Chapter 1448: Chapter 1449 Let Her Have a Good Sleep_1

Jiang Yichun remained behind with a stern face, seemingly oblivious to everything. However, when Bai Ruozhu looked at him, he quickly threw her a flirtatious wink, which carried somewhat of a self-congratulatory air.

He had overheard Imperial Concubine Liu’s threats towards Bai Ruozhu, so while Bai Ruozhu could bear it, he could not.

”Your Highness, Your Highness, how are you?” The palace maid beside was so scared she almost cried, hurriedly rushing to help Liu Xiyu, who struggled to get up, furiously turning her head to glare at Bai Ruozhu, ”It was you! It must have been you!”

Bai Ruozhu wore an innocent expression, ”I’ve been standing right here without moving, the Emperor and the Empress Dowager were watching too, I didn’t do anything.”

It really was her, she didn’t know how wronged she felt.

”Liu Fei, stop causing a scene and retreat to your chambers to reflect immediately,” the Emperor said with a stern face.

Bai Ruozhu felt certain that the Emperor must have seen Achun’s actions. Achun had hit the Emperor’s woman, yet the Emperor was still covering for him, indicating their relationship was far from ordinary. She secretly glanced at Jiang Yichun, and the phrase ”intense bromance” flashed through her mind.

”It’s not true, Your Majesty, something tripped me just now, it must have been Bai Ruozhu using a magic technique against me,” Liu Xiyu said angrily.

The Emperor gave her a cold glance, ”Knowing she is a disciple of the Astrology Tower, why did you provoke her? Even I treat the National Master and Ning Yu with the utmost courtesy, you really don’t understand the gravity of your actions.”

Liu Xiyu was taken aback and could only leave in resentment.

The Emperor then turned to Tang Yuwei, saying, ”Yuwei, thank you for taking care of the Empress Dowager today. It’s getting late now, why don’t you leave the palace and keep the Virtuous King company.”

Tang Yuwei showed a surprised expression, ”Your Majesty, has Yuwei done something wrong?”

”No, the Empress Dowager should rest now, and the palace is under strict investigation. It’s safer for a girl like you to return home early,” the Emperor’s tone softened.

Tang Yuwei let out a sigh of relief, paid her respects to the Emperor and the Empress Dowager before departing, and even bowed to Bai Ruozhu.

Bai Ruozhu quickly stepped aside; Tang Yuwei was a princess, it made no sense for her to bow to Bai Ruozhu.

Once Tang Yuwei had left, the Empress Dowager said with a smile, ”Don’t be nervous, she wants to build a good relationship with you. Perhaps one day you might be her sister-in-law.”

Bai Ruozhu, feeling the Empress Dowager seemed to like Tang Yuwei, was somewhat nervous and forced a smile, ”The Empress Dowager jests; my second brother would not dare to entertain such presumptuous thoughts.”

”Your second brother is a talented man, and with his family rule against taking concubines, even I have considered betrothing Princess Diao Bin to him,” the Empress Dowager said with a laugh.

At that moment, Ning Yu entered the Main Hall and, overhearing these words, his body swayed as if he were about to faint.

Bai Ruozhu quickly instructed Jianqi, ”Go and assist Mr. Ning. He took a hit for the princess and is now ill on top of injuries.”

She mentioned this deliberately, wanting the Empress Dowager and the Emperor to acknowledge Ning Yu’s sacrifice.

The Emperor’s gaze flickered, then he turned to Bai Ruozhu, ”Bai Family, your contributions in handling the epidemic area are commendable, and you’ve also saved Fen Wan. Today, you’ve saved Diao Bin once more. I wish to reward you handsomely. Do you have any requests?”

Bai Ruozhu immediately performed a courtesy to express her gratitude, ”Thank you, Your Majesty, for your generous rewards. All these are my duty; I dare not ask for much. I only hope that Your Majesty will officially approve the establishment of the Medical Alliance.”

If she had the official edict from the Emperor of Danliang Country, the Medical Alliance would then be formally recognized as an official organization.

She had already obtained the approval from the monarch of the Western Regions Country, and Sangta from the Barbarian Clan had also issued her a document. If she could also have the edict from the Emperor of Danliang, the Medical Alliance could expand even better and faster.

”Medical Alliance?” the Emperor inquired.

Bai Ruozhu patiently explained her initial intentions for establishing the Medical Alliance and emphasized, ”The Medical Alliance is just a place for those who study medicine to exchange knowledge and learn from each other, without any ulterior motives. As long as doctors can learn from each other and make progress together, more commonfolk will benefit. Only by doctors abandoning the habit of conservatively hoarding secrets can medical skills be better inherited, and our country’s level of medical skills will rapidly develop.”

After listening for a while, Tang Yin suddenly turned to Jiang Yichun and asked, ”Have you joined her Medical Alliance too?”

Jiang Yichun’s lips curled into a smile, ”She is the leader, and I am her little assistant.”

Tang Yin burst into laughter, ”Little assistant? Achun, how can you even add the word ’little’ with a straight face?”

The Empress Dowager also started laughing, looking much better than before. In reality, her ailment was a matter of the heart. With Princess Diao Bin’s condition stabilized, she naturally could breathe a sigh of relief.

”Alright, I agree,” Tang Yin said with a laugh.

Bai Ruozhu breathed a sigh of relief, ”This consort thanks His Majesty for his grace.”

”Furthermore, I want to appoint you as the Chief Female Doctor of the Imperial Medical Hospital. Take three days off, and then take up your post there. You will also be responsible for establishing the Female Physicians Institution in the palace,” Tang Yin added.

”Yes, this consort accepts the decree,” Bai Ruozhu said, bowing in acknowledgement.

With things in the palace winding down, Bai Ruozhu and Jiang Yichun bid their farewells and departed the palace. Ning Yu also excused himself, but on the way, they all seemed a bit downcast.

”Ning Yu, my second brother will not marry the princess, and she will not marry him either, so stop overthinking it,” Bai Ruozhu said, feeling the urge to kick him a couple of times.

Ning Yu’s face instantly turned red, ”I, I didn’t mean that.”

”Whatever you mean, you better take care of your health quickly, or who would be willing to marry their daughter off to a sickly chap?” Bai Ruozhu said, tossing him a bottle of medicine for calming the nerves and replenishing Qi, ”And stop trying to act tough.”

”I got it.” Ning Yu caught the medicine and smiled, then turned and walked towards the Astrology Tower.

Bai Ruozhu was helped onto the horse carriage by Jiang Yichun, and as soon as she sat down, her head leaned against his shoulder.

”Achun, I’m so tired,” she said, yawning repeatedly. She was indeed exhausted and wanted to sleep soundly for three days.

”Then sleep, I’ll carry you down later,” Jiang Yichun said as he supported her head, letting her use his thigh as a pillow.

Without opening her eyes, Bai Ruozhu asked weakly, ”How’s the investigation with the Emperor going? Did you find anything? Does it have to do with Imperial Concubine Liu?”

”There’s a small lead, but we haven’t caught anyone yet, so we don’t know who it is,” Jiang Yichun replied softly.

”Hmm...” Bai Ruozhu hummed and then fell into a deep sleep, not even realizing when she was carried down from the horse carriage upon arriving home. Lin Ping’er almost thought her daughter was sick or injured, her heart leaping into her throat. Upon catching up and seeing that Bai Ruozhu was merely asleep, even emitting a gentle snore, she was relieved.

Lin Ping’er felt sorry for her daughter but was a bit embarrassed as she spoke to her son-in-law, ”You’ve been indulging her too much. How could she sleep like this?”

Gazing at the person in his arms, Jiang Yichun’s eyes were filled with indulgence, ”Mother, don’t blame her. She has been too tired these days; it’s my fault for not taking good care of her. Being able to let her have a good sleep makes me feel a bit better too.”

”Alright, alright, you go and get some rest as well,” Lin Ping’er said, her smile widening at the sight of her son-in-law doting on her daughter so much.
