Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 1411: Chapter 1413 His Confusion, Somewhat Sober_1

Yuefeng couldn’t defy his master’s orders, even if he disagreed mentally, his body couldn’t resist and he had to obediently comply.

Standing outside the cave, he thought of Honglian’s current condition, his face twisted with heartache.

Suddenly, he glared at Jiang Yichun and said, ”I’m under control and can’t save her, but in your memory, isn’t she your lover? Are you just going to watch her suffer? Jin Jing can’t control you, so go save Honglian. Don’t you feel heartache seeing her like that?”

Jiang Yichun gave him a cold glance, ”No feelings.”

Yuefeng was stunned for a moment before realizing what he meant—that he felt no heartache for Honglian’s suffering. Yuefeng felt somewhat relieved; indeed, it was he who loved Honglian the most.

He continued to urge Jiang Yichun to save Honglian, but Jiang Yichun was completely indifferent. Then, suddenly, Jiang Yichun asked, ”If she’s my lover, why am I not anxious? Strange.”

After that, he activated his lightness skill and sprang into the forest. Yuefeng wanted to stop him but it was already too late.

Jin Jing, hearing the commotion, ran out only to find absolutely no trace of Jiang Yichun, her anger leading her to order Honglian to punish Yuefeng by having him repeatedly ram his head against the mountain wall until she told him to stop.

Thus, the scene turned bizarrely eerie: a woman with grey hair viciously stabbing her own stomach with a dagger, while a tall man next to her rammed his head into the wall as if it were life or death, yet neither of them bled a single drop.

It was unclear whether it was because Honglian had become a flesh puppet, or perhaps the control over her had loosened due to her lack of consciousness, that Jiang Yichun’s restraint had weakened. He sprinted forward, tears slipping from the corners of his eyes.

He couldn’t understand why his heart hurt so much, so much that he wanted to rip it out and see what was wrong with it. But he knew his heartache surely wasn’t for that Honglian, just as he had said to Yuefeng—no feelings.

Before he knew it, he had run to the place where he had encountered Sangta and the others before. He remembered he had stabbed a woman with his sword there, but he just couldn’t recall the woman’s face, even though he had only seen her not long ago. Why couldn’t he see her face?

And the more it was so, the more intense the pain in his heart.

He quietly hid in the jungle, waiting for the woman to leave the tent, wanting to see what she looked like and why her face seemed shrouded in mist.

As it turned out, Bai Ruozhu had been unconscious for two days, not seriously injured, but unconscious due to a deep emotional slump.

When she awoke, she felt her throat was dry and hoarse, and only after drinking some warm water that Sangta brought did she feel a bit better. Then, after having some hot porridge, she listened to Sangta clarify how Honglian had used a sacrificial scheme to plot against them, and about Honglian’s proposal of cooperation.

”She came to me, but I refused. It’s not because I’m afraid you would say that I am unscrupulous or look down on me,” Sangta said, feeling somewhat guilty under Bai Ruozhu’s gaze and lowering his voice quite a bit. If his subordinates were to see this, their jaws would surely drop. When had their Sangta Prince ever been so humble in front of a woman?

Bai Ruozhu was silent for a long while. Although her face was expressionless, her eyes were filled with a forlorn look.

”I didn’t expect to fall into her hands.” She laughed at herself mockingly, ”Actually, I should take it easy. After all, my husband’s mind was controlled by someone else, he did not intend to kill me on his own. Everyone understands the rationale, but emotionally, it’s hard to accept.”

”If you can’t accept it, then don’t. Just stay with the Barbarian Clan. I’ll take care of you from now on. If you like the grasslands, I’ll take you horseback riding there. If you want to see the scenery of the Gobi, I’ll accompany you to take a look. If you dislike sleeping in a tent, then every once in a while I’ll take you to the Western Regions to stay for a bit,” Sangta boasted, looking rather carefree and confident.

Bai Ruozhu gave a bitter smile, ”Sangta, I appreciate your kindness, but I must return to Danliang now. My child, parents, and siblings are all in Danliang, we have promised to always stay together. I’m sorry.”

Sangta helped her over and over again, crucially never trying to control her, which deeply moved her. She could no longer be fierce with him. However, her feelings for him were limited to friendship, devoid of romantic love.

Sometimes, once you meet certain people, you miss out on a lifetime, and from that moment on, you cannot escape. And she had already met that person.

”You can bring your family and child to the Barbarian Clan, I will take good care of them,” Sangta said unwillingly.

Bai Ruozhu shook her head, ”They won’t get used to it, and neither could I. After all, we are not from the same world.”

Sangta looked somewhat dejected, as he was rejected once again, but he did not regret it. He would rather be rejected by the real her than to live a lie with a false semblance of affection.

Bai Ruozhu felt stifled in the tent and suggested going out for some air. Sangta, fearing that she might feel dizzy after being unconscious for two days, supported her as they went outside.

From a distance in the forest, Jiang Yichun finally laid eyes on the woman he had wounded. He wanted to get a clearer look, but his head began to throb with pain, so intense that he couldn’t stand and knelt down on the ground.

Even such pain didn’t suppress the fury in his heart. He didn’t understand why, but the sight of the Sangta Prince supporting the woman’s arm filled him with an extraordinary rage, making him want to rush over and fight the Sangta Prince to the death.

Bai Ruozhu took a few deep breaths and said to Sangta, ”I want to return to Gaochang now. My subordinates must be frantic by now.”

”How can you travel with your injuries? Maybe I could send someone to deliver a message to them, telling them to come here to find you,” Sangta suggested hesitantly, hoping she could stay a bit longer.

”That’s fine, have them all come here. Tell them that Bai’s son has appeared here as well, so they don’t need to waste time looking elsewhere.” Bai Ruozhu considered her current state and accepted Sangta’s proposal.

Sangta immediately ordered his subordinates to carry out the task, to show he meant his words, he did so in front of Bai Ruozhu, insisting they leave right away to get it done.

Bai Ruozhu looked at Sangta and sighed, saying, ”I have to thank you again.”

Sangta smiled, ”Even if you can’t accept me, you are still the person prophesied by our Barbarian Clan’s High Priest, and the Barbarian people are all willing to help you.”

”I really am not the person in the prophecy, you must have made a mistake,” Bai Ruozhu explained once again, untrusting of prophecies, finding them far too mystic to believe.

”If I say you are, then you are. You’ll understand eventually,” Sangta replied this time without yielding, his stance very firm.

From afar, Jiang Yichun felt the pain in his head slowly fade, and he seemed to see the woman’s face a bit more clearly, but a layer of mist still prevented him from seeing it distinctly.

Since he was too far to hear their conversation, he mistakenly thought they were talking pleasantly, and he couldn’t help feeling angry, wishing he could rush over and kick Sangta away, taking his place beside her.

The moment this thought emerged, he was startled. Had he fallen for a woman whose face he couldn’t even see clearly?
