Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 1284: Chapter 1286: You Become My Beast Concubine_1

After returning to her room, Bai Ruozhu had been feeling gloomy, uneasy and guilty for not going to aid the injured young man.

Jiang Yichun quickly guessed what was on her mind and said in a low voice, ”Don’t worry, I will take care of it.”

Bai Ruozhu nodded, feeling somewhat tired and fell asleep.

The next day, Chu Hai’s condition wasn’t very good, and Bai Ruozhu could only discuss with Jiang Yichun about delaying for another morning, afraid that hurrying on the journey would worsen Chu Hai’s illness.

Jiang Yichun immediately agreed, saying, ”It just so happens that Sangta and his people are leaving in the morning, it’s better to stagger our departure from them.”

So, after the midday meal and another dose of decoction for Chu Hai, the team finally continued their journey. However, this delay resulted in them running into the Jin Family Merchant Team once again.

This time Jin Jing did not actively provoke them, and after traveling for approximately four hours, they suddenly came across someone lying by the roadside, crying for help.

It was an elderly man, with somewhat grey hair, lying on the ground covered in blood, his belly ripped open, leaving lengths of intestine spilling out.

The old man had lost so much blood that he was on the verge of passing out, his cries for help weak and breathless. Upon finally seeing someone approach, he looked at Jiang Yichun’s Merchant Team with pleading eyes and stretched out his bloodied hand...

”How can someone be so seriously injured?” Bai Ruozhu asked in surprise.

Jiang Yichun took a look and saw no signs of a fight nearby, but there were traces of horse carriage wheels, suggesting that this old man might have been left behind by the Merchant Team ahead, either because his companions did not have the time to bring him along as they fled or thought he was beyond saving and simply abandoned him.

There he lay, alone on the ground, reaching out to strangers, with eyes full of pleading and pain, and even a hint of despair, perhaps already resigned to the fact that he might not survive.

”Looks like he was clawed by some ferocious beast,” Jianqi said in a low voice at the side.

Bai Ruozhu’s heart clenched painfully at the man’s gaze. She glanced at Jiang Yichun and said, ”I want to try and save him.”

Jiang Yichun looked at her and saw that her eyes were very determined. She had said ”I want to” instead of ”I would like to,” and he knew she had made up her mind; no one could stop her, and nor would he.

He too wanted to save the man, but with his medical skills, he was incapable of saving someone with such grievous injuries.

Bai Ruozhu dismounted swiftly, rushing to the injured man’s side to soothe him softly, ”Don’t be afraid, I’m going to find a way to save you. But if you want to keep living, you must clench your teeth and hold on, you can’t give up on yourself first, or else no one can save you.”

The man didn’t know who Bai Ruozhu was, nor if she could actually save him, but as the first person to extend a helping hand, he clung to her like a lifeline. His bloodied hand gripped Bai Ruozhu’s sleeve tightly as he said with effort, ”I won’t give up, please save me.”

Bai Ruozhu nodded and quickly applied needles to stop the bleeding. As the blood ceased, the injured man’s condition did not continue to deteriorate. She called Jianqi to bring her medical box, and she started to clean and disinfect the wound. To ensure the man’s vitality, she gave him a life-sustaining pill and had him take three slices of ginseng.

”Form a circle around us, don’t let anyone see how I’m treating him,” Bai Ruozhu whispered to Jiang Yichun, who waited beside her, ”I need to stitch him up.”

Understanding her request, Jiang Yichun called for Jianqi, Chenfeng, Muyu, and other trusted individuals to come over, draw the canopy, and obscure the scene from view.

Not far away, the Jin Family Commerce Association simply stopped moving, as if waiting excitedly to see if Bai Ruozhu could save the injured man. With the curtains drawn around her, the people from the Jin side grew even more curious.

”Hmph, who knows what shady business they’re up to,” Jin Jing said disdainfully.

The leader of the Lin family, now fearing that Jin Jing would cause more trouble, spoke pleasantly, ”It’s normal for doctors from Zhongyuan to have unique Medical Skills that cannot be shared with outsiders, and to treat patients away from prying eyes.”

On Bai Ruozhu’s side, she was so busy that sweat beaded on her forehead. This was no ordinary suture; the injured man’s viscera were exposed, and she needed to clean them before stuffing them back in and stitching him up layer by layer.

After about half an hour, the curtains surrounding Bai Ruozhu were finally taken down. The injured man’s abdomen had been wrapped with clean white gauze, and though he had passed out, his complexion had improved markedly.

”Take him with us when we leave. Whether he survives will depend on how he does over the next three days,” Bai Ruozhu sighed. Conditions were crude, and the injured man might develop a fever from infection—it was a step by step situation.

Jiang Yichun immediately ordered two dark guards to lift the man onto the horse carriage to join Chu Hai, who was already unwell. Now with another patient for company, things became livelier.

As the Merchant Team prepared to continue on their way, they discovered several ferocious beasts ahead, each with a person mounted on its back.

When had these people arrived? Why hadn’t there been any sound? Bai Ruozhu was startled—it was Sangta, and he was even more terrifying than she had imagined!

Jiang Yichun’s expression also became serious. Sangta had set out early, and now his appearance here definitely wasn’t a good sign.

”Haha, Prince Sangta, you were right. That woman really could save him,” a burly man from the Barbarian Clan laughed loudly.

Bai Ruozhu’s complexion changed—was the injured man a trap, set just to coax her into helping?

Sangta rode his white tiger closer to the Merchant Team, causing Jin Family’s followers to hastily retreat, fearful of being implicated.

Jin Jing’s beautiful eyes filled with worry, afraid that the Bai gentleman she fancied would be killed by Sangta. But wasn’t it his own wife who caused it? With a fierce glare, Jin Jing directed a silent curse towards Bai Ruozhu: more trouble than she’s worth!

As Sangta approached, all the guards moved to meet him, but he ignored everyone and stared intently at Bai Ruozhu with his amber eyes, saying, ”You didn’t disappoint me. You must be the one the High Priest predicted. Become my beast wife, and I guarantee no one will dare to bully you again.”

Bai Ruozhu involuntarily took a few steps back. This man seemed too dangerous, and she didn’t understand why, having met him only twice, he suddenly wanted her to become his beast wife. What prophecy was he talking about? What exactly was going on?

At this moment, rage consumed Jiang Yichun. Someone was attempting to take his woman right in front of him, clearly not taking him seriously.

”How dare you! My wife is not someone others can covet.” After speaking, he charged forward, thrusting his sword at Sangta.

Sangta let out a cold laugh, flicking his whip to block Jiang Yichun’s sword. The surrounding members of the Barbarian Tribe made no move to assist, even cheering from the sidelines, clearly wanting to watch a one-on-one duel.

At this point, Bai Ruozhu was anxious and unsure what to do. She feared that Jiang Yichun would be at a disadvantage if he suppressed his inner strength too much, yet she also feared that if he didn’t suppress it well and revealed his true power, it would arouse the suspicions of those from the Western Regions.

Suddenly, a flash of silver light shot towards the two men locked in combat...
