Rebirth: General, Don't Mess Around!

Old Master Li was in a hurry to go to the study to avoid Li Jinnian upstairs, but he didn’t know that Li Jinnian had heard everything.

”I heard that Jinnian is back. Where is he?” Li Ronghuan pretended that he didn’t hear anything. He turned around and looked upstairs. ”Is he still sleeping upstairs? That brat. Doesn’t he know that his uncle is back?”

On the second floor, Li Jinnian, who had been listening for a while, slowly retreated to his room. Right on the heels of that, he opened the door and closed it again. Then, he slowly walked toward the first floor.

Footsteps could be heard coming up the stairs. Old Master Li’s angry shout came from downstairs. ”Why do you care about an outsider? Uncle? In his eyes, our Li family is filled with outsiders!”

Li Ronghuan turned a deaf ear to him. Instead, he quickened his pace. Before he reached the second floor, he stopped in his tracks and raised his head to look at the young man standing at the top of the stairs.

”Jinnian, long time no see.” Li Ronghuan, who had a look of surprise on his face, smiled. At 48 years old, he didn’t look old. He had the casual aura of an artist. Li Ronghuan was also the most similar to Old Madam Li. When he smiled, his eyes were even more curved. When he smiled, it made people feel that he had instantly become younger.

Li Jinnian looked at the middle-aged man who was smiling at him. He saw a sense of familiarity on the other party’s face. He realized that… he looked somewhat similar to Li Ronghuan.

He didn’t look like his father. He looked like his uncle!

Some past events surged like a tide. Li Jinnian couldn’t help but clench his fists tightly.

”Old Master, I’m not being paranoid, but look at Jinnian. His nose and mouth… Why does he look so much like Ronghuan?”

”He really doesn’t look like the old master’s eldest son at all. The more I look at him, the more he looks like the old master’s second son. I’ve never seen a child that looks so much like his uncle.”

”That’s right. The first time I met him, I almost thought that it was Ronghuan’s child.”

”Aren’t there paternity tests that we can do now? Do you want to check? How can he look so much like his uncle?”

With the spread of the rumors, his parents eventually had an argument about it. Later, a paternity test was done, and it was confirmed that he was not Li Ronghuan’s child.

Later on, there were fewer rumors, and his mother became more and more silent. In the end, she was terminally ill and passed away, leaving him alone to face the entire Li family.

It seemed that Li Ronghuan didn’t go home much at that time. Later, he left home completely. In Li Jinnian’s memory, the last time he met Li Ronghuan was 11 years ago. However, just now, he heard Li Ronghuan say that he hadn’t returned home for 18 years.

In that case, when he saw Li Ronghuan 11 years ago… was he the only one who saw him?

He didn’t say anything for a long time. There was still a hint of unfamiliarity in his eyes. The smile in Li Ronghuan’s eyes deepened. He smiled until there were a few wrinkles in his curved eyes. ”Good lad, don’t tell me you don’t even recognize your second uncle? I’m your second uncle, Li Ronghuan. Do you remember? Could it be that you’ve been so busy in the military unit that your memory has deteriorated?”

He was very enthusiastic. As he spoke, there was a deep concern in his eyes. This made Li Jinnian, who had never received the care of the Li family, feel unfamiliar.

He slowly released his clenched fists and nodded. ”Second Uncle.”

”As it turns out, you still know that I’m your second uncle. It’s good that you didn’t forget. It’s good that you didn’t forget.” The smile on Li Ronghuan’s face was much more real when he faced Li Jinnian. Old Master Li had never seen it.

Li Ronghuan’s gaze landed on the camouflage travel bag in Li Jinnian’s hand. The smile on his face disappeared. ”I just came back and you’re going back to the military unit?”
