Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 1424: Chapter 1425 Kneel and Scrubbing Board_1

”You,” Qingyan sighed, ”already committed a mistake, so why make another one? Isn’t this compounding errors on errors?” ”Last time when you said it wasn’t intentional, I could understand that, but this time...”

”I-I didn’t mean for this to happen either, right? It was all Muyu’s lousy idea.” Jiang Yichun said, glancing around the yard, yet he couldn’t spot Muyu anywhere.

Upon hearing this, Qingyan simply shook her head, ”This isn’t like you. You agreed to his suggestion, so you shouldn’t blame him when things go wrong. Ultimately, the choice was yours, and the old you would never have done this. Ruozhu is not someone who can tolerate even the slightest fault in her eyes, and Miss He is still lying in the yard. You decide how to deal with it.”

Qingyan had no children of her own and considered Bai Ruozhu as her daughter, which was why she sounded like she was advising a son-in-law.

Jiang Yichun glanced at the unconscious He Lianlian, a look of disgust flickering in his eyes, then shouted loudly, ”Muyu, take Miss He back to Lord He and say that I must not be disturbed while thinking through matters. Miss He approached suddenly and I mistook her for an assassin and struck her.”

Muyu came out from the room, face covered in tears, ”Master, can I let Chenfeng handle this? He is more articulate than I am.”

”You still have the nerve to make requests? Go at once!” Jiang Yichun commanded.

Reluctantly, Muyu picked up the unconscious He Lianlian and walked out. Jiang Yichun gave Chenfeng a meaningful look, indicating that he should follow and watch over the situation.

Inside the room, Bai Ruozhu, seething with anger, stepped out of the bath, dried off, and put on luxurious clothes before slowly and methodically twisting her hair with a large handkerchief.

”Madam, please come over here, let me help you with your hair.” Zhanna, who had become familiar with Bai Ruozhu over these days, spoke with much more boldness.

”Sure.” Bai Ruozhu took another handkerchief and walked over, while Zhanna sat on the bed to help her twist her hair. The room was quiet and harmonious.

After a while, Zhanna couldn’t help but ask, ”Madam, do you really plan to ignore Lord Jiang?”

At the mention of Jiang Yichun, Bai Ruozhu’s eyebrows shot up, ”Hmph, he won’t get off that easily. If we were at home, he would certainly have to kneel on the washboard.”

Zhanna, who had no idea what a washboard was, was very curious but understood it was not a pleasant thing, especially since she heard it was something for Lord Jiang to kneel on, so she didn’t dare to ask further.

Bai Ruozhu, however, fell into contemplation. After a while, with her hair half-dry, she walked out of the room without hurry.

As soon as the door opened, Jiang Yichun jumped up, nearly rushing straight to Bai Ruozhu.

Bai Ruozhu looked at Jianqi, ”Make a washboard. You’ve seen them at the Bai Residence, haven’t you?”

Jianqi was startled for a moment but quickly understood. The servants at the Bai Residence said it was a useful item, and he heard it was also a tool for enforcing the Family Law. Seeing Bai Ruozhu’s expression, he immediately grasped what she intended.

”Yes, I’ll have it ready shortly,” Jianqi said and then withdrew.

Normally, one would need to measure and saw for quite some time to make a washboard, but Jianqi didn’t need such hassle; he simply carved the wood into shape with his sword, and using his inner strength, he was sure to finish it quickly.

Standing at the doorway, Bai Ruozhu looked coldly at Jiang Yichun and asked, ”Do you realize your mistake?”

Jiang Yichun’s spirit deflated as he hung his head, saying softly, ”I do.”

Suppressing a laugh, Qingyan gave a signal to everyone else, and they quietly went back to their own rooms. Just because they weren’t present didn’t mean they wouldn’t sneak peeks from inside their rooms.

”Do you know what the mistake is?” Bai Ruozhu asked again.

”I shouldn’t have had intimate contact with another woman. I remember I promised you there wouldn’t be others, and we would be a couple, faithful to each other until old age,” Jiang Yichun said, still with his head down.

Bai Ruozhu took a deep breath, her anger subsided quite a bit, ”Then why would you make such a childish mistake?”

”I thought it might provoke you a little, make you jealous or perhaps willing to reconcile with me.” At this moment, Jiang Yichun truly detested Muyu.

Bai Ruozhu snorted coldly, ”Don’t count on reconciling, but hating you is indeed possible. Since you’ve made this kind of mistake today, go to the room and kneel on the washboard later.”

The washboard at home—her mother had once punished her father to kneel on it, of course not in front of their three children, but Bai Ruozhu was aware of it, especially when her father didn’t know how to deal with the old mansion, her mother had punished him several times.

But she had never punished Jiang Yichun like this before. On one hand, Jiang Yichun had so many subordinates; surely they shouldn’t let him lose too much face, right? On the other hand, he hadn’t made a fundamental mistake. Even with the Jiao Bingqin incident, it was pressed by the Holy Edict.

Now, she didn’t want to leave him any face. He called He Lianlian into the room openly, how could he not consider the dignity of his wife?

Jiang Yichun wore a blank expression, ”Kneel on the washboard?”

At this time, Jianqi had returned to the yard, holding two washboards in his hands. With a stern face, he approached Jiang Yichun and handed one of them to him.

Bai Ruozhu glanced at the other washboard and immediately understood Jianqi’s intention. Good, Muyu deserved to be punished thoroughly for daring to give their master such a bad idea.

Bai Ruozhu lifted her chin towards the washboard in Jiang Yichun’s hands and then turned to point to his room before heading back into her own room.

Jiang Yichun opened his mouth to speak, but in the end, he silently carried the washboard back to his room.

It wasn’t long before Muyu and Chenfeng returned. Muyu had a face full of sorrow, presumably already disciplined by Chenfeng on the road.

Jianqi tossed the washboard in his hands to him and said, ”You, kneel in the yard. Don’t get up until the lady has given the order.”

Muyu, with a flushed face, placed the washboard on the ground and knelt down obediently.

Chenfeng knocked on the door outside Bai Ruozhu’s room and said, ”Lady, that Master He claims his daughter is unconscious and it’s still unknown whether she will suffer any sequelae; he hopes the master can provide an explanation.”

”Are you asking if Master He Lian is prepared to lose his gauze cap?” Bai Ruozhu’s voice came out chilly from the room.

”This subordinate did remind him of that, and afterwards he changed his tune, saying that as long as his daughter was out of serious danger, he would let the matter rest,” Chenfeng said.

Bai Ruozhu casually twisted her hair into a bun and inserted a jade pin before stepping out of the room, ”After all is said and done, doesn’t he just want me to save the girl, to avoid your master being implicated?”

Chenfeng’s face turned slightly red, ”The master is indeed exceptionally intelligent.”

”So I have to clean up the mess your master caused, don’t you subordinates ever think to give a reminder?” Bai Ruozhu asked in a stern voice.

”The lady is right, this subordinate deserves to be punished.” After saying that, Chenfeng knelt down on the ground.

Bai Ruozhu paid him no attention and called for Jianqi to pick up the medicine box, then walked towards the outer yard.

Soon, she arrived at the residence of Master He, and also saw Miss He who had passed out.

Upon seeing her arrive alone, Master He’s expression stiffened, and a flicker of displeasure and disdain appeared in his eyes.
