilin, that kick was really strong, nearly causing him internal injury.

Xu Huilin snorted, ”What’s wrong with a senior brother teaching a senseless junior brother? Are you looking down on me because I’m a cripple, not recognizing me as your senior brother?”

”What nonsense are you talking about? How did I wrong you?” Jiang Yichun asked, annoyed.

”Look at what you’ve done, leaving your pregnant wife to save someone who abandoned you. Fine, I can understand; you want a clear conscience. But your wife waited and worried about you every day, sleeping poorly. You come back and treat her like this? Let me tell you, your mother is not a good person. My mom, though gone early, would never let me close if she were sick, afraid of passing the illness. Look at your mother holding your son like that, does she really care about her grandson?” Xu Huilin scolded fiercely.

”Don’t glare at me, I saw you arguing in the yard earlier when I passed by. I didn’t want to meddle, but your wife saved my life. An outsider like me feels bad for her, and you say you only have her in your heart? Is this how you treat her?”

Jiang Yichun covered his still aching chest, standing there dumbfounded. Yes, what had he done!

His heart was in chaos, so chaotic it felt like it wasn’t his own. Hearing Ruozhu say his mother abandoned him was like exposing an ugly scar. He just wanted to hide, without considering her feelings.

He really was a bastard!

”What are you still standing there for? Go apologize to your wife. If you can’t handle this, the past twenty years were for nothing!” Xu Huilin scolded angrily.

Jiang Yichun hung his head, ”You’re right, I didn’t handle things well. I’ll go apologize to her now.”

He took two steps, then stopped and turned around, ”Thank you, Senior Brother!”

Then he left quickly, Xu Huilin laughed to himself, mumbling, ”Wasn’t it that he didn’t like calling me Senior Brother? Why is he calling me now? Did my kick scare him?”

When Jiang Yichun returned to the yard, he didn’t see a trace of Bai Ruozhu. After asking a maid, he learned she had gone to visit Bai Ruolan.

Remembering what Bai Yihong mentioned about the injuries on Bai Ruolan, Jiang Yichun understood Ruozhu expected him to take a look, so he quickly left the yard to visit Bai Ruolan’s place.

He should indeed check. If his mother was behind it, he must apologize to the Bai Family and have his mother apologize too.

But when he reached Bai Ruolan’s yard, he didn’t find Bai Ruozhu there. Thinking she might have gone to the Main Courtyard, he intended to detour but suddenly saw Bai Ruolan rushing out from the house.

”Brother, Brother, play with me!” Bai Ruolan shouted, leaping towards him. Jiang Yichun showed a look of disgust, sidestepping her. Bai Ruolan fell face down to the ground and cried out loudly.

”What are you doing!” Bai Ruozhu’s furious voice suddenly rang from the yard entrance.
