Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 1764: Chapter 1764: Almost Hit the Belly

Bai Ruozhu thought for a moment and then said, ”I heard Ling Xue talking to the Empress about something, and the Empress is emotionally unstable right now, so it’s really not appropriate to hear those provocative words. Although Ling Xue is someone you arranged, it’s still best to pay attention.”

Tang Yin said nothing, just stared at Bai Ruozhu, with the corners of his mouth slightly raised.

Are you smiling? Bai Ruozhu’s heart sank; she was anxious. She was not Achun, so why would the Emperor believe her words?

”I heard that Ling Xue once took a sword for Jiang Yichun and has some thoughts about him. When the man was brought back to the Capital City, you refused to help with the treatment.” Tang Yin’s voice rang out with some laughter in his tone.

Bai Ruozhu’s face turned cold, ”Emperor, one matter is one matter, I am not someone who abuses public office for private gain.”

This time, Tang Yin laughed outright, ”You women, how easily you bring some personal emotions into things, especially when it comes to disliked rivals.”

”Your Majesty’s words are incorrect, I don’t consider Ling Xue my rival at all, she’s not even up to it?” Bai Ruozhu was already angry. Her kind reminder, the Emperor’s disbelief aside, resulted in her being seen as a petty woman complaining about Ling Xue out of displeasure.

Tang Yin also wasn’t annoyed, ”Alright, I’ll have someone watch her, you can get busy now.”

Bai Ruozhu was truly angry, leaving without even a salute.

She actually wanted to say, Tang Yin, do you know why you’re at today’s state? It’s because of your arrogance. What does it mean that women easily bring personal emotions into matters? Clearly, it’s about discussing issues applicable regardless of gender.

She believed someone must have warned Tang Yin to guard against King Rui, when the Former Emperor was in power, King Rui’s mother, Yang Fei, tried every means to help him contest the throne, but unfortunately, the Former Emperor insisted on establishing a successor by birth, leaving King Rui and Yang Fei with no chance.

Moreover, the mysterious gatherers she discovered in the Capital City before, she had told Achun, who must have also warned the Emperor, but the investigation yielded no results, and Tang Yin was eventually schemed against and dethroned.

Truly, it’s unknown whether Tang Yin doesn’t take the throne seriously enough or is too self-assured, thinking no one can overthrow him.

If not for his temperament, how would the Empress Dowager be dead? How would Ning Yu and Diao Bin be missing?

With a blocked heart, Bai Ruozhu quickened her pace, and at this moment, a Little Eunuch carrying a not-small incense burner suddenly rushed out from a small path beside her.

Bai Ruozhu was still distracted, not sensing it at all. By the time she reacted, the Little Eunuch and the cumbersome incense burner were about to collide with her!

She instinctively covered her lower abdomen, but it was too late to take other actions, she could only try to move her body sideways, at least this way it wouldn’t directly hit her stomach.

With a loud bang, followed by the sound of the incense burner rolling to one side, Bai Ruozhu was surprised to find that she wasn’t hit, the Little Eunuch and incense burner had fallen to the side, he was groaning in pain on the ground.

She turned her head to look, unexpectedly, it was Lü whom she hadn’t seen for a while.

At this moment, a distant figure trembled slightly and then silently retreated.

”Thank you, sir, for saving me.” Bai Ruozhu saluted Lü, raising her hand to wipe the cold sweat off her forehead, she had been overly emotional lately, nearly failing to protect her children inside.

”No need for more courtesy, Bai Manager, it was what I should do.” Lü had dealt with Bai Ruozhu several times, leaving a good impression of her, his speaking attitude was also extremely polite.

After speaking, he turned to glare at the fallen Little Eunuch, ”Where did this servant come from, clumsily injuring the important person?”

The Little Eunuch shuddered in fear, regardless of the pain on his body, he got up and knelt on the ground, kowtowing to Lü, ”This servant deserves to die, it was Wang Beauty who urgently needed the incense burner, this servant ran a bit fast, not knowing it would disturb Bai Manager, please forgive this servant’s life.”

One moment saying he deserves to die, the next asking for forgiveness, this Little Eunuch was truly scared, speaking incoherently.

As for the Wang Beauty he mentioned, Bai Ruozhu thought for a moment before recalling who she was.

Tang Yin originally had many women in his harem, but due to the hurried escape from the Capital City, only Yue Concubine and the four concubines with family background were brought along. As for Wang Beauty, she was a beauty presented by the local officials after arriving in Beiyu. Since she was the legitimate daughter of a nearby prefecture’s official, Tang Yin couldn’t refuse, thus giving her the rank of beauty.

Bai Ruozhu hadn’t had a face-to-face encounter with Wang Beauty, not even knowing what she looked like, feeling inwardly that this matter was peculiar, the Inner Palace was rife with schemes and calculations, would she naively believe it was just a coincidence?

Yet she had no enmity with Wang Beauty, Wang Beauty had just arrived at the emperor’s side with unsteady roots, was it necessary to find trouble with her at this time?

If she hadn’t evaded just now, whether it be a miscarriage or bleeding, this Little Eunuch would surely die, and Wang Beauty, who sent him to retrieve the incense burner, would undoubtedly be punished or even incur the Emperor’s displeasure.

”Bai Manager, leave this matter to me to investigate, you should rest well first.” Lü spoke.

Bai Ruozhu nodded, she had just broken into a cold sweat on her back, now with the spring breeze, felt a bit chilly and uncomfortable.

Lü called his subordinates to take away the Little Eunuch, intending to salute and say goodbye. Bai Ruozhu thought for a moment and called him to stop.

”Sir Lü, some words I say might not be appropriate, but I can’t help worrying, I’ll have to trouble you to pay attention.” Bai Ruozhu said.

”Bai Manager, say freely, it doesn’t matter.” Lü stopped walking.

”Do you remember that female dark guard called Ling?” Bai Ruozhu asked.

Sure enough, a strange color flashed in Lü’s eyes, it seemed that not only the Emperor knew about Ling taking a sword for Jiang Yichun and admiring him.

Lü was one of the most reliable dark guard leaders beside the Emperor, knowing this matter wasn’t surprising.

”She is now serving beside Yue Concubine with a clear status.” Lü didn’t laugh like the Emperor, but his expression was somewhat strange.

Bai Ruozhu sighed, probably the incident of her refusing to save Ling made others think she was just a petty woman jealous over trivial matters.

”I mean no harm, I merely visited Yue Concubine today, found her emotionally troubled, and happened to overhear Ling Xue saying some suggestive things to her. I know a few words can’t convict anyone, but for Yue Concubine’s safety, please keep an eye out.” Bai Ruozhu said with a bitter smile, ”I’ve already reported this to the Emperor, but he thinks I’m jealous and biased against Ling Xue.”

”Thank you, Bai Manager, for the reminder. I’ll have someone watch out, and regarding today’s incident, I’ll definitely give Bai Manager an explanation.” Lü’s expression became serious, being a dark guard, he frequently gathered intelligence, making him more sensitive to conspiracies and plots. He vaguely felt that the incident earlier where Bai Ruozhu was almost hit by the Little Eunuch wasn’t that simple, perhaps related to Bai Ruozhu’s words.

Ling Xue was born a dark guard, although not personally trained by him, he knew the capabilities of the dark guards.
